IntroductiontoOROPDesert

ThestoryofOROPDesertislongandcomplicated.LetusbeginwiththewordOROP. Thiswordwascoinedtodesignatealloperationsonthepartofhumanbeings regardingDESERT.Deserthereincludesdrought,atmosphericconditionswhichlead todroughtanddesert,andthetechnicalmeans,basedonthescientificunderstanding ofnature,whichcould,possibly,dosomethingbeneficialaboutthepreventionof droughtanddesertdevelopment. "OR"isincludedbecausethescientificdataunderlyingourtechnologicaldataon desertdevelopmenthavebeenworkedoutintherealm,method,researchand technicaldevelopmentofthought,whichdiffersfromothersystemsofthinkinginthatit isneithermechanisticnormystical,butfunctional,energetic. Thus,"OROP"comestodesignateengineeringoperationsinvolvingtheCOSMIC ENERGYFUNCTIONS. ThisdoesnotendtheintroductionofOROPDesert.Thephysicaldesertoutsidein natureisamatterofmillenniaofcosmicevents.Manyplacesonourplanetwereonce flourishinggreen,fruitbearingcountrysideswhichnourishedrichandhappyhuman culturesandcivilizations.Only25,000yearsago,theSouthwestoftheUSA,sothe archaeologistsandgeologiststellus,wasinhabitedbymenlivingongreenlands.This istrue,withoutgoingintodetailedproofhere,oftheNileDelta,andthelandwhere Jesushadwalkedtheearthonly2,000yearsago,thewholeregionaroundNazareth, todaysubsumedunderthename"NearEast".Wearetoldbyhistorians,too,thatother regions,suchastheMexicanandSouthAmericanplainsandvalleys,todaypoor, wereoncerich.This,Isuppose,isalsotrueoftheRomanEmpire,todayreducedtoa poor,plagueravagedItaly. Whatunderliesthemakingofdeserts? Itisobviousthatdesertsarenotmerelyproductsofsomeunknowneventsinnature; theyarespreadingmoreandmoreovervastregionsofourglobe.Thesevere droughtswhichthreatentoextinguishallhumanexistencearetrulyfunctionsofdesert development.Thefollowingchart,takenfromUSNews&WorldReportdepictsthe spreadingofthismenaceintheUSAtoday.

Thepointtobestressedintheapproachtotheproblemofdesertdevelopmentisthis: Desertsarebasedonnaturalfunctionswhichoperateinthedirectionofdehydrationof theatmosphereandsoil,i.e.,death.However,manwouldhaveconqueredthedesert andwouldhavebeencapableofhaltingthedevelopmentofdeserthadhehimselfnot beensubjectedtoaprocessinhisemotionalstructure,aprocesswhichweshall designateas"EmotionalDesert". Manhimselfisresponsiblefordesertmakinganddesertbreaking.Manhasthetools ofknowledgeandthetoolsoftechnologyatisdisposaltodaytocombatdesert development,andeventoturnexistentdesertsbackintogreen,richpasturesforman andanimalalike. ThefirstobstacleinthewayofOROPDesertisnottheouterdesert,buttheinner, emotionaldesertofman. Thisisahighlyresponsiblestatement,indeed:itwilltakesharpfactstoproveit.Again: Manhimselfpreventsnowandhaspreventedovertheagesthecombatofdeserts. Desertmakingoutsideinnaturecorrespondstothemakingofemotionaldesertsinour infantsbeforeandafterbirth,overtheages,allthroughandfarbeyondthewritten historyofmankind.Boththeinnerandouterdesertarerootedintheprocessof shrinkageanddyingof"vitality",immobilizationofbiologicalenergy.

WeshallfromnowonwarddesignateoperationsregardingtheouterdesertasOROP Desert,andregardingtheinnerdesertasOREPDesert.OREPmeansOperations RegardingtheEmotionalPlague(EP)ofmankind. WearebynowquitefamiliarwithwhatthetermEmotionalPlague,brieflyEP,means. Wehaveexperiencedthedeadly,desertlikequalityoftheEPinsuchhumanactivities astwoworldwarsofglobalproportionsinonegeneration,withhundredsofmillions killedormaimedandothermillionsrenderedtothestateofstarvationanddestitution undertheyokeimposedbydesertsouls. Letusnotatthispointgofurtherintheexplorationoftheidentitiesofouterandinner desert.Itmaysufficetohaveindicatedthebasicpoint.Weshallencounterthis identity,oncefocused,againandagainintheconcretefunctionsofOROPDesert. Thefollowingreportwascompiledfromrecords,19521953,duringthelastmonthsof 1953.Reportsonoperationsin1954willbepublishedinfutureissuesofCORE.

Chapter1 Expansion&ContractionintheAtmosphericOREnergy

Letusnow,inpreparationforamoredifficulttask,takearespiteformthegrave problemsofbasicnaturalresearch;letuswanderaboutinthefieldofnature,asifon vacation,justlookingandenjoyingthings.Ourcompassinthenewterritorywillbeonly afewwellknownlawsoforgonomicfunctioning;weshallobservetheatmospherein anunbiasedwayasifnothingatallwereknownaboutit.Thenweshallmeetwith whattheobservantfarmerknowsabouttheweather. (1)SmokefromChimneys~ Intheopencountryside,somefromchimneysdriftseitherstraightupwardsoritlingers moreorlessparalleltotheground.Somefarmerspredictgoodweatherwhenthe smokedriftsstraightupward,andbadweatherwhenthesmokedriftshorizontally.Is thereanyobjectivetruthinthisrule?

Orgonomicobservationandreasoningtellus:TheORenergyenvelopeexpandsand reachesfaroutintospaceingoodweather;ontheotherhand,itwithdrawsand concentratesatthesurfaceoftheglobebeforetheonsetofbadweather(Rheumatic andcancerouspatientsreacttothiscontractionwith"pullingpains".Thebioenergetic systemrespondstothesurroundingORenergyocean).Thebluehazedisappears fromthemountains;themountainsappeartobecloser.ThiswithdrawalofORenergy fromcertainplacesanditsconcentrationinotherregionsneedsweakensthe expansiveforceintheatmosphericORenergywhichisdirectedagainstthepullof gravity.Thesmokefromchimneyswillnotbeabletoliftstraightintotheatmosphere againstthepullofgravity.Ontheotherhand,withevenandstrongexpansionofOR energytheexpansiveforcewhichcounteractsgravityispowerfulenoughtomakethe smokedriftstraightupwards.Weshallencounterthisbehaviorinadifferentcontext,in aviation. (2)Fog~ Thebehaviorofsmokefromchimneysfallsinlinewiththebehavioroffogonearly autumnmornings.Onwarmsummerdaysthereisrarelyanyfoginthevalleys betweenmountainsexceptinhigherandcolderregions.Inautumn,ontheotherhand, fogdevelopseasilyinlowlyingvalleys.Asthesunrises,thefogdisperses,incertain valleys,thefogdriftshorizontallyfirstbeforeitrisesanddisperses. Whatcouldbethereasonforthisbehavior,differentinsummerandautumn,orin colderandhigher,asagainstinwarmerandlowerregions? Hereagain,wemustthinkofthedispersive,expansivequalitiesofORenergy.In summer,inwarmerandinlowerregionstheexpansive,antigravityactionofthe atmosphericORenergyisstrongerthanincolderorhigherregionsandinautumn. Thereislesspoweravailabletocarrythewatervaporandtodisperseithighupthanis availableonarmdays,inlowerregions.Thewatervaporwillnotbeabletodisperseor torise.Theresultwillbewhatiscalled"fog". Whenthesunmountsoverthehorizon,itexertsmoreandmoreexcitationuponthe weakenedORenergy.Thedispersive,expansivepowerofthelatterincreases;itis nowbetterabletodisperseandcarrythewatervapors:thefogliftsanddisperses. Clouds,ifany,slowlydisappear.

(3)Arid&RainyRegions~ WehavenowlearnedabouttherelationshipofatmosphericORenergyandsmall particlesofsmokeandwatervapor.Thus,betterequipped,ourobservations,aswe wanderthroughtheopencountryside,becomemoreacute.Weseemoreandwe understandbetterwhatwesee:thingswhichremainedunobservedormisunderstood asthe"Oh,that'snothing,justthisorthat"varietybecometransparenttooureyes.Let usgoonestepfurther: Itiswellknownthattheairoverhotdesertsremainsdry,thatitneveroronlyrarely rainsthere.Itisalsoknownthatduringsomesummersinsomeregionswherethereis muchwaterinrivers,inlakesandintheground,itdoesnotrainformonthsonend, withresultingfiredangertovillagesandforests. Ontheotherhand,thereareregionswhereitrainsnearlycontinuously,wheretheair ismoistandheavydowntotheearth,andithappensthatitrainsforweeksonend. Wheredoesallthemoistureinthelattercasecomefrom?Isitevaporationofmoisture alone? Thisexplanationisobviouslyinsufficient.For,whydoesitnotrainforweeksonendin regionswherewaterisplentifulandthesunbeatsdownhotly,dryingupeverywet clothinafewminutesinaverydryair?Theremustbesomereasonforthis. Againwecanusewhatwehavelearnedabouttheexpansive,dispersiveforceinOR energy:wherethereismuchmoisturebutlittlerain,theatmosphericORenergyis strongandpowerful,asforinstanceintheMediterraneanregionsclosetotheever presentbillionsoftonsofwater.Thewatervaporiscontinuallybeingdispersed,the distributionismoreorlesseven,nomajorconcentrationsofORenergyandtherefore nocondensationofwatervaporcanoccur.Theexpansive,dissipatingfunctioninOR prevails. Inotherregions,suchasinmountainousterrain,wheretherearegreatdifferencesin theconcentrationofatmosphericORenergyduetodifferencesinhighandlow shadowyvalleysandwarmmountainslopes,thereismuchrainevenifthereislittle watertoevaporate.Theconcentrating,contractingforceinORprevailsandcreates differencesofpotentialintheatmosphericenergyandwatervapordistribution.

