My Happiest Day By Abdullah (Saudi Arabia) My happiest day was in Indonesia. We went to Bunshak in the Green Mountains. These mountains are very nice for a family. I went to Taman Safari with my family. This is the biggest zoo in Indonesia. You drive your car inside the zoo. This zoo is like a real jungle. The zebras, llamas, deer, and other animals walk to you to eat something like a carrot. Behind a big, iron door, there are animals that eat meat. There are lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, and bears. The police say not to open the window, because these animals will eat you. After that, you leave your car in the parking lot. You go shopping or eat something or go to the baby zoo. The baby zoo has small animals like very small tigers and monkeys. You can take a picture with a small animal. This day was very fun for me. 1 My Brother By Ahmed (Saudi Arabia) My brothers name is Salman. He is 15 years old. He likes to play football and video games. WRITING THREE
A Dreamy Dream By Heidimarie (Germany) One cool Saturday evening, I was dead tired, so I went to bed early. Not long after, I fell into a deep sleep. I lay on a big lawn. It was full of red and yellow flowers, stretched against the sun. I lay in the middle of the lawn and breathed a long deep breath. I felt like I was on a white cloud. A flower petal fell down and tingled my nose, and I took another deep breath. I breathed out, and the flower petal danced in the air. I breathed in, and she touched my nose. This went on for a long time until the flower petal flew in my mouth. Suddenly, I woke up, and I coughed and coughed, and then I felt a little feather in my hand. My dream ended quickly, and I was sad, but I hoped I could fall fast asleep again. My Life on the Island By Hashem (Saudi Arabia) My life is a small island near the sea. It is green because of big waters. My home has two floors. Many people live on the island. On the left side of the island, there is a big school and next to the school, there is a small university. On the right side, there are stores, and all the people shop in them. On the north end of the island, it is very nice. It is a place to swim and sit and drink coffee. All the people like that. The people are happy living on the island because everyone is friendly, and it isnt expensive. All the teachers are smart. The food is healthy. It is nice, not dirty. I am happy there. One night, when I was sleeping, I dreamed about my favorite car, the Mustang GT. Actually, I always talked with my father about it, so I guess thats why I dreamed about it. While I was sleeping, I dreamed I had one. I was driving it and racing, and them my father woke me up. After that, I was angry. I didnt want to wake up because it was an amazing dream. I told my father about my dream, and he said I cant buy this car for you. Its very fast, and it only has one door. In fact, he meant by only one door, I cant take my family with me anywhere. However, one day I will buy it when I get a job. I hope my dream comes true. A Nice Dream By Ahmad (Saudi Arabia) Last night, I dreamed a pretty dream that drove me to be happy in it. First, I saw the big door with shiny jewelry pounded in it. When I opened the door, I stopped for a while, and breathed the fresh breeze. Then I walked around until I arrived at a long lake. It had water of silver. I took some of it in my hand and tried to drink it. Mmm delicious water. I had never drunk anything like it. I continued to walk until I arrived at a group of trees. I stopped to browse at the nice birds. They were shining like stars in the sky. Finally, I saw a group of lions. The King Simba, who was the head, came to me and invited me to celebrate with them. We were enjoying our time together, but there was one problem. During the celebration, one of them ate me. You know, I discovered that if you want to dream a funny dream, you watch a cartoon movie. My Best Dream By Ahmed (Saudi Arabia) My Mustang By Abdulrahman (Saudi Arabia) 2 One night, I went to sleep and began the best dream

I ever had. When I went to bed, I was thinking about what I was going to do the next day. I finally relaxed and fell asleep. Then I started to dream I was a businessman. I had a very big company, and I traveled every day. I also had a beautiful wife, two nice boys, and four cute daughters. One day, I planned to go to the moon in my rocket. I went to the station, got in my rocket, and the time counted down. Suddenly, there was a very loud sound. What is this? It was my alarm. I finally woke up. At that time, I really wished I had never turned on the alarm. It was the best dream I had ever had. My Favorite Dream By Abdullah (Saudi Arabia) One night, after dinner, I went to my room. I was busy thinking about a lot of things, like my language, my family, my country, and my friends. When I got in bed, I was very tired because of all the thinking. When I finally went to sleep, I had the best dream of my life. To tell the truth my problem is money. I know it doesnt matter, but I dont want my father to have to pay for me. I dreamed the Mission called me, and they said, Mr. Alghamdi, we are the Mission of Saudi Arabia. You have a scholarship now, can you send your number? That was the best dream, and now, I pray to God every day because I want my dream to be true. I have heard that if you think about something before you go to sleep, sometimes you will dream about it, and sometimes it will come true. My Dream By Muhammed (Saudi Arabia) A lot of people dream, but I have a different and exciting dream. Three weeks ago, I dreamed I was going to buy a new car in my country with my

