Short-Term Food Supply Instructions

Create Your Meal Schedule: Decide how many dierent recipes for each meal type you want, and ll out the bottom section of your ReadyRecipes shopping list. We recomend the following 90-day schudule: 10 days of 9 W dierent dinner recipes, 18 days of 5 dierent lunch recipes, and 30 days of 3 dierent breakfast recipes. Make Copies of Your Recipe Cards: When your nished lling out the meal schedule on your shopping list, make enough copies of the ReadyRecipes Meal Recipe Cards for all your dierent recipes. If you followed the schedule above, youll need 9 copies of the worksheet which will give you a total of 18 recipe cards so youll have one extra. After youve made copies, check the appropriate box for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and write in the number of days you need for the meal in the Days for Meal box. Fill Out Your Meal Ingredients: Once you have decided on your meal schedule, ll out the meal ingredients for each of your meals. Be sure to include everything you want for your meal, including fruits and vegetables:

#2:

#3:

First, ll out the ingredients of your meal (e.g. Ingredient = Instant Marinara Sauce or Sliced Peaches) Second, ll out the quantity and measure of each ingredient, (e.g. Qty = 2, Measure = Cups) You can also

ReadySteps

use a can as your measure to keep things simple. For example, if your family uses a can of peaches for a meal, just put Qty = 1, Measure = Can.

TM

#4:

Fill Out The Container Info: After youve lled out all the meal ingredients, gure out how many containers you Af need of the ingredients.

First, pick the Container Size you will be using (i.e. #10 CAN, Small Box etc..) Second, write the number of Measures/Container (e.g. if you put Cups as your measure and you put #10 Third, simply divide the ingredient Qty by the Measures/Container to get the Qty/Meal, and write it in Finally, calculate the TOTAL NEEDED for all days of the meal. If this was a breakfast, you would have written 30
the space provided (i.e. 2 / 12 = 1/6 or 0.1667 containers)
in the Days for Meal box in Step #1, so multiply the Qty/Meal by the Days for Meal to get the TOTAL NEEDED (e.g. 1/6 x 30 = 5 containers). CAN as your can size, then look at the can label or use the common can size reference chart to see how many Cups are in the container. In this case you would put 12 because there are 12 Cups in a #10 CAN)

#5:

Create Your Shopping List: Now that youve lled out all the ingredients and container info, just take each of your recipe cards and transfer your container info to your shopping list. We recommend laminating your list and using a dry-erase marker to make changes and updates a snap:

First, take a recipe card and write the Item Description of a meal ingredient in the eld on the rst Second, write the Container Size of the meal ingredient in the eld on the same line of your shopping list. Third, write the TOTAL NEEDED of the meal ingredient in the on the same line of your shopping list. Finally, repeat the above steps with all your ingredients on all your recipe cards. If you come to an
available line of your shopping list.

7 Simple Steps to Real Readiness

ingredient that you have already added to the shopping list, just add the TOTAL NEEDED numbers together (e.g. if one recipe needed 2 #CANS of Instant Marinara Sauce and another recipe needed 3 #CANS you would put one line of Instant Marinara Sauce on your shopping list with 5 in theTOTAL NEEDED eld.)

#6:

Calculate Your Total Budget: Finally, just record how many items you already have so you can gure out how many you need and how much it will cost you: First, ll out the TOTAL ON HAND of each item you already have on hand Second, subtract the TOTAL ON HAND number from the TOTAL NEEDED to get the TOTAL TO BUYnumber. Third, ll in the Cost / Item eld and times the Cost / Item by the TOTAL TO BUY to get the BUDGET Finally, add the item BUDGET numbers up to get your TOTAL BUDGET and your done. You now know exactly what you need for your short-term food supplies, how much you already have, how much you need to buy and exactly how much it will cost you.

Your Monthly Income (AFTER TAXES): Desired Months of Income in Savings: Total Savings Balance Goal: Desired Savings Percentage: Monthly Savings Amount Goal: Months to Reach Savings Balance Goal:

Use this savings plan worksheet to make a scheule for building a savings account balance to be used for a rainy day. The rst key to building your savings is to make it a priority. Savings should not be optional. It should be one of the rst things you do when you get a paycheck. Many employers that oer a direct deposit give employees the option to deposit a percentage of their wages to a separate savings account, take advantage of this if it is available. The second key to building a savings is keeping your savings separate. You should have a separate account that is not easily accesible via checks or debit cards. The third key, and perhaps the hardest, is making sure that when your income increases, you save rst and spend later. Instead of spending more when you start earning more, save more until your desired savings balance is achieved. If you get some extra money, save it. Dont spend it. The fourth key is making a plan and setting goals. Thats what this worksheet is for. Heres how it works:

ReadySteps

TM

First, decide what your savings balance goal is. We would

recommend at least three months worth of income. Many things could happen that would cause you to need your savings, medical emergencies, loss of employment, or natural disasters to name a few. When the time comes, youll be glad you saved the money rather than spending it. would recomend 10% of your after-tax income. It is best to think of this as a percentage of your income rather than a at amount. This way, when your income increases, your savings will too. column on the left for each month adding each months amount to the previous months total. Repeat this step until your savings balance goal is reached. If you save 10% of your income, it will take you 30 months to save three months worth of income.

Second, decide how much you can save every month. We

Third, write down your desired monthly savings amount in the

Finally, implement your plan and stick to it. Dont let the

things you want today prevent you from getting the things youll need tomorrow. It may be hard, but in the end, it will be well worth the eort.

ReadyFinances Debt Reduction Calendar

Use this debt reduction calendar to make a plan for eliminating your debt as soon as possible. The key is to make sure that your total debt repayment stays the same as your individual debts are payed o. In other words, when you pay o a debt that is usaully a $150.00 per month payemt, instead of thinking Now I have $150.00 more to spend each month, you need to think Now I have $150 more to put toward paying o my other debts. Heres how it works:

First, write the names of the months in the left hand column beginning with the upcoming month. Second, write the names of your creditors in the colums at the top of the worksheet, beginning with the creditor you

want to pay o rst (usually this is the one with the highest interest rate or earliest pay-o date). Third, beginning with creditor 1 write the monthly amound due in the in the rows beneath the creditor for as many months it will take to pay o the entire debt. Finally, write the monthly amound due for creditor 2 until the month when creditor 1 is payed o. Then add the amount you were paying to creditor 1 to your creditor 2 payments, continue this process until all your debts are payed o and you will have saved yourself a signicant amount of money in interest payments.