However,weshallfindlateronaspecificconditioninthedesertatmospherewhich promotesafastevaporationrateandrestrainsORconcentrations,thusenhancing clouddissipation. (4)TheRingaroundtheSun&Moonbefore"bad"Weather~ Often,beforetheonsetofbadweather,aringofvaryingdiameterappearsaroundthe moonandthesun.Farmersandpeoplelivinginthemountainspaygreatattentionto thesephenomena.Whatdoestheringmean? In(1)theORenvelopeoftheEarthislargelyexpanded.Theraysofsunormoonhit andpenetratetheORenvelopehigherupthanin2and3.In2and3theORenergy hascontracted,itouterlayersareclosertowardtheEarthsurface.Thediameterfthe ringnowdependsonlyonthedegreeofcontractionoftheORenvelope;thediameter iftheringisindirectrelationtothecontractionoftheORenvelope. StronglyconcentratedORenergytransmitstheexcitationwhichiscommonlycalled "light"inadifferentmannerthanthinnerORenergy.Theringwillconstitutealargeror

smallercircle,dependingonthestateofexpansionorcontractionoftheORenvelope; itisdelineatedbythedifferenceinthetransmissionoflightinthe"thinner"andinthe "thickerORenergylayer. TheatmosphericORenergycontractsbeforerain,attracting,condensing,and suspendingwatervaporintheatmosphere,comingdownlaterasrain.Themore concentratedtheORenergy,thebroaderisthe"thinner"outerregion,thelargeristhe ring,andviceversa.NoringdevelopswhentheORenergyenvelopeisevenly distributedintohighregionsoftheatmosphere. (5)ORexpansioninspring&contractioninautumn~ ThetotalexpansionandcontractionoftheatmosphericORenergyenvelopeincertain regionsisbestexpressedinthefunctionsofnaturewhichweobserveinspringand autumn.Mostofthephenomenaweencounteronourwanderingthroughthe countrysideduringthesetwoperiodsfallintoacomprehensivesettingofweseethem inthelightofacontractingandexpandingORenergyenvelopeoftheEarth.The triggerfortheexpansionorcontractionmayormaynotbetheraysofthesunasit risesorfallswiththeecliptic.Buttheconnectionbetweenweatherfunctionsandthe expansionandcontractionoftheORenvelopecannotbedoubted,forthefollowing reasons: Theincreasingcoldinautumnresultsfromalessactive,contractedORenergy envelope.Ontheotherhand,themountingheatistheresultofamoreactive, expandingORenergyenvelopeinspring.Gasesbehavejustthesamewaywith respectto"heat",i.e.,expanded,highlyactiveORenergy.Water,asweknow, immobilizescompletelywhenfreezingandevaporatesintohighlyactiveandmobile vaporabove100C. "Heat"isaccordinglyrelatedtoanexpansive,and"cold"toacontractiveORenergy. Tojudgefromthecoloroftheleaves,theappearanceofthetreesinspringandin autumn,andthefineshimmeringaroundthetreesinspring,thereisamoreactive, expandedORenergyinthetreesinspring,andlessinautumn.TheORenergy envelopedoesnotonlyengulfthesurfaceoftheglobe;itgoesrightthroughtheearth crustintothedepthaswellasintothehighestatmosphereandbeyond;thereit

mergeswiththecosmicORenergyflowwhichisbeyondthegravitationalfieldofthe planet. TheORenergycontractsandexpandsasatotalenergysystem.Asitdoesso,it enrichesorimpoverishestheworldofplantsandanimals(hibernation,lossofweight, etc.)whileitoscillatesandfunctionsthroughthelivingbeings. Inearlyspring,shortlybeforeitsfullonset,weseeadeepening,sometimesa reddeningcolorofthetrees,abrighteningofthegreeninevergreens,passingawayof thedullandsomewhatsorrowfulappearanceofthebranches,andanerection, expansionandanincreasingjuicinessineverything,includingmaninhisyouthand middleage. Itisthisstreamingofenergy,andnotmechanicalviscositywhichcausesthefluidto riseinplantsagainstgravity. Theincreasingstrengthoftheurgeformating,inmanandanimalalike,isobviously duetothesamerichflowofORenergythroughthelivingbeings.Thesaprisesricher andfasterthroughthefluidchannelsinthetreeswhichcanbeplainlyseeninthe greatermoistureoncuttingoffthebark.Yellowplusblueresultsingreen.Resinis yellow;itslowlychangesatthetipsofthebranchesintogreenwhilemixingwiththe blueoftheORenergyfromgroundandatmosphere.Theappearanceofthefirstleaf

budsinitselfisaclearcutexpressionoftheexpandingforceoftheORenergy;sois allgrowthoflivingmatter.ItisORenergypushingagainstrigidmembranousmatter whichiselasticenoughinyounglivingbeingstoyieldtotheexpansion:Extensive growth,greenintrees,buddingaretheresults.Thepowerofthisforcecaneasilybe observedinthesamemannerinwhichagrassbladeorflowerseedshootpushes throughheavypebblesintheirway. Inautumn,theoppositehappens.TheORenergyoftheplanetcontractsasawhole, backtowardthecoreoftheglobe,andthusisthinningoutalsointhelivingbeings. Accordingly,theleavesdryup,becomeyellowthroughlossofthebluefromthegreen, andfinallyloosetheirholdatthestem;throughlossofcohesiveenergytheyfalloff. The"juiciness"disappearsandasaddry,winteryappearancecomesabout.Thewater intheairdoesthesamething:itchangesintosnowwhichisdry,crystallizedwater vapor,containingORenergy(cf."Orene"). Chapter2 SpaceShips&DesertDevelopments

(1)DOR&Melanor~ Myaccountof"TheBlackeningRocks"(OEBV/1,2,1953)presentedthegrowing

worseoftheDORemergencyatOrgonon.DORclouds(OEBIV/4,1952)hadbegun topassoverandtohoveraboveOrgononduringthelastdaysofMarch,1952.The atmospherereactedinastrangemanner,withCPMincreasedfromanormal30to40 to300to800.Therecouldbelittledoubtthatcrucialdevelopmentswereinprogress. TheDORcloudshadappeared,forthesecondyear,aboutthetimeofthevernal equinox.Thisinitselfpointedtocosmicevents.Forthreeyears,1951to1953,the growingworseofDORrepeateditself.ThecoincidenceofasevereDORreactionin theatmospherewiththevernalequinoxdeservesspecialattentioninthecoming years.ThereactionsusedtobecomemildersometimeduringOctober,afterthe autumnalequinox. Inspring1952,thesituationatOrgononbecamebadindeed,tothepointofcomplete collapseoftheactivitiesandlivingconditions.Itwillbenecessarytosurvey,ina differentcontext,theemotionalandphysicalreactionsoftheworkersatOrgonon duringthiscollapse. TheObservatorywasevacuatedinApril1952.Itdidnotreturntoanyorderlyactivity beforeNovember195,whenwesucceededinremovingfromtheatmospheresomeof theblackmatter,calledMelanor(M?),whichhadsettledandcontinuedtosettleupon everything,rockwalls,apparatus,skinsurfacesdoingallkindsofdamage. Iwouldliketoaskthereadertobepatientwiththefollowingenumerationoffunctional processeswhichemergedonebyonefromtheDORemergencyatOrgonon.The functionswerethese: (1)StudiesdevotedtoMelanoractivitybothintheinanimateandthelivingrealm, regardingtheirconnectionswithatmosphericfunctions. (2)Strenuouseffortstocopewiththeemergencycausedbytheatmospheric conditions.Gravedistresswasabundanteverywhere,notonlyatOrgonon.Wehad identicalreportsfromNewYork,Philadelphia,theWestCoast,andin1953evenfrom TelAviv.DRseemedtohavespreadnearlyoverhalftheglobe.Theeffortsto eliminatetheemergencyresultedinonelineofdevelopmentsintheinventionofa machine,latertermedthe"Cloudbuster",meaning:"busting"uptheatmosphericDOR clouds,thesourceofthedistresstolivingbeings(See"DOPRRemoval&Cloud busting",OEBIV/4,1952,reprintedhere;seeChapter10).

(3)Attemptstoovercomewhatcametobecalled"DORSickness".Thissickness whichischaracterizedbyawellcircumscribedgroupofsymptoms,hadalreadybeen studiedduring1951inthecourseofthefirstrunoftheOranurExperiment.Manynew featuresoftheDORsicknesswerefoundduringtheperiodcoveredbythisaccount. (4)AllfunctionswhichconstitutedtheDORemergencyhadclearcutrelationstothe DORclouds;andthese,inturn,slowlyrevealedfeatureswhichpointedtowardthe originofdrought,anddrought,inturn,involveddevelopmentofdeserts.Bywayofa particularhookup,thecloudbusterwhichwasoriginallydesignedtoremoveevilDOR clouds,ledtotechniquesinhandlingtheatmosphericORenergyinsuchamanner that (5)Raincouldbeproducedorstoppedatwillduring1952.Inthecourseofthewinter monthsof1952/1953,alsofogcouldbeliftedandsunshinecouldbebroughtaboutat will.Therewereseveralunequivocalsuccesses: (a)ThebreakingofthedroughtinNewEnglandonAugust1and2,1952atOrgonon; (b)ThebreakingofthedroughtatEllsworth,MEonJuly6,1953,andthrough cloudbusteroperations(OROP)bothatOrgononandHancock,MaineonOctober23, 1953. ItwasalsopossibletokeeppredictedrainawayforRangeleyon"Children'sParade" day,August9,1953foronewholedaywhileitwasrainingallaroundRangeley. TheresultinallthesecaseswasclearlyattributabletoORoperations(OROP);they contradictedoftenthecorrespondingofficialweatherpredictions.Theseoperations weresubsumedunderonesingleaspect"OROPDesert".Theirimportancefora possiblefructificationofdesertlandwasobviousfromthebeginningin1952.Mypan tostartOROPDesertwascommunicatedtotheUSGovernmentandtheGovernorof theStateofMaineduringthesummerof1952.Theseveredroughtwhichharassed theUSAin1953waspredictedinalettertoresponsibleorganizationsoftheStateof Maineinthespring1953.Atpresent,wearepreparingforafarmoreseveredrought whichistobeexpectedtohittheworldagainduring1954.Altogethereight experimentalcloudbusterswillbeavailableforOROPDesertin1954,witheachunit capableofcoveringanareaofabout150to250miles.Oneoperatorwassentto