father and brother. When my brother drove to the car dealer, my father said I shouldnt be nervous about driving the new car. When I was driving the new car, I was happy and lively, but I was worried because I was afraid to do something wrong. Then I woke up everyone in my family to show them the new car, but when the dream was over, I was pessimistic because it wasnt real. I feel when I get that car in the future, I will be optimistic with my life and my family. I think when someone wants something, he has to be painstaking with his life, and he may achieve his dream. My Bad Dream By Ahmed (Saudi Arabia) When I was ten years old, I dreamed I went with my friends to Egypt. We saw a lot of horses and camels when we arrived. Then I said to my friends, lets ride the horses or the camels, and they said, Thats a good idea, so we decided to ride the horses. When we were riding the horses, they started running very fast, and one of my friends fell down off the horse. Then we took him to the hospital, but we couldnt find a doctor. When we left, I saw one old woman in the street, and she asked us what happened to our friend, so we told her the story. After that, she told us to bring him to her home. Then she made some juice for him, and he told us he was fine now. Next, he said, Im going to give a gift to the woman. He bought her a ring. After that, we went to Al-gahra city, and we took a tour with a person from Egypt by bus. When he was driving the bus, he was sleepy. We were all asleep, and then we woke up in the hospital. When we asked the doctor what happened to us, he said we turned over in the road. After that, I woke up, and I was happy it wasnt true.

WRITING FOUR
Education By Adnan (Saudi Arabia) The meaning of education is an activity of learning in school, college, etc There is a question people always wonder about: What does education mean? For me, education is one of three: future, knowledge, and sometimes life. For some education means a future. Most of the time its the government. The education philosophy is when you educate kids from a young age; you can have a new country. So, lets think about it. If you have two kids, and you send one of them to school and let the other one do whatever he wants. What do you think will happen? As everyone knows, the educated kid will grow up and maybe be a doctor, or scientist, police officer, etc. The other one, 3 what do you think he will be? I think we all know what he is going to be: nothing. So, you had better send all of your kids to school! There is an old Arabic saying: everything you read its food for your thought. Most people who finished their study or some who are old, education means knowledge. What is knowledge? We can say knowledge is everything, or information that we get by reading, watching, or by feeling. So, do you think there is any limitation for education? A lot of studies show that to educate children is easier than to educate an adult. The reason is because there is something called Critical Period (the period of time). This is the time that we have to teach children what they need to learn because after this time, their mind starts to be more complicated. Does that mean adults cant learn something? No, thats not true, because

there are a lot of adults, and sometimes seniors learn different kinds of things, including a new language. That means, if you want to learn something, go ahead, nothing will be in your way. In the other hand, can education consider a start for a new lifestyle? For sure, I think we all agree that it is true. Here is an example, if you are the owner of a company, and two people come to you asking for a job. The first one has high school degree; the other one has a bachelor degree. Who will you hire? Of course if were like any company owner, you will hire the one who has the highest degree; the bachelor degree. There is another face for this fact which is education is important in your life, I mean daily life. Imagine, if you need to do a very important thing by the Internet, but you dont know how to use a computer; or you have signs of a heart attack, but you are not educated to tell what is happening to you. There are a lot of things that if you learn even just a little information about it, you will have an easier life, or it maybe will save your life. So, the point is that education is very important to you, your kids, your country, or sometimes its important for all kinds of humans. So please, educate your kids so they will have a good life, now and in the future. Amir Temur By Akbar (Uzbekistan) I am going to illustrate Uzbek legend who lived in the IV century. He tried to build a big empire. The territory that he owned was (1/3) nearly sixty percent of Asia. He is also popular in Europe. Since, he protected Europe from the Turkish army, when they attempted to destroy them. There is a monument of Amir Temur in France. After he died his government was damaged. Technical English Learning By Ali (Saudi Arabia) When you travel anywhere in the world, one powerful language might help you. English is the most common language in the world. Do you really want to learn English? You need a natural technique to learn. Its the Human language Learning Technique. As an abbreviation for the steps you can say LTRW. It stands for Listen, Talk, Read and Write, and we will go through it step by step. LTRW, the human child usually stars learning by listening to the voices around. He tries to organize words, letters and other sounds. As an English learner, you should focus on worlds, letters, pronunciation and grammar that English speakers might use. Make sure to have a native speaker to practice with. After you organize some, you are ready to go to the second step of our LTRW steps. Our second LTRW steps are to talk. After you listen carefully to the native speaker, youre ready to try talking. Have you ever seen a human child trying 4