Therefore,inJuly1953,anewbranchofchemistrywasinauguratedatOrgonon.Its objectivewastoclearupthepreatomicchemistryandbiochemistryinvolvedin Oranur.Theresultofthisworkwasthediscoveryofawhite,substancelike,butpre chemicalmatterwhichwastermed"Orene"(O?).Itcontainednolessthanthe principleofgrowthperseintheformofawhite(yellowinacid)powderysubstance. First,letusproceedwithpoints(1)and(3),Melanor(M?)andtheDORsickness. ThereaderofOranurmayrememberthatM?hadstruckforthefirsttimeforcefullyat theendofMarch1952,whennoOranurexperimentationwasgoingonatOrgonon. ButalreadyinJanuary1951,attheverystartofOranur,amajorproblemwasthe fallingillofmostworkersatOrgonon.Asthemonthsandyearspassedby,many millionsofpeopleallthroughtheUSAandtheworldfellillfromDORsickness.The basicandtypicalsymptomsofDORsickness,commonlyreferredtoas"VirusX"or "IntestinalFlu",willbeenumeratedlater.DORsicknesshasnothingtodowithany virus.Itisaclearcut,wellcircumscribeddiseaseduetopreatomic"DORclouds". Theseblackcloudswerepassingatirregularintervalsovervariouspartsoftheworld, forvariouslengthsoftime,fromafewminutestoseveraldays.Whatisbeingcalled "smog"overbigcitiesisamixtureoffog,soot,etc.Thisfogbecomesstagnantand doesnotdissolvewhenDORcloudsarepresentintheatmosphere.Itappearsnot onlyoverbigcities,butalsointheopencountrysidewhichisfreeofanyindustrial smoke.Socalled"smog"has,therefore,littletodowithsmoke;however,industrial regionsfullofsootmaywellenhancethehoveringofODRcloudsoverbigcities.This makesthesituationworsethanitwouldbewithoutthepresenceofsmokeparticlesin

theair.TheOrgoneInstituteorganizedandreceivedreportsfrommanypartsofthe USAaboutDORsickness,thebulkofthereportscomingfromNewYork. TypicalsymptomsofDORsicknessare: Generalfatigueandemotionaldistress;insomecasesthefatigueisinterruptedor evenreplacedbyemotionaloutburstsofhatred.Nauseafrequentlyfollowsinthewake ofprolongedfatigue.Pressureinhead,chest,armsandlegsarecommon.Respiration isdifficult,andsensationsoflackofoxygenfrequentlyaccompanythedistress.Thirst, hungerformuchwater,isgraveunderconditionswhichpromoteaDORatmosphere, suchaspresenceoffluorescentlights,neonsignsinarestaurant,clocksandwatches withluminousdials,xraymachinesinahospitalfilledwithfilingcabinetswhichactas accumulatorsofatmosphericenergy. Hotflashesalternatewithablacknessofappearance.Facesappearbluishtopurple. Peopleseemtobechoking,asitwere.Theycomplainabout"somethingwrongnthe air",or"somethingqueergoingon". Heartfailureswithsubsequentdeatharefrequent,especiallywhenprolongedfogor drizzlingrainwithlowlyingcloudspreventthesupplyoffreshoxygenandORenergy fromtheatmosphere. DiarrheaisoneofthemostdistressingsymptomsinprolongedDORemergency.The stoolsbecomeblack,duetoMelanorwhichisbeingeliminatedthroughtheintestinal tract.Theyalsobecome.Inadvancedcases,softtowateryandcontainmuchmucus. Symptomsofdysenterymaydevelopfurther,uptoamoebaeinthestools.Thishas nothingwhatevertodowith"infection".Theprotozoadevelopfromlowcharged epithelia(seetheCancerBiopathy,1948). Whentheatmosphereclearsagain,eitherspontaneouslyorbymeansofDOR removal,thesymptomslikewiseabate,buttheyneverfullydisappearaslongasthere areODRcloudspassingovertheregionor,asinbigcities,arehoveringoverbuildings forweeksonend.Thediscolorationoftheatmospheremaygoasfarasadirtybrown inthesmogorfog. ThestoolsofDORsickpeoplemayattimesbecomewhiteorgrayfromlackofbile. Buttheblackishsoftandwaterystoolisthemoretypicalsymptom.

Nauseamaydevelopintofrequentvomiting. Tachycardiaisnotaninfrequentsymptominsomecases. Typicalisalsoashiveringorfibrillarquiveringofmusclegroupsinvariouspartsofthe body.Suchfibrillationsmayharasstheheart. TypicalofDORsicknessisanemotionaldullness,aletdowninstaminawhichattimes takestheformofstuporinsomecases.Itgoeshandinhandwithadullgazeinthe eyes,withanexpressionofdespairoftheface,notnecessarilyknowntothevictimof thedisease.Attimes,ametalceilinginaroomfullofpeoplemayinduceacomplete standstillofemotionalfunctioning. During1952and1953,thereweremoreprisonriotsintheUSAthaneverbeforeina similarstretchoftime.Thisisnowunderstandableasarevoltoforganismsagainstthe tortureoflivinginmetalcageswithDORcloudspresent. Inadditiontothesetypicalsymptoms,personsmaydevelopvariousatypical symptomsfromtheirindividualconstitutioninresponsetoDOR.Thosesufferingfrom aslightliverdisturbancemaydevelopseverehepaticsyndromes. Lossofbodyheatdowntoatemperatureof96?Forlesshasbeenobservedin severalcases. Swellingofglands(parotis,submaxillaris),edemaoftongue,uvula,glottis,were frequentoccurrences. Totalflacidparalysisoflegswasseenseveraltimesinonecase. Severthirst,duetodehydrationofbloodandtissues,andoxygenhunger,dueto reductionofoxygenintheairthroughDOR,arethemostdistressingsyndromes. Itwasfoundthatthefollowingremediesatleastalleviatethedistress. Frequentwarm,soakingbathseliminateMelanorfromtheskin. Continuousventilationoflivingandsleepingquarters.

Drinkingwaterorteainabundance. Orgasticdischargeofbioenergyisessential. DORremovalovertheeffectedregionwiththecloudbusteratirregularintervals, accordingtotheDORsituation,helpstokeepDORcloudsmovingon,andreducesat leastthedistressotherwisecausedbyaccumulatedandstagnantstalenessofthe atmosphere. (11)WhatwasthefunctionalmeaningoressenceofacosmicMelanorwhich obviouslywasattractedbytheearthly,concentratedORenergyattheObservatory? Countlessquestionsariseanewaswesurveytheterritoryoftheseevents.Weare preparedtomeetmanymorequestionsofatrulycosmicnature.Manyaformerly doubtfulreaderoforgonoticliteraturewillnowappreciateourterm"Cosmic Engineering",orinbrief"CORE",operationsinmyattemptstocopewiththeDOR emergency.HewillalsobetterunderstandnowwhyIputsomuchemphasisinthe beginningonthebasicnewnessandvastnessoftheseevents.Wehavedefinitely, duetotheseevents,lefttherealmofwellknownfacts,theories,techniques,methods ofthinking,etc.;andhowitcameaboutthatI,personally,andlatersuccessively workerafterworkeratOrgonon,citizenaftercitizeninRangeley,thenpeopleinNew YorkandontheWestCoastfeltmoreandmorepenetratinglythat,astheyusually expressedthemselves,"somethinghadgonewrongwiththeairandtheweather".We have,quiteunawares,beenrippedfromourpastaccustomedlivesandwere transposedintovastreachesoftheuniverse,asitwere. Inthefaceofsuchevents,neverbeforeexperiencedinsuchconcentrationovera

shortperiodoftime,manyformerlyimportantmattersbeganevermoretoappear nonsensical,ifnotridiculous.Toexplainsuchphenomenaawayas"reflection"oflight onwindshields,istheheightofevasiveness. (3)ClarificationontheSourceofMelanor~ Whatistofollownow,willshockthereader;itsrealizationhasshockedtheworkersat Orgonon.Notonlydidwefindourselvesquitesuddenlyflyingincosmicspaces,asit were;werealizedhowrestrictedscientificthinking,withafewrareexceptions,had beenallthroughthetimespast.Afewofourworkersbehavedasiftheyhaddreamed alltheirlivesofflyingthroughspaceinjetplanes;theyfoundthemselvesoneday awakeandreallyflyinginspaceatanincrediblespeed.Thereupon,someofthese dreamers,realizingthattogetoutofthejetplanelikeshakingoffthedreamwouldnot bepossible,beganthreateningthepilottolandimmediatelyorelseSomeofthe bestonessimplyranaway,inonecaseasfarawayasHawaii.Severeemotional reactions,tobediscussedlater,plainhatredtowardtheresearchwork,andphysical diseaseharassedourcommunity.Theemergency,inautumn1953alreadytwoyears old,founditstheoreticalandtoagreatextentalsoitspracticalsolutionduringthe monthofNovember1953,inthefollowingmanner: Twobooks,bothaboutsocalledFlyingSaucers,reachedOrgononinNovember1953. Thefirst,"FlyingSaucersHaveLanded"byLeslieandAdamski;theother,"Flying SaucersFromOuterSpace"byMajorKeyhoe.Thefirstdifferedgreatlyfromthe secondreportinstyleandapproach,butthefactualobservationsweretoagreat extentthesame.Tometheybroughtsurpriseonlyastothegreatnumberofsaucer sightings,andastotheevasivemannerinwhichthistremendoussubjecthadbeen handledbysomemechanisticscientists. Iwasnotsurprisedattherealityofvisitorsfromouterspace,sinceIhavenever believedinthetheorieswhichfornofactualorlogicalreasonsattemptedtorestrictLife tothetiny,insignificantplanetcalledEarth.Ihadtakenthemanyrumorsaboutflying saucersasamatteroffact. Oneday,atnoon,inAugust1952,ontheterraceofmyhome,Ihadheard,butnot seen,anobjectcrossingtheskyfromhorizontohorizoninafewsecondswithaspeed unknownonearth.Iknewitwasaspaceship.Therewasnounduesurprise