to talk after he listens to his parents? He makes some noise and strange voices. In fact he is trying to talk. And so you aretry itdont be shy. Some people might laugh and some may not. But keep trying and be sure that you are learning. If you make some differences with your pronunciation and have the ability of making a few sentences, you are ready to go to the next step. Step three from our LTRW steps is to read. In this step you need some interesting books. But when you choose the books, be sure that you choose a different level of books. Arrange them easiest to hardest. Then start with the easy one. Here you are learning how to read and improving your reading at the same time. Welcome to the last step from our LTRW steps. Here you need a notebook and a pen. Then you are ready to fly in the pages, drowning and expressing about your sense in English. But be careful, you might have a spelling mistake. When you find your spelling mistakes and correct them, you are doing well. Try to use a dictionary to help you find your mistakes. Congratulations, Mr. Dictionary, now you know what LTRW can do; it can change your world. Listening, Talking, Reading and Writing are your heroes. If you want to be a native speaker and improve yourself more and more you can join IEI. And dont forget to practice; this is the thing that will save your English. Marriage in the US and SA By Abdullah (Saudi Arabia) Marriage is a beautiful thing for me. It is the highest relationship between the man and the woman. The wedding is the best celebration for me; it is better than the birthday. I am going to write about the differences between weddings in Saudi Arabia and the United States of America. The location of the wedding in KSA depends on the zone. If it is in the center of the kingdom, like Riyadh, the people there do weddings in wedding halls. Some of them they do it in privacy in their homes. We call it marriage family. In the south of the kingdom, the people do the wedding in a big tent. It is a very big tent. The tent area is like 200 meters. Some of them, they do wedding in the high mountains in the cities like Abha or Najran. I really enjoy it when I go to this wedding because I am from Najran. In the USA, the people they do the wedding in the church or in the bride house. The wedding guests in KSA in all regions of the kingdom. The guests they wear a thop it is traditional clothing. It is a white dress. They also wear besht; it is a black clothing; we wear it on the thop. We wear shimag; they wear it on their head. In the USA the bride wears a white dress or a cream dress and she wears a veil. She also holds a bouquet in her hand. The groom, he wears a black suit or tuxedo. And the guest. The men, they wear a black suit, and

the women, they wear a beautiful dress. The culture wedding in KSA. In the wedding the Imam, he is responsible for the wedding. The dance is part of the Saudi Arabian culture, it depends on the zone. I like the center of the kingdom; they dance with the sword, for example. They stand for one long line, they holding there left hands and with their right hand they bring the sword to the top and they bring it down. We call it Alarthah Alnajdiah. On the south of the kingdom they dance with daggers, for example. In Najran, the guests in the wedding, they make a big circle and there is two men dance with the dagger. One of our culture in Najran, the groom, he should be the last one to leave the wedding. One of our greatest cultures is that I like it so much that you give the groom money, sheep or a camel. The men and women are separate; the men, they have their own determination and the women have their own determination. I remember when I was a kid I can go to the womens place, they have their own DJ and they have the best food. In the USA, the priest, he is responsible for the wedding. The guests, they dance tango, or salsa. The bride and the groom, they put a list of what they want and the guests can choose what they can bring for them. In the USA, the men are with the women. The wedding food in KSA, it depends on the zone; in the center, they serve Middle Eastern buffet, and we have the best food in the Middle East, Mofatah. Mofatah is a whole big lamb, sheep or camel, and we put it in a large dish with delicious rice with fried onions, and with raisins on top. It is the same in the south, but no buffet. The dessert we serve basbousa, Aom Ali, and Konafa and the Arabic coffee and dates. In the USA, some of them, dont serve food in the wedding; it is expensive for them, and some of them, they bring snacks like biscuits with cheese or ranch, and some of them, they serve buffet and they make toast with wine or champagne. I wrote four differences between the wedding in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America. Wherever is the differences, it is beautiful for me. Being a Driver By Cigdem (Turkey) The car is freedom in all countries, but all countries dont have the same situation. For example, the drivers seat is on the left in a lot of countries, but in a few its on the right. This essay will tell about the driving similarities and differences in Turkey and the U.S. We have a long drivers license process in my country, Turkey. We should pass a few exams. Firstly, we take a driving course and then we take paper test and finally, we take driving test. After that we can use a car. Driving courses, paper test and driving test are very complex, but in the U.S. there are just two exams for drivers license. First test is a 5

paper test. They test your traffic knowledge. Second test is a driving test. This test is for your driving ability. So, if you fail the exam you can take a new test one week later. In my opinion, America is better than Turkey, because processes are very easy and short. Secondly, I will tell differences and similarities about getting a car in Turkey and the U.S. A car is costly in Turkey. If we have a car, we should pay taxes, so cars are too expensive in Turkey. Thats why everybody doesnt have a car in my country, but everybody has a car in the U.S., because cars are cheaper and its necessary for the American people. A residential is so far from other residential. If cars are cheaper, everybody has a car. Thats why if something is cheap, we can take it. The roads are a very important subject for driving. I will tell about the roads differences and similarities in Turkey and the U.S. Turkey is an old country. Turkish drivers are impatient. Because, it has narrow and old ways. The people dont like to drive. However, the U.S. is a newer country than Turkey. It has new and big roads. Thats why drivers can be patient on the road. Both countries have solid traffic rules. A lot of traffic signs mean the same in both countries. For example, we use the same stop sign in Turkey. Traffic lights have the same meaning: red lights mean stop, green lights mean pass and yellow lights are wait. Every country has a different situation. Some countries have conscious drivers, some countries have murder drivers. If we can be responsible to our family, we will not be murder drivers. All the time we should improve ourselves. Culture By Diane (Brazil) Each culture has its own customs. The word culture is better defined based on some examples. Lets talk about the culture between Brazil and the U.S. The fact that different groups speak different languages, play different sports and celebrate different holidays is evidence that those cultures are different. The Portuguese and the English have an important connection with Brazilian and American culture. The Brazilian culture is formed by Portuguese version of the traditional Western European civilization. The American culture is formed by an English version, so English is the dominate language of that country. Playing soccer and football is like a rule for Brazil and the U.S. Soccer is the most popular sport in Brazil, and football is the most popular sport in the U.S. In both of those countries they have the custom to teach sports to the students from the school. The holidays have different celebrations in the Brazilian culture and the U.S. culture. For example, in Brazil the carnival is the festive season,

usually in February. It is a public celebration or parade in the street. In U.S., Thanksgiving, is a historical holiday and people stay with the family. The culture comes from history and influences peoples lives, generation by generation. The language, the sports and the holidays are part of their daily lives. In each country we find a different culture with different customs, characteristics and a new way to learn. Men vs. Women By Fadiah (Saudi Arabia) Men usually say, Women cant be understood, and women say Men cant understand us. Men always think that they are the greatest human and women cant do anything by themselves. When women and men cant understand each other, they start to complain that women are from Venus and men are from mars, so to avoid misunderstanding men and women should learn about each other, what are the similarities and differences between them. Women physically arent very different from men. In general womens organs are the same as mens. But when we look for specific details, such as the skin, we can find the difference between them. Mens skin is thicker than womens skin. Also, when I said the organs of men are the same as women, I mean it is how they look. But when we look at how each organ works, we can find a lot of differences; for example womens immune system is active and works fast to fight against viruses, bacteria and fungi, more than mens. Mens and womens personalities are the most important things that they should be learned in order to know how to deal with each other. I think personalities of women and men are affected by their physical makeup. As womens hearts beat faster than mens heart. Maybe for that reason, women are usually more emotional than men, and women make decisions by her heart not by using logical thought like men do. Women usually take care of her skin contrary to men. Women want to look good for their husbands, so women take care of her makeup and her perfume. Personal care is very important to women. Otherwise men are messy and dont care which kind of soap and shampoo that he uses like women do. Mens and womens activities should be known by each other. In fact this point depends on both physical and personalities which give reasons for their activities. Men and women have abilities to have a relationship in their life, but the differences between them in the way of how to deal with and act and keep this relationship. Women love details and get deeper into the thing, but men do not; such as when women hear a story from their friends, women want to receive more details about it. Men like to receive the summary of the story. Because women love details, they have the ability to talk more than 6

men. Men and women have abilities to give in love relationship, but women give without asking. Women give unconditionally and love to help other people. On the other hand, men give only when they are asked to give. Men love to do things which are appreciated and hate to do things which make him feel more like a slave. When I compare and contrast men and women, I didnt mean that men are better than women or women are best. Both of them are equal, but they are different, which gives us a challenge to learn how to deal with each other in life, and live in peace. Causes of Insomnia By Hussain (Saudi Arabia) There are more than one causes of insomnia. One of them is having a negative feeling about the future, for example, you think that you wont succeed at working in any company or some project. Another reason for insomnia is not having a good relationship with people, for example, you have a bad attitude or have bad self-esteem, so you feel like nobody is active with you or close to you. The other one for insomnia is that youre not satisfied with your life, so most of the time you think about changing some things so you can sleep. There are three main causes that lead to insomnia. Having a negative feeling about the future is one of the biggest problems in this case. Having a bad relationship with people will cost you more than you think, for example, if you go to some places and you are stuck there because your car broke down and then you cant find a person who you know that can give you a hand. People who are not satisfied in their life, are uncomfortable, so they cant sleep well. Sports and Education By Ibrahim (Saudi Arabia) The important two things in our life are sports and education, because the athlete means the healthiness and education means the future. What Im going to talk about are sports and education, and compare them between Saudi Arabia and the United States. Saudi Arabia has two popular kinds of sports. They are soccer and volleyball. Most of the people watch socar, so it is more popular than volleyball. Both of them are important. In Saudi Arabia, you will see the people play soccer and volleyball in public places and parks for fun. The United States have many different kinds of sports. The popular two sports Ive heard about are football and golf. Usually, the old people play golf more than others, because they have more free time. You will see the guys and kids playing football everywhere. Generally, all kinds of sports are really important and healthy. In Saudi Arabia, the education from