connectedwiththisobservation;itwasnotevenwrittendownintheLogbook.Several peoplehadreportedseeing"flyingsaucers"nearOrgononduring1952.However,the factofvisitorsfromouterspacedidnotconnectyetwiththeDORemergencyat Orgonon;notuntilthetwobooksmentionedaboverevealeddetailedinformationwhich filledmanygapsinourunderstandingofthehappeningsatOrgononduringthesevere emergency.Thesereports,quiteunknowingly,leftlittledoubtastothetypeofenergy usedinthesespaceships.Allfunctionsmentionedsofarpointedtowellknown functionsofthecosmic,primordialenergy. Letusnow,forourownuse,changetheaccidentalname"FlyingSaucers"intothe moreappropriateone"SpaceShips"ofCOREmen."CORE"hereistoindicatethe factthatthesebeingsfromouterspacewereusingthetechniquesofCosmic Engineering(CORE).Weshallnowproceedtoenumeratethereasonswhyitseems certainthattheCOREmenoperatewithCosmicEnergy. (1)CosmicEnergyisobjectively(oncoloredfilm)andsubjectivelyBlue.Thereports onthespaceshipswereunanimousinreportingthatthemachinesoftheCOREmen showedbluishlightsshiningthroughtheopenings,andalsothatthefieldaroundthe machines,toughattimeschangingcolorwiththespeed,wasbluishgreenish.The reportedchangesofcolortowhiteandredbelongs,too,intotherealmoforgonotic phenomena;however,thisfactcannotbediscussedatthispointintelligentlywithout elaborationofmanynew,asyetunpublishedfactsaboutlightinrelationtoORenergy functionsofstrongconcentration,andthatthewhiteofsunanddaylight,too, correspondstocertainhighenergystatesofORenergy. (2)ThecomparativelysilentmovementsoftheCOREmachines:Unlesstransmitted byortransformedintocertainmechanicalorelectricalfunctions,ORfunctionsusually operatesilently,suchasinthelivingorganismwheretremendousenergiesareatwork witheachmovement,andyetnonoisewhateverisbeingheard.Bywayofcertain arrangements,however,itispossibletoobtainsoundfromthesesilentmovements, suchasputtingthemembraneofastethoscopeupontheeyeballwithclosedeyelid,or touchingthegridwireofaGeigercounter,highvoltageoff,withthefinger. (3)TheCOREmenoperatetheirmachineswiththehelpoforgonoticfieldeffectsof theORenergyinspaceandintheenvelopeofourplanet.SincetheORenergyfield oftheORenvelopeoftheearth'sglobealsogovernsthefunctionsofitsgravitation,it

isnowonderthattheCOREmenareabletomaneuvertheirspaceshipsinthe mannerdescribedinthetwoabovementionedreports.DuringtheOranurExperiment, observationshavebeensecuredatOrgononwhichmakeitcertainthatOranur changesgravitationalfieldfunctionsindirectionandintensity.Nomorecanbesaid aboutthispointofCosmicengineering. (4)ThesevereDOReffectsbeganatOrgononduringthevernalequinoxforthree years.Lesliestartshisreportwiththe30thofMarch1952;myownreportonthe "BlackeningRocks"(OEBV/1,2,1952).Thisisnomerecoincidence.Themonthof April1952wasreportedintheOranurreportjustmentionedastheperiodwhenthe nauseatingDORcloudswereobservedforthefirsttimeintheRangeleyregion.April 1952is,accordingtoLeslie'sreport,alsothemonthwiththemostfrequentsightingsof COREspaceships.ThenauseatingDORcloudsmusthavesomeconnectionwiththe spaceships. (b)Thespaceshipsmostlikelyusethesocalled"GalacticOREnergyStream"; accordingtotheoreticaldeductions(seeCosmicSuperimposition,1951)itrunsatan angleof62degreesnorthoftheequatorialplane.Itcannotbeamerecoincidencethat mostsightingspointtoaSWtoNEdirectionofthemovementoftheships,although manyotherdirectionsoccurtoo.Thisassumptionappearedimportantenoughtobe mentioned.ItissupportedbythefrequencyoftornadoesthatdevelopedinTexasnear theMexicanGulf,anditscoincidencewithnearlyexactly62degreesnorthnortheast movementofhurricanesandtornadoesinNorthAmerica(SeeFigure3b;alsodiagram page32in"theBlackeningRocks",OEBV/1,2,1953).InFebruaryMarch1954,this regionwasharassedbyclimaticcatastrophessuchassandstorms,dustbowl development,etc. (6)Thequestionnecessarilyimposeditselfuponaheapofotherproblemsalreadyat handatOrgonon,whatmayhaveinducedtheCOREmentoinspectsofrequentlythe earthglobeduringthelasttwoorthreeyears(Anyattempttoanswerthisquestion thoroughlywouldnecessarilyhavetotakeintoaccountall"sightings"recordedinas yetundisclosedfiledoftheUSGovernment).Oranurseemedtoprovidethemost satisfyinganswertothisquestionwhich,ofcourse,requiresstillmuchelaboration: TheCosmicOREnergyfillstheuniverse.Tojudgefromwhatwealreadyknowabout itscharacteristics,itbecomesirritatedandrunsamokifexcitedbynuclearenergy action.ThishadbeendisclosedbytheOranurExperimentin1951beyondanydoubt whatsoever.FromthisfactfollowsthelogicalconclusionthatthehighlysensitiveOR energyoceanintheuniversehadbeengreatlyirritatedbytheatomicenergy explosionswhichtookplaceatanacceleratedrateduringthepast3to4years.Since theCOREpeopleapparentlyuseCosmicEnergyinpropellingtheirspaceships,they mayhavedecidedtoinvestigatethesourceandthenatureofthisnewmenacetotheir existence.Theunmistakableblackeningoftherocksonthemoonindicatedtheextent ofthisirritation,evenifonlyinanutshell,asitwere. Fromthiscausewouldderiveananswertoourquestionaboutthefrequentvisitsby livingbeingsfromouterspace.Thefactthattheirspaceshipsweresightedforthe mostpart(thoughnotexclusively)overornearatomicenergyplants,seemstofitwell withthisassumption.Toknow,really,wewouldhavetomeetthemandaskthempoint blank.

Thus,theOranureffectsoftheatomicenergyblasts,reachingfaroutintocosmic space,havebroughtdowntheCOREmen,whoareinfullpossessionoftheuseof CosmicOREnergy.Sofar,tojudgefromtheavailablereports,theseCOREmen camepeacefully,investigatingonly.Letushopethatwecanmeettheirpeacefulness withpeacefulnessofourown. (7)Therecannolongerbeanydoubtastothesourceofthesubstancecalled Melanor.Itdisclosedheretoforeentirelyunknowncharacteristics.Melanorstemsfrom theCOREmenandtheirspaceships.However,thereareseveralquestionswhich mustbeansweredinduetimeifthemenacewhichtheDORcloudsaswellasMelanor presentforthehumanrace,istobemet.Anydefinitequestionsthemselvesshouldbe formulatednow.Theymaydirectustowardthetrue,validanswerinduetime. Thesequestionsare: (A)AretheDORcloudswhichsotypicallycomeinfromthewestandsouthwest,in otherwords,onthemaingalactic"highways"exhaustfumesorsimilaroffalofcosmic ORenergyusedbytheCOREmenintheirtravelsthroughspace? (B)AretheDORcloudsonlythecarriersofMelanorwhichthesecoremenmay deliberatelypourintoouratmosphere? (C)IftheDORcloudsareresultsofdeliberateactiononthepartofthepeoplefrom space: (a)Aretheseintentionsbenign?Dotheywanttohelpus?Thispossibilitycannotbe andshouldnotbeexcluded,sinceOranurandDORhavedisclosedmostfantastic curativequalities,inspiteoftheDORsickness,ormaybejustbecauseoftheDOR sickness;itrepresentsakindofimmunizationwhichthepeopleonEarthareboundto gothrough. (b)Or,aretheseDORcloudsdesignedtochangeourgreenplanetintoawastelandof desertsimilartothemoon'ssurface?Theseveredroughtsoflatewhichcoincidewith theDORaswellasCOREmenproblem,maywellberesultsofsuchdeliberateaction. Inthiscase,letusnotfoolourselves:thewarbetweenEarthandaninvadingenemy fromspace,usingweaponsstrangetous,isalreadyonandmustbemetrightaway.

Itisnotrationaltoassumethatwarsarealwaysfoughtonlythewayweknowthem withtheirprecedingdiplomaticquibbling,followedbywarwithorwithoutdeclarationof warwithnoisynagbangofallkindsofshootingmachineryresultingincrumbling buildingsandsuddendestructionofallcitiesonearthasvisualizedintheinstructive USfilmonFlyingSaucers(1953). Wemustpermitourselvestothinkofwarasasilent,unnoticed,slowworkingbut deliberatedestructionoflifeonaplanet,asatellite,orevenastar.Wemustbeready tochangeeverysingleviewoflifewehaveheldsacredifitcontradictsnewfactsand newexperiences. Warmaybegoingonrightnowwithnoonebeingawareofit,withmendying,with treesbendinglikerubberhoses,greenpasturesturningintodustbowls,andwith academicandcivilinstitutionsexplainingitallawayaswith"justthis"or"justthat".In short,itmayturnoutcorrectwhatonewouldotherwisefeelinclinedtoascribetoa schizophrenicmindnamely,thatinsteadofshootingatthevictimsofwarwith bullets,onecouldverywellsaplifeenergyoutofthewarvictimswithmachineswhich operateaccordingtotheorgonoticpotentialoftheCosmicEnergy. (8)TheCOREmendoubtlesslyknownotonlythephysicalpropertiesoftheCosmic PrimordialEnergy.TheyalsoknowwhathasbeenassumedinOrgonomyformore thantwodecadesasthequalityofLifecontainedinthisenergy.Thisconnectionhas beenfullyrevealed,andisalreadybeingworkedoutinthislaboratoryaswhatcameto becalled"Orene".Thisisasubstancewhich,assaidbefore,stemsfromMelanorand isLifeEnergyinmatterlikeform. Conclusionsderivingfromsuchvastlydifferentrealmsasatmosphere,cosmicDOR clouds,spaceships,etc.,begintofallintoplaceandtomakesense.Knowingthe qualitiesoftheCosmicLifeEnergy,usingthisenergyforphysicalpropulsionand havingdevelopedverygreatskillinitsuse,pointtothepossibilitythattheseliving beingsarenotarmored.Thisisnotonlysupportedbydirectevidence,butalsobyits counterpoint,asitwere,namelythefactthatarmoredManonEarthhas,sofar,done everythinginhispowerandhasevenusedhisknowledgetotalkaway,think away,killaway,legislateawayallpotentialitiesofgettingatthisverysamecosmic force,foronesinglereasononly:nottobeperturbedinhisaffairsconductedaccording tothearmor.

Wearefacinganemergency,facingitnotonlyasthespeciesmankind;theprincipleof LifeItselfonearthischallenged.Wecannolongerpermitourselvestobeaspettyas tocontinueourLittleMen'squibblingovernothing,asifnothingatallhashappened. Weareinaprocessofdeepandcrucialchangeofourtotalexistence,biological, physical,emotionalandcosmic.Letus,therefore,startbehavinginaccordancewith thesefacts. Thegistoftheperilisthis: Ifwe,hereonEarth,areundergoingathreattoourexistencebywayofDesert Development,itisimperativetoconcentrateonthemeasurestobetaken,ifanyare available,tomeetthemenaceintelligently.