elementary school until high school is really hard, because the teachers expect more. Also, you can get into university easily and most of the universities belong to the government, so you dont have pay to go there. The government pays for your books, too. In the United States, education from elementary school until high school is really easy. I think because most of their teachers are girls, and girls are always lovely. The university is hard to get into for them. You must pay a lot of money, and sometimes you will have to take tests to enter these universities. The education in our present time is the future. The sports and education are the important things in our life, but they are different in some countries. Some people didnt use these things and they still have a great life. It means if you dont have sports or education, you shouldnt be pessimistic. Always be optimistic, and you will still have a pretty life. The Difference between Renting an Apartment in S.A and U.S. By Khalaf (Saudi Arabia) One time, I rented an apartment. When I wanted to leave the apartment office told me you have to clean you apartment if you want to get your deposit. There are many differences between S.A and U.S. in renting an apartment. The rules are different between S.A. and the U.S. They dont have a deposit in S.A. When you want to rent apartment, in the U.S. you must pay deposit. In S. A. you dont have to clean apartment before you leave, but in the U.S. you have to. If you dont clean it the landlord will charge you and then take your deposit. In S.A., you dont have to tell the landlord when you are going to leave. If you pay every month, the landlord will keep you, but if you dont he will ask you to leave. In U.S., you have to tell the landlord when you are going to leave. The cost is different between S.A. and the U.S. In S.A., the cost will be around $250-$300, but in U.S. it will be $650-$700 for one month. So in S.A., the cost is cheaper than U.S. Also the furniture in S.A. is cheaper than U.S. Als water, electricity, and the internet. In S.A. are cheaper than U.S. The address is going to be hard in S.A. to fine someone; it is opposite U.S. In S.A., it is hard to find an address by GPS and the other thing that makes it difficult, is that addresses are complicated. They dont have zip code or house number, but in the U.S., they have it, so its going to be easier to fine any address that you want by his zip code or house number. There are couple things for S.A. and the U.S. The first one in S.A. you dont have to pay deposit, but in U.S. you have to. The second one, in S.A., the cost of apartment is better than U.S., but the last one U.S. have zip code and house number, so all of them have a couple of perfect and wrong things. 7

Saudi Arabia and America By Abdullah (Saudi Arabia) When I came to America, it was the first time for me, so I didnt know about their traditions, and how they lived. I met someone from America on the street and I said hi to him, but he didnt say anything to me. When I told my host family about what happened, they said it is because this is their tradition, just say hi and keep walking or driving. There are many differences in tradition between Saudi Arabia and America. For instance greeting and guest. In Saudi Arabia, when you meet someone on the street and say hi to him, or he says hi to you, you must stop and shake his hand and reply hi to him, then, you can leave. Also, Saudi Arabia has another tradition, but its for visitors. Its entertainment of visitors. When you have a guest in your house, you should tell him to stay 3 days, if he is from another city. In contrast, in America, you dont have to stop to say hi to people who you meet in the road, just say hi and continue on your way. You have to know the time of sleep for your friend, who you want to visit him, because they should sleep early and dont stay up at night, because they do not accept visitor late at night. Also, we have many things to compare and contrast for the way of life in Saudi Arabia and America. First, in Saudi Arabia, most people who do not have a job or something to do, most of them between 19-23 years old do not sleep early. I mean, they stay awake all night, and then they will sleep during the day. The other thing, in Saudi Arabia, if you go, you will buy good food for your health and cheap. For example, you can get the best lunch for around three dollars. On the other hand, in America, most people between 19-23 years old are different then guys in Saudi Arabia, because American guys arrange their schedule of life to do each thing on time. For example, when someone has a lot of things in his day, he has to arrange his schedule on what is important and priority to do first. American people also have a big problem with their food in two ways. First way, its more expensive than Saudi Arabia. Second way, that food is not health for body because most of their food is fast food like McDonalds or Burger King. They like fast food because they have a lot of important things or jobs to do. So, fast food takes a short time to give you the food to eat. Third thing we will talk about is the weather in these countries, and how can they live in their weather and whats the effect on them. In Saudi Arabia, its always hot, sunny, and humid. According to these factors, Saudi people dont like to live in cold area because the cold will make them lazy and hungry most of the time. In contrast, in America, they have all four seasons, that is better because American people can live in four situations in life and if they go to any different country they can adapt to

other seasons. As you see, we compared and contrasted between three big things, its customs, guests, and traditions of each country. Its interesting and useful

for people who read them. To have a background about these countries and know what to do when you visit Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.