Chapter3 DORRemoval,CloudBusting,&FogLifting

(I)The"DORClouds"~ Ithasbecomepossibletoapplytheprincipleoftheorgonoticpotentialtothe dissolutionandformationofclouds.Thistechnicalapplicationoftheorgonoticpotential wasforceduponthisinstitutionduringtheemergencywhichshookOrgononfrom aboutMarch21,1952tillthepresentdate,May1954.Itwasamatterofsurvivalinthis regiontofindawaytoremovethe"DORclouds"aswecametocallthenauseating concentrationsofDORoverOrgonon. LetmefirstexplainwhattheseDORcloudsare,howtheylook,whattheydo,and whatcanbedoneaboutthem.DORcloudswereobservedandcomprehendedforthe firsttimeduringtheearlydaysofMay1952.ThemaincharacteristicsoftheseDOR clouds,astheyappearatvariousintervalsoverOrgonon,cominginmostlyfromthe west,arethefollowing: (1)"Stillness&"Bleakness"~

A"stillness"and"bleakness"spreadoverthelandscape,ratherwelldelineatedagainst unaffectedsurroundingregions.Thestillnessisexpressedinarealcessationoflife expressionsintheatmosphere.Thebirdsstopsinging:thefrogsstopcroaking.There snosoundoflifeanywhere.Thebirdsflyloworhideinthetrees.Animalscrawlover thegroundwithgreatlyreducedmotility.Theleavesofthetreesandtheneedlesofthe evergreenslookvery"sad";theydroop,loseturgoranderectility.Everybitofsparkle orlusterdisappearsfromthelakesandtheair.Thetreeslookblack,asthoughdying. Theimpressionisactuallythatofblackness,orbetter,bleakness.Itisnotsomething that"cameintothelandscape".Itis,rather,thesparkleofLifethatwentoutofthe landscape. (2)VanishingofLuster&Sparkle~ Thevanishingoflusterandsparklefromthesunnylandscapehadbeenindependently confirmedbyseveralobserverswhohavegrownupinfarms.Trees,rocks,telegraph poles,mountainsides,andhousesappear"black"althoughitisnotreallyblackness.It is,rather,liketheabsenceoflight.Totheorgonoticobserver,itappearstobethe resultofthinningorafailingoftheORenergysubstratumthatusuallyluminatesinto brilliantdaylight,withsparkleandluster.TheabsenceofORluminationwasshownon colorfilmin1953.ItshouldbecarefullynoticedthatDORcloudsappearwhilethesun keepsonshining.Thegreencoloroftreesandmeadowsdisappearsfromthe mountainranges.Everythingseemstogoblackor'dull".Onecannothelpbutfeelthis tobeDeath,"BlackDeath",assomecallit.Thisbleakblacknesshoversespecially overlandscapeswithoutanyvegetation,andoverswampyregions.Swampshavea peculiarbearingonDOReffects.Swampsarebasicallyaccumulationsofstagnant waterwhichenhancedecayprocessandaretheoppositeoffreshrunningbrookor riverwaterwhichcounteractsdecay.Theyaredistinguishedbytheabsenceor presence,respectively,oforgonoticmetabolism.Everythingstillremainstobe carefullyinvestigatedinthisrealm.Weareonlybreakingtrailforafirstoverall orientation. Thelackoflustercanbeunderstoodintermsofsomereductionoforgonoticpulsation andmetabolisminplantsandanimals.Thisseemstobeconfirmedbythefactthatat thelakesurfacesorgonoticpulsationalsoceases;thewaterbecomescalmand motionless.

ADORcloudisusuallysurroundedbynormalatmosphericORactivity,suchas bluenessofthemountainranges,sparklingofthesunnyatmosphere,greennessofthe trees.OnecannothelpbutfeelthatnaturalcosmicORenergyretractsfromthe"evil", "bleak","black","lifeless"DORcloudandletsitpass.Observationsmadeatnight showluminousORsurroundingandfightingthelusterlessDORclouds.Indaytimethe mountainsappearblackwhilelosingthenormalbluegrayorgoneenergycolor.The emotionalimpressionhereagainis"sadness".Thecolorofthemountainrangess somehow"dirty"orblackishwithapurpletint.AfterthepassingoftheDORcloud,the intensebluegray"haze"returns.WelearnedtorealizeexactlywhennormalOR activityreplacedagainthenauseatingDORblackness. (3)BioenergeticDistressinHumanBeings~ PeoplereacttotheDORcloudswithrathergravedistress.Manydonotknowor cannotexplainwhathappenstothem.Theycallit"heat"or"someatomdust"orjust "badair".Somearebiologicallyinsensitivetoadegreewhichpuzzlestoorgonomist. Thereareotherswhoknowthedeadlyqualityoftheseclouds,notintellectually,but ratherwiththeirFirst,OrgonoticSense."Thereissomethingwrongwiththeair",one hearsthemsay,or"Somethingisgoingonsomewhere",astatementexpressing awarenesstogetherwithsuspicion."Icannotgetanyair",or"Ithitsmelikeabrick whenIentermyshopinthemorning",etc.Insomecasesonemustpersistinasking thesamequestionoverandoveruntiltheanswercreepstothesurfacefroma frightenedorbewilderedmind:"Yes,ifyouwanttoknow,Ifeelitsometimeslike somethingclosinginonmyface,likeawall,butIcannotreallyfeelit,youknow;and thenIgetthatbadheadacheofmine",or,"Mysinusesaregoingbad",etc. Iftheyarenotcompletelydeademotionally,i.e.,farbelowthenormalbioenergetic leveloffunctioning,peopleareusuallyawareofthe"changesintheweather",too;in vegetationandinthe"generalfeel"ofthings.Intheearlyspring,alreadyinthemiddle ofApril,1952,thebudsarecomingoutintheRangeleyregion.Peopledidnotquite daretoadmitsuchanastonishingfact,sincebudsarenotexpectedtherebeforethe endofMay.RemarksinthebeginningofJuneaboutthepeculiar"black"cloudsthat werecomingfromthewestandforsomepeculiarreasonremained"stuck",asitwere, overOrgonon,werefrequent.Also,thelushnessofthevegetationwasduly acknowledgedandgenerallyappreciated.

(4)GeigerCounterReactions~ ThereactionsoftheGeigercountertotheDORcloudsdeservesspecialattention.At thispoint,onlyafewbasicphenomenashouldbementioned: DuringthepassageofDORcloudsoveracertainrange,theGMcounterwillactin peculiar,extraordinaryways.Whenthesereactionswereseenforthefirsttimeduring theearlyspringof1951,theyweredismissedas"only"or"nothingbut"failureofthe batteries.Sincethen,welearnedtorespectthese"failures"andtoreadtheirmeaning toasufficientdegreetoformreliableopinionsabouttheatmosphericORconditions before,duringandafterthepassageofDORclouds.Itisadvisabletodistinguishthe "disorders"oftheGMcounterasfollows: (a)"Jamming":theportableGMcounter(SU5,Tracerlab)will"race"tothelimitof 100,000cpmor20mr/hr. (b)"Failing"or"Fading":Thecountswilldropagainrapidlyuntiltheywillsinkbeneath thenormalbackgroundcountof3040cpm.Theneedlewillremainat5or10cpmorit willpointtozerowiththerange100cpmturnedon.Thiswillhappeninanextremely highlychargedatmosphere. (c)"Jamming"aswellas"Fading"mayoccureachbyitselfinaveryhighOR atmosphere.Sometimesthefadingisprecededbyjamming.Onealsoseesrather frequentlytheGMsetinwiththenormalbackgroundreactionof30to50cpm,and then,afteraminuteortwo,startracingtowardthehigheroreventhehighestpossible counts,whichwouldcausealarminanyatomicplant.Thedetailsofthesefunctions areasyetunknown.ButitwouldappearreasonabletoassumethatFading,Jamming andRacingareallvariantsofoneandthesamebasicdisorder:OverchargeoftheGM countertube.Torepeat:Thepointerwillnotmoveatall:Failing;oritmayfailafteran initialnormalcount:Fading.Itmayrushtoabnormallyhighvalues:Racing,instantlyor afterabriefperiodofnormalreaction.Itmayracetothehighestpossiblecountand beyondandthengetstucktherewithorwithoutsubsequentfading,i.e.,Jamming. Thesedistinctionsarenaturallysubjecttocorrectionsandtofurtherdetailed descriptions. (d)The"Erratic"GMCounter:DuringthepassageofDORclouds,onecan,

furthermore,observeatypeofbehaviorontheportableGMasif,psychologically speaking,theGMcounterhadbecome"nervous"andcouldnotmakeupitsmind,asit were,whethertorace,tofade,ortojam.Insuchcases,oneseestheneedlestartin withthenormal30to40cpm;thenitraces,sayto500cpm,dropsthereafterslowly,in thefadingmanner,to100andfurtherto70,onlytostartracingagainto10,000or even30,000cpm;eventuallythisisfollowedbystillhigher"erratic"oscillationsback andforthbetween10,000and100,000;itmayendinjammingorcompletefading. ThesefewdistinctionsinthedisorderlybehavioroftheGMportablecountermay suffice.Itshouldbenoticed,however,thatGMcounterswhichareenclosedinplastic materialswillmostlikelyonlyfadeorfail;thisisso,tojudgefromonlyonesingle observationwithanewplasticcoveredGMcounter,becauseplasticmaterialabsorbs ORavidlywithoutreflectingtheORenergy.Thisobservationrequiresfurther elaborationandconfirmation. Inthebeginning,duringMarchandApril,1952,wewereundertheimpressionthatthe DORcloudscominginfromthewest,originatedfromatomicblastsinthewestern UnitedStates.However,itwaslaterascertainedthattherewerenoatomicdetonations inMarch1952.Thus,theoriginoftheDORcloudsremainsamysterytothisdate.The onsetofthedisasteratOrgononsoonafterthetornadostruckintheWest,March21, 1952,centeredourattentiononthepossibilitythatweweredealingwithsomevery obscurecosmicevents. TheDORemergencyatOrgononworsenedquicklyduringApril.Emotionaland physicaldistressbecameunbearable,anditwasnowamatterofsurvivaltoremove theblackDORaccumulationsthathoveredevermorefrequentlyoverOrgonon.An inconspicuous,longneglectedobservationcametotherescue: Farbackin1940,whentheatmosphericORenergyhadbeenseenforthefirsttimeat MooslookmegunticLakeintheRangeleyregionthroughlongmetalpipes,casual pointingofthepipesatthesurfaceofthelakeseemedtoaffectthemovementofthe waves.ThisappearedquiteincredibleatthatearlyperiodofORresearch;thematter wasabandonedandsoonforgotten.However,theincredibleeffectofmetalpipes uponenergymotionsuchaswaves,seemedtohavelingeredoninmymindeverall thesedozenyears.WhenthesufferingfromDORbecameunbearableatOrgononlate inApril,afewmetalpipes,9to12feetlongand11/2inchindiameter,weredirected

atablackDORconcentrationoverhead,andconnectedthroughBXcablestoadeep well. Theeffectwasinstantaneous:TheblackDORcloudsbegantoshrink.Andwhenthe pipeswerepointedagainsttheORenergyflow,i.e.,towardthewest,abreezewestto eastwouldsetinafterafewminutes"Draw",aswecametocallthisoperation;fresh, bluegrayORenergymovedinwherethenauseatingDORcloudshadbeensshort whilebefore.Soonwelearnedthatrainclouds,too,couldbeinfluenced,increased anddiminishesaswellasmoved,byoperatingthesepipesincertainwelldefined ways. FromthefirsthesitatingattemptstoendtheemergencyatOrgonon,moresystematic experimentsinthecreationanddestructionofclouds,aswellasrainmakingand stoppingofrainbegantodevelopsuccessfullyoverseveralmonths,tillthefirsttwo CORE"Cloudbuster"unitswerefinallyconstructedatPortland,MaineinSeptember October1952formorecompleteCOREoperations. Inthefollowingpagesonlythebasicprinciplesof"Cloudbusting"willbepresented.A detailedpresentationofthetechnicalaspectswillfollowinthebroadercontextof CosmicOrgoneEngineering(CORE). (II)ThePrinciplesof"CloudBusting"~ (1)"Cloudbusting"~ Theterm"Cloudbusting"asusedinthispaper,shalldenoteallengineeringtechniques whichdealwiththedestructionaswellastheformationofcloudsofwatervaporinthe atmosphereandoforgoneenergyaccumulationsofallkindsincludinggravity;briefly, withallphenomenawhicharerelatedtoorderivefromatmosphericchangesof climateincludingweather,humidity,amountofrainfallperunitoftime,storms, hurricanes,DORclouds,Oranurfunctionsintheatmosphere,atmosphericORenergy changesofallkinds,theoriginofdesertsaswellasofareasofgreenvegetation,and allsimilarfunctionswhichdependonthepresenceorabsence,onthescarcityor plentifulnessofORenergy,oxygen,watervapor,rain,sunandwindandtheir interaction. (2)TechnologicalUseofthe"OrgonomicPotential"~

The"OrgonomicPotential"denotesallfunctionsinnaturewhichdependontheflowof cosmicenergy,orpotential,fromLowtoHighorfromWeakertoStrongerSystems. Thustheorgonomicpotentialisthebasisofandfunctionscontrarytothemechanical potential,heat,electromagneticenergy,mechanicalpotentialofposition,etc.The orgonomicpotentialismostclearlyexpressedinthemaintenanceinmostanimalson thisplanetofatemperaturehigherthanthatoftheenvironment,andinthefunctionof gravitationalattraction.Inbothcases,thestrongerenergysystemdrawsenergyfrom orattractsaweakersystemnearby;inbothcasesthepotentialisdirectedfromlowto high,orfromweaktostrong.Gravitationobviouslyfunctionsonthisbasis. Thetechniqueofcloudbustingistoaverylargeextent,ifnotwholly,basedonthe technologicaluseoftheorgonomicpotentialasitgovernstheORenergyfunctionsof theatmosphere. Thetechnologicaluseoftheorgonomicpotentialcanbedivided,basically,intotwo majorgroups: (A)IncreaseoftheORpotential:InthiscaseweconcentrateORenergyandbuildup asteeperorstrongerORpotential.Thiswillhaveentirelydifferenteffectsthan (B)DecreaseoftheORpotential:InthiscasewedisperseordissipateORenergy;we lowerthepotentialdifferenceandcreateatendencytowardmoreorlesequal distributionoftheORenergyintheatmosphericORenergyenvelopeoftheplanet. Weactinthedirectionofthemechanicalpotential. Rainclouds,thunderclouds,hurricanesandtornadoesare,seenfromtheviewpointof orgonomy,differentexpressionofbasicallyoneandthesamefunction,i.e., combinationsofconcentratedORenergystreamsandwatervapors.Manyconditions dependontheintensity,direction,locationandsimilarconditionsrelatedtothe combinationofwaterandORenergy;mostoftheseconditionsstillawaitdetailed studyandlogicalcomprehension. However,thetwobasicprinciplesofcloudbusting,increaseanddecreaseoftheOR potential,sufficeatthemomenttomaketheirtechnologicalusecomprehensible. Ifwewishtodestroycloudswemustusetheorgonomicpotentialinsuchamanner thatthepotentialbetweencloudsandtheirimmediateenvironmentincreases.

Ifwewishtocreatecloudsortoincreasethepowerofexistingclouds,wemustuse theORpotentialinsuchamannerthatthepotentialbetweencloudsandtheir immediateenvironmentincreases. Inordertoexecutethesetwobasicprinciplesinasatisfactorymanner,wemust, logically,constructanduseadevicewhichiscapableofaddingORenergytothe atmosphericORenergyenvelope;or,wemustconstructadevicewhichwilldraw energyfromtheORenvelopeinsuchamannerthattheaffectedregionlosescertain amountsofenergytootherregions,thuschangingtheatmosphericenergyconditions. Sinceatpresent,addingenergytotheatmosphereisnotyetpossible,wemustuse theotherprinciple,thatofdrawingenergyfromtheatmosphere. (3)DrawingOffAtmosphericOREnergy~ InordertodrawoffatmosphericORenergy,wemustaccomplishtwotasks:(a)we mustuseadevicewhichdrawsORenergy;(b)wemustknowintowhatplacetodraw thisenergy. Thisisaccomplishedbychanging,basically,theprincipleofthefunctioningofthe LightningRod: Thelightningrod,too,functionsaccordingtoORenergyprinciples,since"lightning"is atmosphericORenergydischargeinaverynarrowspace.Thepointedrod,reaching intotheatmosphere,attractsthelightningdischargeandconductsitthroughheavy wiresintotheground.Thislightningrodsystemfunctionsaccordingtoorgonomic,and notaccordingtoelectricalprinciples:Inthelightningrodsystem,theatmospheric chargeisdrawnfromtheatmospheretowardthepointoftherodandfurthertoward theearth'scrust.Itis,thus,theorgonomicpotentialfromweaktostrongwhichis operativealsointhecaseofthelightningrod.Iftheelectricalpotentialfromhightolow wereoperativeinthelightningrodsystem,thedirectionofflowwouldnecessarilybe thereverse,fromtheearth'scrusttowardtheatmosphere;theenergywouldstreamoff andawayfromthepointofthelightningrod.* [*Transcriber'sNote(RN@RexResearch):Thatstatementneedstoberevised. anotherinmakingitswaytoearth.Ihavecapturedthisphenomenononvideofroma fewyardsdistance,andwasextremelyluckynottohavebeenstruck.] Cloudbustingoperatesinagreementwiththefunctioningofthelightningrod,onlyifwe putbothfunctions,cloudbustingandlightningrod,onthecommonfunctionalbasisof theORpotential. Cloudbustingdeviatesfromthelightningrodprincipleinfourways:(1)Itspurposeis nottodrawandtogroundboltsoflightning,buttodrawORenergychargesoutof atmosphereandclouds.Indoingso,itdealswiththesamekindofforceasinthe lightning,withoneimportantdifference:Thecloudbusterdrawsthechargesslowly,in smallamountsatatime,dispersed,asitwere,intimeaswellasinconcentration,and notintheformofsuddenlightning.Itdoesnobyway(2)oflong,hollowpipes,andnot ofsolidsteelrods. Thepipes,anynumberofthem,andanylengthbeyondaminimumofabout4meters or12feetusedinourfirstcloudbustingexperiments,havethefunction(3)of triggeringtheatmosphericORenergyflowintocertaindirections.Thefunctionofthe pipesisfulfilledwiththistriggeringofdirectionalflow.OncetheORenergyflowis directedatwill,itcontinuestoflowinthesamedirection,untilanothernaturalor artificialstimuluschangesitagain.Thelightningrod,ontheotherhand,isnotintended todirectORenergyflow.Itonlyfunctionsasaconductortowardthegroundincase concentratedORenergydischarge,i.e.,lightning,happenstocomeitsway. (4)TheORchargesaredrawn(notintothegroundbut)intowater,preferablyinto flowingwaterofbrooks,flowinglakesandrivers.Wedrawintowatersincethe attractionisgreaterbetweenwaterandORenergythanbetweenotherelementsand ORenergy.WaternotonlyattractsORspeedilybutitalsoholdsit,asespeciallyin clouds.Wethushavetheabovepictureoftheprocessofcloudbusting. Thissketchdepictstheprincipleofclouddestructiononly.Itdoesnotsufficetoenable thetechniciantodestroyallexistenttypesofclouds.Thisremainsataskoffuture experimentationincosmicengineering,tobesolvedinmanyways,invariousregions oftheglobe,withvariousmodelsofcloudbusters(variousastonumber,lengthand widthofpipes,directionofdraw,sizeofclouds,maturityofourexperience,etc.).The principle,however,maybedescribedasbasicallycomplete: Onedissipatescloudsofwatervaporbywithdrawing,accordingtotheorgonomic potential,atmospheric(cosmic)ORenergyfromthecenterofthecloud.Thisweakens thecohesivepowerofthecloud:therewillbelessenergytocarrythewatervapors, andthecloudsnecessarilymustdissipate.Theorgonomicpotentialbetweencloud anditsenvironmentislowered.