Three Aspects of Music By Jaekab (South Korea) What do you listen to when you listen to music? Many people may not care about it, the might say, Ive never thought about it. Or Who cares?, Im just listening to music. That might be peoples common perspective on music. But there are several aspects that many people ignore whenever they are listening. If you recognize certain points, listening to music will be more joyful. I will explain three points: Groove, Song Form, and Harmony. Also, these are common points to more deeply understand all styles of music. First of all I want to introduce you to Groove. In other words, a rhythmic movement that makes you want to dance. Groove is the strong effect of the feeling of the music. It is a crucial point that helps people define the music genre depending on the different groove styles. Furthermore, the groove can strongly affect the same music. For example, there are two songs: Ben E. Kings Stand By Me and John Lennons Stand By Me. Even though, both are the same song we can recognize different musical feelings because of the different rhythmic feelings. The Groove is the most important aspect in terms of composing and arranging music. Second is the Song Form. Like the structure of a building there are several sections in music. Usually, it consists of verse, pre-chorus, chorus, and bridge. When music flows from the start to the end spontaneously, the musical atmosphere is changing. Such as in the song Hey Jude it starts with only vocal and piano. And when it goes to the next section, guitar, bass, and tambourine instruments are played to increase the sound. After going to the climax section that sings Na, Na, Na, Nananana, Na, every instrument is played powerfully then the chorus vocals fade out to the ending. Through the structure of one song we can easily understand a composers intention to change the dynamics. Lastly, I want to mention the Harmony of instruments. Its effect is a beautiful sound. The sound that is combined with various instruments greatly affects our emotions. Each instrument can create a different musical feeling. For instance, there are two different versions of Little Wing. One is Jimi Hendrixs and the other version is The Corrs. We can feel that both have a totally different sound that comes from different instruments. The atmosphere of Jimis feeling is close to the Rock and Blues feel which is played by the drum and bass guitar. On the other hand, The Corrs Little Wing feels more Irish. It is played using a tiny whistle and violin that produces a more flowing feel. Each instrument produces its own unique feeling. The combined sounds of different instruments give us comfort and pleasure. To sum up, these three points: Groove, Form, and Harmony are important points to be aware of whenever listening to music as well as when composing or arranging music. I recommend trying to focus on these three points so that you will be given a more joyful heart from the music. How to be Successful at IEI By Latifah (Saudi Arabia) IEI is a school for international students to learn English. It is one of the great English schools in Nashville. If I were asked to help someone to be a successful student at IEI I would do my best to give him all the information to help. There are strategies to being a good, successful student. First of all you have to be a good person. Respect everyone and respect yourself and reflect on your good personality by respecting your teachers and your friends in school. For example, if a new student is rude and doesnt respect anyone around him, try to avoid him and not give him the help that he needs to improve himself. So, behavior is very important and it is like the gate to be a successful student at IEI. Second, you have to follow all of the school rules. There are very important rules to be followed by students to make the school the best place and an organized place for all of the students. For example, one of the rules is to come to the class on time. If you are always late to your class you are not following the school rule and you cant be successful at the end of the term because you always miss your class or are late and do not know what happened inside the class to prepare yourself for studying at home. There are several sets of rules to help the students to be successful and pass the classes and improve their language skills very quickly. 8

Third, to be a successful student you have to do all of your homework and assignments. In addition, you have to be active in the class by talking to other students and share your ideas with them. This also helps you communicate with others easily and supports your being an active student who has the ability to speak and show your point of view. If you stay silent without talking with anyone during school hours, you cannot make any improvements to help yourself become a successful student. Finally, the students at IEI should do their best by studying hard day and night in order to be a successful person in the U.S. not only as a student at IEI. Being a good person, showing good behavior to others, following all of the school rules, doing all of the homework and assignments are the success keys to becoming a successful student at IEI. Global Warming: Is It Man-Made? Or Is It Earth's Natural Activities By Sattam (Saudi Arabia) Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation, result of the increase of CO2 in our air that caused by human activities, and Which will emerge out of control at some point. That is the image that the media has pictured. There are other theories that explain the reasons of the global warming. One of them is very interesting. Who's behind this drama? By searching I found that there is organization called IBBC. It's an American pop-up organization from the International Meteorological society. And there are individual efforts by Senator Al Gore who received the Nobel Peace Prize. The atmosphere currently contains 385 ppm of carbon dioxide gas, which is the primary cause of global warming compared to the 275 ppm that were present in the atmosphere before the Industrial Revolution. Hence, we note that the amount of carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere became higher by about 30% more than a little of what it was before the Industrial Revolution Tschimh. Rate of absorption of infrared rays 55% (Wikipedia). There are a lot of expectations that will happen in the future. They expect there will be an increase occurrence of droughts and desertification of large tracts of land, extinction of a lot of creatures, and agricultural disasters. the main cause of this increase is the smoke that comes out from the factories. So, the organization started to take money like a tax from companies to limits this problem. On the other hand, there are people against this theory. There is an English science professor Philip Stout from a university in London, who Said that IBBC is an organization with management, and finance, it serves specific interests perhaps the interests of the globe and perhaps the interests of other things. And Nigel Calder from the BBC and writer in New Scientist Magazine said they and the power of the media have made the global warming theory a belief, in fact they made it a religion one must believe in, and whoever stands in its way is an infidel, and I am one of those infidels. The first point of this theory is that global warming is a natural process. There are scientists from Switzerland who did some chemical analysis of samples which they took from the Antarctic which proves that the earth went through many stages in the past, and that the average of CO2 was less and more than now. Now the average of CO2 is 385 ppm, in 1859 the average of Co2 was 280 ppm, and before 1850 the average was 200 ppm. So, we conclude that the carbon dioxide gas has increased by nearly 30%. But the important question is, who is the responsible for the increase of the carbon dioxide gas before 1850 since we know the Industrial Revolution started about 1850. The second point is in January 2009, the International Organization for Meteorological studied that in 2005 the average temperature of the earth was 14.77 if known the normal average temperature of the earth is 14,and in 1998 the average was 14.7. But in 2008 they found that the temperature was 14.3. That means the heat has been reduced from 14.77 to 14.3.So, the change in the temperature is 0.5+ or 0.5-. I have written these numbers according to NASA's global temperature record. Furthermore, the third point is a study in a university in England. They have studied some samples that they took from the Antarctic, and the layers of the trunk of trees. They noticed that the earth went through two periods of time from 800 to 2000. From 890 to 1170 the temperature was in its maximum heat, the scientists called it the Hot Middle Age. And from 1350 to 1750 the weather was in its maximum cold, and the scientists called it the Middle Ice Age. We can see that the two periods have the same duration; the two of them lasted for 300 years. So, the earth is going to experience another of hot age. But we're not talking about 10 or 15 years it will take hundreds or less to have a hot age or an ice age. In conclusion, both theories are strong the first theory is caused by the human activities and the second that it's caused by nature and it's a period of time and the climate will back to its normal weather. The opponents of the global warming theory think that it's a waste of money and a way to keep the poor countries from developing. And the people who support the theory of global warming say that supporting this idea is a way to get away from carbon tax. In my opinion doing something is better than doing nothing. Because if the global warming is wrong it's only a loss of money, but if the global warming is true it'll be a disaster. Therefore, a lot of changes will take place on our planet. However there is an Egyptian saying, ''stay away from the evil, do something, and sing for it''. 9