(4)TheCreationofClouds~ Theprincipleusedinthecreationofcloudsisthesameasthatinthedestructionof clouds:theorgonomicpotentialfromlowtohigh.However,whileinthedestructionof cloudswedrawoffenergyfromthecloudvapor,wedrawenergyfromtheclose vicinityofthecloudifwewishtoenlargeexistentcloudsandtoproceedtoward rainmaking.Thefollowingchartdepictstheprocess. Thetechnologicalexperimentbearsoutthetheoreticalassumption:cloudsdissipate whenthecloudbusterpipesareaimedatthecenter;theygrowwhenweaimatthe closevicinityinthecloudfreesky. Onemaycreatecloudsinthecloudfreeskyinacertainmanner,bydisturbingthe evennessintheinthedistributionoftheatmosphericORenergy;thuscloudsappear upondrawingenergyformtheair.Themorecloudsthatarepresentandtheheavier theclouds,theeasieritistoinducegrowthofcloudsandfinallyrain.Thefewerclouds, themoredifficultitsandthelongerittakesuntilthecloudsgiveuptheirwater. Nomatterwhatthevariations,theprincipleremainsthesameasdescribed:Drawing fromanexistentclouddestroysthecloud.Drawingfromitsvicinitymakesitgrow, Itisnecessarytostopatthispoint.StrongreactiontocloudbustinginRangeley, Maine,havebeenobservedindistantregions(Boston);suchinfluenceonfaraway regionsisduetothecontinuityoftheORenvelope;thedetailswillrequireextensive andcarefulstudy.Wehavealwaysbeencautiousnottooverdowhilecloudbusting, sincesmalltwistersandrapidchangesofwindhavebeenobservedbeyondany reasonabledoubt.Also,ononeoccasion,heavy,prolongedrainoccurreduponfaulty operation. CloudbustingasataskofCosmicOREngineeringwillbyfartranscendthefacilities andpotentialitiesofanysingleinstitutionandevenstateorcountry.Cloudbustingis trulyaninternationalaffairwithnoregardfornationalborders.Thereareneither passportcontrolsnorcustomsofficersintheskywheretheweatherisbeingmade.His isgoodandasitshouldbeinCosmicOREngineering(CORE).

(III)FogLifting Whenithadbeensafelysecuredthattheorgonomicpotentialwassatisfactorily operatinginremovingthenauseatingDOPRcloudsoverOrgonon,andinbreakingas wellasmakingofrainclouds,anewproblemofCOREpresenteditself: Itwaslateinsummer1952;theautumnandwinterwithfogsandsnowstormswere justaheadofus.Woulditbepossibletoliftdensefogtotheextentoflettingthesun shineoveracertainregion?Inthepresentcommunicationweshallonlydealwiththe LiftingofFog.TheexperimentswithfogliftingwereconductedfromOctoberto December1952atOrgonon,Maineandarebeingcontinued. ThefollowingphotographpresentstheFirstCloudbusterbuiltbytheSouthwest MachineCompanyinPortland,Mainein1952.Earlier,amuchmoreprimitivedevice wasconstructedandoperatedatOrgonon. The"SpiralDraw"inFogLifting~ Thetaskoffogliftingisaccomplishedbywayofthesocalled"SpiralDraw".Inorder tounderstanditsfunctioning,oneshouldreturntothebasicprinciplesonwhichcloud bustingrestsasatotaloperation.Torepeat: TheORenergyenvelopeoftheearthplanetmoves,undernormalconditions,fromthe westtowardtheeast,inaccordancewiththedirectionofthedailyrotationoftheglobe, fasterthanthesurfaceoftheearth.Accordingly,anyoperationwhichisintendedto bringinfreshORenergysupplyfromthewest,suchasisthecaseinDRremoval,will usethewesttoeastdirectionofthemovementoftheORenergyenvelopasthe

principleofitsoperation:InordertobringinfreshORenergy,onemustdrawfromthe west,i.e.,pointingthefrontendsofthepipestowardthewestlowabovethehorizon.It naturallydependsupontheclimateandweatherconditionsastohowlongonemust drawtoachievetheresultofmovingthepertinentpartoftheORenvelopefasterfrom westtoeast.IntheregionofOrgonon,5to15minuteswillsufficetoremoveaDOR cloudtowardtheEastbydrawingfreshORenergyfromtheWest.Oncethe surroundinghillsandvalleysbecomebluegrayagain,thetaskisaccomplished.Too longprolongeddrawwillcertainlycausesevererainfromthewest,andstrongwinds uptostormstrength. Fogliftingrequiresacombinationof,andaslightchangein,boththeseprinciples. Fogliftingwouldleadtoraininstead,ifweweredrawinginoneoranotherdirection only.Iffogcoverslargeareas,itisdoubtfulthatdrawingfromthewestalonewould accomplishanything.Thetechnologicalprocedureisthis:

Densefogoverlargeareasisusuallyevenlydistributed.Inworkingwithfoggy conditions,onehastheimpression(animpressiononly)thatitisexactlytheevenness anduniformityofthefogbankwhichconstitutesitscohesionandtenacityinresisting lifting.Therearenopotentialdifferences;itisastaticphysicalstate.Thisassumption isborneoutbytheoperation: Tobreakupfogorevendrizzlingrainonemustdisturbtheevennessofthe distribution,inotherwords,theabsenceofpotentialdifferences.Onemustcreatesuch potentialdifferences.Thisisaccomplishedbythesocalled"Spiral,IntermittentDraw". One"drillsholes",asitwere,intothefoggybankbyverybriefdraws(onlyafew secondseach)atvariouspointsofthesky.Experiencessofarteachthatthesocalled spiraldrawoperatesbestinthefollowingmanner: (1)Drillaholeintothezenithaboveyoufor15to45seconds. (2)Spiralveryslowlytowardthehorizon,inanintermittentmotion,i.e.,withbriefstops, 2to5secondseach,asyouspiraltheskyformthezenithdowntowardthehorizon. Seenfromthegroundtowardthezenith,thetotalspiraldrawlookssomewhatlikethis: Thespiralturnsmaybedrawnatanydistancefromeachother.Between4to8turns willsufficeinmostsituations. Afterhavingaccomplishedthespiraldraw,itisnecessarytotrigger,pushlike,the westtoeastdirectionoftheORflowoftheplanetaryenvelope.Thiswesttoeast triggeringshouldnotlastlongerthanabouthalfaminute,moreorless,dependenton thestillnessoftheORatmosphere.Tooshortatriggeringpushwesttoeastwouldnot sufficetoacceleratethemovement;toolongadrawfromthewesteasilymaybrig aboutsevererainformtheeast,orasquall. Therefore,thetriggerpushwesttoeast,afterthespiraldrawhasbeendone,should behandledwithgreatcareandbebasedonmuchpracticalexperienceaccordingto theregion,theweather,andsimilarcircumstances. SinceallORoperationsarebasicallyrestingonfunctional,andnotonmechanistic principles,theycannotberigidlyexecuted. Thetotaldraw,persingledrawoperation,wasatOrgonon,approximately5minutes.

Withheavyfog,itmaybenecessarytoexecutew,4ormoresingledrawstoachieve results.Asingledrawmaybreakthefogbankandletthesuncomeshiningthrough, butthefogmaycloseinagainandnotbudgefinallyuntilafterthe4thor5thdraw. Theliftingoffogcaneasilybelearnedandoperatedbyanyonewhoseorgonotic senseisunimpairedandwhohassomeknowledgeofnaturalweatherfunctions.Itis alsoobviousthatthecloudbusteroperationscannotbeexecutedonthebasisofthe classical,thermicalassumptionsabouttheoriginofthevariousformsofweather.The relationshipofhotandcoldairmassesmust,quitelogically,bedependentuponand secondarytomorebasic,energeticfunctionsoftheOrgoneenvelope.The CloudbusteroperationrestonthefirmprinciplesofthefunctionsoftheORenergy envelopeoftheglobe. Weshall,inanothercommunication,proceedtomentionafewrules,medicaland general,inhandlingtheCloudbuster.Onemustnotfollowthetemptationtoplay aroundtoomuchwitthis"toy".Cloudbustingisaveryseriousandhighlyresponsible business.Theimportanceoffogdispersalforaeronauticsisobvious.Soisthe removalofDORclouds.BothoperationshavebeenconductedatOrgononbyour caretakerquiteonhisown,withoutmypresenceorhelp,andwithgreatsuccess. Discipline,relianceonorgonomicobservationsoftheatmosphereandawell functioningFirstOrgonoticSense,makefogliftingarelativelyeasytask.However, "playingaround"withtheCloudbustertoproveoneselfone'scosmicomnipotence,is onlyasignofirresponsibility,ifnotignorance. ChapterIV OROPDesertProject

Whathasbeenpresentedheretoforeiscloselyrelatedtothetwoperhapsgravest problemsofhumanity:DroughtandDesert.Aslongasonedwellsinforests,onemust knowallthelittlebushesandtrails;onemustbeabletofellatree,andonemustknow

howtoprotectoneselffromlightningandstorm.However,onceonestartsflyingajet plane30,000feetabovetheearth'ssurface,thingsbeingtochangetheirlooksrapidly. Theforestandthesmalltrailandalltherest,importantastheycertainlyare,shrink, nottoinsignificance,buttotheirpropersizeasviewedfromhighup.Here,thechange oftheobserver'spositionfromtheearthlytothecosmicperspectiveisimperativeif oneistocomprehendthetaskOROPDesert.Allthespecializedknowledgewilleasily fallintoitsplace,oncewegainthebirdseyeviewofthetotalproblem.This,ofcourse, isgiveninthenatureofthetaskitself,governedbyitsownlaws. ThedesertproblememergedfromOranurinthefollowingmanner: TheDORcloudsbegancominginoverOrgononenmasseduringApril1952.An extensivedescriptionoftheirinfluenceuponvegetationandanimallifewasgivenin ChapterIII.Thegeneralimpressionwasthatofaneventdistinctlydetrimentaltoall kindsoflife.Thelandscapetookontheexpressionofdesolationanddying.True,it recuperatedeasilyassoonastheDORcloudhadpassedorwasremovedwiththe Cloudbuster.Inthesamemanner,onecameclosetodyingthroughtotalparalysisif onehappenedtofallasleepintheObservatoryforafewhours;onealsorecuperated quicklyinfreshair.Thiswasexperiencedonmanyoccasionsbymyselfandothers. Thecarefulreaderisaskedtofocusonthiscontradictionsharply.Induetimeitwill openforusthedoortothetechnicalproblemsinOROPDesert.Onecaneasily visualizethemechanicsofthispeculiarityifoneimaginesapersonchokingtodeathin agaragefullofcarbonmonoxide,yetrecuperatingwhenfreshairtakeseffect. Thisistosay:Thereisnothingmoredistressinganddangeroustohumanlifethan desert,thechangingoffruitfullandintoadustbowl,thestarvingtodeathofwhole populations,thedecayofflourishingculturesduetodrought.Yet,therewillbe,to judgefromourexperimentsinDORremoval,comparativelylittledifficultyinbringing Lifebackintoitsownrights.ThefirstconditionofOROPDesertisexactunderstanding oftheORenergyfunctionsinvolvedintheoriginofdeserts. Toreturntoourmainlineofthoughts:Itwassoonobviousthatweweredealingwith functionsofdesertdevelopment.HowtoremovetheDOR(whichisnomorethanLife Energygonestaleandstagnant)thusbecameafirstrankproblem.Whiledeliberating onthisproblem,theSouthwesterndesertareasintheUSAofferedthemselvesasa