Death or Isolation from the Society Forever By Taewoo (South Korea) Since the 1950s, the death penalty has been one of the most controversial issues in almost every country. However, nowadays, the death penalty has been magnified as an even bigger controversy because committing murder has been happening a lot. This is also because people who agree with the death penalty and other people who disagree have conflicted with each other very sharply. Both sides make a lot of claims with appropriate evidence. Especially, people who agree with capital punishment argue that murderers dont have rights to live. However, I disagree with them because when I consider about crime deterrence of the death penalty, the death penalty cannot decrease the murder rate. Also, because a human beings life is much more invaluable than any other thing, people cannot kill another person, even if it is based on the law. Furthermore, even if we abolish the death penalty, we can still utilize a life sentence without parole, which means not to kill criminals without pain, but to let them live in the jail forever under observation. First of all, we need to define that the value of a human beings life is more important than any other thing. This is why almost all countries recognize the equal value of every human beings life. However, the death penalty does not match with this value. No matter how many times someone commits murder, that person is still a human being and this means that the murderer should be treated as one of human beings. However, the death penalty completely ignores the dignity of human beings. The death penalty defines that a person who commits murder or something harmful to people should compensate them for their loss by giving up his or her own life. However, even if murderers are killed by the law, people who were murdered by them never return to us. It is meaningless, and is just revenge for killing other people based on the law. In other words, the idea of eye for an eye is not justice. Even if murderers are not executed, we can give them much more pain by forcing them to live in jail forever. Also, if the death penalty intends to isolate criminals from the society by death, this can be substituted for a life sentence, which means that a prisoner cannot be released on parole no matter how well the prisoner behaves. This substitution might be more effective than the death penalty because murderers can have enough time to feel sorry for the victims they killed, which is one reason for punishment. When people agree with capital punishment, they usually say that if we abolish the death penalty, crimes will happen much more than before because imprisonment can be understood as a weaker punishment for criminals. However, there is no difference in the crime rate between a life sentence and the death penalty. According to a new survey by The New York Times, it was found that states without the death penalty have lower homicide rates than states with the death penalty. The Times reports that ten of the twelve states without the death penalty have homicide rates below the national average, whereas half of the states with the death penalty have homicide rates above. During the last 20 years, the homicide rate in states with the death penalty has been 48% to 101% higher than in states without the death penalty. In other words, a life sentence without parole has more deterrence than the death penalty. Also, this information can demonstrate that a life sentence is never a weak punishment. In addition, while the death penalty does not give them time to consider what they did wrong, a life sentence can give them plenty of time to do that. Furthermore, even if they want to die due to the guilt about killing people, they have to live in jail forever with this guilt. That is, staying in jail forever under observation and strict rules is more painful than being executed. If people want to give a lot of pain to murderers, a life sentence is a better idea than the death penalty. To sum up, people who disagree with the death penalty stress that even if the death penalty is legal, it is not justice because we cannot kill other people no matter how terrible their crime. In addition, the death penalty has a serious problem, it might kill people who are not guilty. Furthermore, even if we abolish the death penalty, we can use a life sentence as a substitution. Of course, people who agree with the death penalty claim that they do not want their taxes to be used for criminals to live in jail forever. However, what we should know is that a human beings life is the most invaluable thing. Even if they are criminals, they are also human beings, and a human beings life cannot be compared with the amount of money used to make criminals live in jail.

LoveEthic,Moral&Law=Interactive controlling reliability By Taichi Ace (Japan) Recently, the TV drama (You Taught Me All the Precious Things) is causing great controversy in Japan, especially among adolescents and the people who are connected to education. One of the most audacious aspects of this drama is its prologue: Natsumi is a high school English teacher who is well-liked by her students. She plans to marry Shuji, her high school and college classmate, and who is now her colleague. Shuji is a biology teacher who is popular not only among the students but also with their parents and 10

with his co-workers. Natsumi and Shuji are the perfect couple who have everybody's blessing. But one day just before the new school semester begins, Shuji spends the night with his student, Hikari. This incident changes the couple's future completely. As you can see, this shocking story has caused a stir in Japanese society. Romantic relationships between teachers and students have intermittently drawn public concern in Japan. Indeed, several TV dramas and movies have been created which also discussed this issue. Yet, the majority of people in Japan believe that romantic relationships between teachers and students are taboo. This opinion has never been changed. Although many think that love between a teacher and a student is a forbidden relationship, in my opinion, it should be accepted publicly and not considered taboo. Opponents of Romantic relationships between teachers and students strongly claim that Teachers should treat their students equally. It is true that teachers should not have any illegitimate favor for their students at school. Most junior high schools and high schools have their original rules to ban the relationships. Actually, even the language school where we are learning English has a same policy: Faculty and staff are expected to maintain appropriate teacher/student relationships at all time. This includes not dating students or engaging in romantic or sexual relationships with students. We recognize that since we are an adult school, there are opportunities to meet wonderful people. If a desire to pursue such a relationship develops, the faculty/staff is expected to resign in order to pursue the relationship. On the other hand, in spite of engaging in a teaching position, they are Human before they are teachers, thus, of course they have basic civil liberties. In fact, the constitution of Japan states that all citizens have fundamental human rights such as thought/conscience, religion, assembly/association, residence, occupation, and academic freedom. Also, fundamental human rights ensure that all people shall have freedom to marriage and love. This means that the person who is a teacher has a freedom to love whatever else it might be. Hence, if a teacher and a student are in love, it should not be banned, restricted or decried by anybody and everybody as long as it is true and pure love. Moreover, inequalities and illegitimate favors are caused by not only the relationships between teachers and student, but there are some other factors; for instance, preferences, wellconnected background, bribe, extortion and so forth. For this, romantic relationship is not the only cause of the degeneration of teachers. Opponents also maintain that the ordinance for the protection and nurture young people prohibits romantic relationships between teachers and students. In Japan, having sex with an under 13-year-old juvenile is forbidden by penal code. In addition, the ordinance which is set by each local government bans having sex with adolescents under 18-years-old. The principal reason for the ordinance is to protect young people from sexual crimes and contribute to the sound growth of juveniles and adolescents. Specifically, the ordinance prohibits adults from satisfying their own sexual gratification by engaging in obscene acts with children under 18 by cheating, trapping, or intimidation. However, many layers and experts have pointed out the problems with this ordinance since it was established. Actually, the ordinance has a possibility that it is unconstitutional because it ignores the fundamental human rights which I mentioned before. Besides that, the definition of obscene acts is obscure and the criterion for serious love is also unclear. In 1985, one adult man was sued because he was having a love relationship with a 16-year-old girl. At the end of this case, he was pronounced guilty, meanwhile, three judges of Supreme Court argued that the ordinance was against the constitution, so he is innocent. Furthermore, Japan established Child Pornography Law and Child Welfare Act to protect juveniles and adolescents from sinister sex indecent acts, sexual exploitation and whoredom/prostitution. Thus, the ordinance which can cause the possibility to block pure love relationships has been criticized that as unnecessary. The final argument oppose to opponents is that we should change in thinking of this matter. I think that I have been feeling like that Im becoming an expert of this issue because I read a lot of articles, discussions, and precedents about it. Then, I have reached one resolution. The main reason that makes romantic relationships between teachers and students more aversive is negative images and stereotypes of people about this issue. This situation pushes teachers and students who are having the relationships to be outside of the society. As a result, teachers are forced to resign their job, students start missing school, a teacher and a student try to elope somewhere, and in the worst case, they commit suicide together. To stop this negative spiral, expert Taichi(Ace) produces a completely opposite idea to an existing one and its a sort of a conceptual breakthrough. The idea is accepting romantic relationships between teachers and students publicly/generally as one of ordinary thing, and constructing a new structure Interactive Controlling Reliability (ICR). ICR is a kind of collaborative alliance between teacher/student who are having the relationship and their family/friends. For example, if a student tends to receive priority responses by his/her partner (teacher), another teacher or classmate reminds them to maintain equality. Likewise, parents of a student who is having the relationship with his/her teacher supervise them to control their relationship appropriately. Even though, changing deep-seated taboos and stereotypes is very difficult, if we make such a positive structure, recent controversial situations will be calmed or it will be solved. It should be evident that arguments against romantic relationships between teachers and students are not valid. Generally, teachers should not be allowed to love with their students because teachers are supposed to take care of their students fairly and impartially, however, teachers shall have freedom to love based on the fundamental human rights of the constitution. Furthermore, the ordinance for protection and nurture young people is inconclusive and nonsense. Actually, validity and presence of the ordinance has been discussed for a long time. Finally, I got a 11

paradigm shift, precisely the opposite interpretation, accept and respect the relationships and also cooperate with each other to keep the relationships appropriate. Construct ICR can improve the relationships between teachers and students more positively. Therefore, in my opinion, Japanese society should allow teacher/student romantic relationships.