perfectcasetotestthevalidityoftheorgonetheoryregardingdeserts.Thebasic observationsondroughtandtheassumedinfluenceofthesunonthecurrentsand moistureintheatmosphere,anddisplacementsintheatmospherefallperfectlyinto placewiththebirdseyeviewoftheorgonetheoryifoneiswillingtoacceptthe followingamendmentstoourunderstandingofweatherfunctionsingeneral: Wemustask:Whatmakestheatmospheremove?And:Whatchangestheamountof moistureandprecipitation?Theydonotmoveandchangebythemselves.Gaseous atmosphereandwatervaporareinnowayprimordialfunctionsofnature.Theymust havedevelopedfromprimordialenergyfunctions.Theywerenotalwaysthereand theymaydisappearorchangeagain.Thepresenceofdesertitselfprovesthepoint. Seenfromtheviewofthebasic,functionallawofnature,itisthecosmicORenergy whichsurroundstheplanetinitsdevelopmentalbeginningthatisthesourceand powerofallmotion.ItisnecessarytoassumethatitistheORenergyinthe atmospherewhichbringsaboutthedevelopmentofthevariousgaseouscomponents oftheair.AnditmustfinallybetheORenergyenvelopeoftheglobewhich,atbottom, isresponsibleforairmovementsandshiftsofmoisture,asitisresponsibleforthe movementoftheplanetandallothermovements.Thisiswhywecametonameitthe Primal,CosmicEnergy. Iftheaircurrentskeepapredominantlywesteasterndirectioninunisonwiththe directionoftheearth'srotationonitsaxis.ItisagaintheORenergystreaminthe equatorialplanewhichmakesbothglobeandatmospheremovefromwesttoeast. Accordingtocarefulobservationsinourregionshortlybeforerainfall,onecanclearly see,withonly60to100foldmagnification,thewesttoeasterndirectionoftheflowof theatmosphericORenergyreversingitselftoeasttowest,iftherainfollowsfromthe west.Oncetheskiesclearagain,usuallyaverystrongwindfromthewestdevelops. Thiswind,ormovementofairmassesfromwesttoeast,istheresultofwhatcameto becalledthe"Backwash",i.e.,reversaltoitsoriginalwesttoeastdirectionoftheflow oftheatmosphericORenergy. Whatisusuallycalledthe"influenceofthesun"uponweatherformation,requiresthe followingcorrection:thisinfluenceisexertedbythesunthroughvarioustrigger functionseffectingtheorgoneenergyenvelopeoftheglobeEarth.Thesundoesnot

actdirectly,butindirectlythroughexcitationorirritationoftheintermediaryORenergy ocean. Withthesenewviewsinourminds,wemayventureintoanattempttocomprehend thedynamicsfadesertliketheoneinthesouthwesternUSA. Thefollowingisnomorethanasuggestion.Itispossibleausefulsuggestion.It requiresampleproofofitsvalidity,anditwillbeabandonedshouldsuchproofnotbe forthcomingwithhonesteffort.Toremindthereader:Wearedealingwithblueprints only,andnotwithfinishedbuildings. LetusstudythereliefofthewesternUSAnFigure7carefullywithregardtothewest toeastequatorialORenergystreamwhichcarriestheairmassesandthewater vaporsfromthePacificeastward. Theeffectofthetwonearlyparallelnorthsouthrangesofhighmountains,theSierra NevadaandtheRockyMountains,uponthelower,rainproducinglayersoftheOR envelopewillbethese: (1)CominginfromthePacificOcean,carryingeastwardwithitairrichinmoisture,the equatorialORenergystreamwillmeetthe MISSINGPara(2) Figure9:AverageAnnualRainfallintheUSA~

(3)TheeasternslopesoftheRockyMountainsandthegreatplainsadjoiningthemto theeast,havenotonlymuchrainfall,butalsoaresubjecttoanunusualprevalenceof floods,tornadoes,twisters,andotherkindsofatmosphericdisturbanceswhichallbear theearmarksofcosmicenergyeffects. LetusfirstconsiderthesituationtotheeastoftheRockyMountains,withrespectto theORpotential.Theraindoesnotcomeoverthemountainsfromthewestoreven fromthePacific.ThiswesternraindriveisheldupalreadyattheSierrasandinthe aridregionsbetweentheSierrasandtheRockies.TheraineastoftheRockiesdoes comefromtheeasternareasoftheUSA. Asusual,raininthewestiscausedbyareversaloftheORenergyflowfromwestto easttowest.TheschematicdrawinginFigure10belowshowsthatthereversed,east towestflowofORenergyrebounds,asitwere,fromtheeasternslopesoftheRocky Mountains,eastwardagain.Itcarriesitsgreatmoisturecontentsfirstwestward,not reachingintothedesertoverthemountainpeaks,andthenreversesitscourseback eastwardtowardtheAtlanticOcean.Thus,ahighconcentrationofmoistureresults whichfeedstheagriculturalrichesoftheGreatPlainstothepointofflooddisasters. Thetornadoeswhichhappenheresofrequentlyrequirestillanotherpointofviewfor theircomprehension.

Fromtheorgonoticconsiderationsofthepastfewpagesfollowlogicallythe conclusion: IfitwerepossibletodrawORenergyandmoistureovertheSierrasintothedesertand fromhereovertheRockyMountains,thedesertregionoftheUSAcouldbechanged intofruitgrowingcountry. Achallengingtaskindeed!Andone,too,whichwouldserveasafirsttestinthe trainingforfargreatertaskssuchasfructificationofotherdesertlands,India,Sahara, theNearEast. OROPDesertwasconceivedonJuly7,1952.Duringthisverysamesummer,thefirst practicalstepsweretakeninarathercrudeformbydrawingDORawayfromOrgonon andtheRangeleyregioninvariousplacesandwithawiderangeofvariousresults.It wasgoodexperimentationinwhichonemademanystupidmistakes;mistakeswhich were,asusualinseriousresearch,thebestguidepoststotrulygratifyingresults. InconsequenceofthesefirstCloudbusterexperiments,finallythefirstseriousdrought ofmanyweeksdurationwasbrokeninNewEnglandonAugust1and2,1952.

OnAugust1,1952,afirst,conclusiveconfirmationwasobtainedforthehypothesisof OROPDesert. ItrainedheavilyatOrgononfortwodays,August8and9,afterthedroughthadbeen brokenonAugust2(seebelow).However,atEustisRidge,only26milesawaytothe north,ithadnotrainedatall.Iaskedthefarmer,M.Armstrong,sincedeceased, whetherhethoughtitpossiblethatthemountainrangebetweenRangeleyand StrattonEustisRidgehadhelduptherain.Heagreedandstatedthatthiswasawell knownfacttofarmers. Thisaccomplishmenthoweverisduetothegreatirritabilityandsensitivityofthe cosmicORenergyocean,andnottothegreatnessofthespeaker.InCloudbusting, thedangersaremuchgraver,indeed,thaninradiospeeches.Twisters,suddenand unexpectedchangesinwinddirection,severegustsandsimilareffectsaretobe expectedinthemostcarefullyexecutedoperations.TheCOREeffectscanreachvery far,to300milesandmorewithonecloudbusteralone.Italldependsonknowingwhat oneisdoingandwhy.Inthebeginning,greatcareinnotoverreachingthesafelimitis ofcrucialimportance.WhoeverknowsthedynamicsoftheORenergywillnotfailtobe overcautiousratherthan"daring".Onecaneasilyrecognizetheignoramusinhis playful,senselessoverdoing,showingoff,"demonstrating"cloudbusting.Theeffects aresoeasilyobtainedthatwemustguardagainstthismenacefromthevery beginning. Theshape,characterandfunctioningofdroughtcloudsbecameclearduringthefirst weeksofthegraveDORemergencyinAprilandmay1952.Thishappenedinthe followingmanner: Cloudswhichdriftedinfromthewestchangedtheirshapeandcolor.Cominginwhite orgraywhite,theyhadoverOrgononasteelgray,"dirty"lookingappearance.They alsolosttheirtypicalshapecharacterizedbyagreatvarietyofforms:theybecame mechanicallyquadrangular,sharpedged,asitwere.Furthermore,theyseemedto hoverovertheObservatorybuildingforhoursonend,notmovingonwardtowardthe east.Thus,afterseveralweeksofcarefulobservation,itbecamepossibleto recognizethesecloudsbytheirmechanicaledginess,theirdirty,steelgraycolorand theirhoveringoverOrgonon.Inthebeginning,itwasincomprehensiblewhatitwas thatmadethesecloudschangetheirshape.Lateron,whenthethunderstormseason

wasathand,anotherobservationbroughtsomeunderstandingtothesefunctions;they werefinallycomprehendedin1953. Duringthesummerof1952,notasinglethundercloudpassedoverOrgonon.There wasnothunderstormorlightningovertheRangeleyregion.All"thunderheads"which cameinfromthewesteitherpartedtheirwaytonorthandsouthofOrgonon,several milesapart,ortheydissolvedintofuzzylooking,incoherentshredlikepiecesof formerlyimpressive,heavyanddarkbluethunderheads.PeopleinRangeleyobserved thisstrangephenomenonallthroughthesummerof1952untillateautumn.Onlyafew thunderstormspassedinthevicinityofOrgononin1953;nonepasseddirectly overhead. Thecloudsdispersedeasily;theydidnotseemtobeabletoholdtogether(seeFigure 14).Thethin,shreddypieceswere,aswelearnedlater,ofthesamekindastrue droughtclouds.Fromthenonwarditwaseasytopredictreductioninrainfallandlater alsodrought.Todiagnosedroughtinadvance,however,didnotdevelopfurtherduring 1952,untillateinAugust,afterseveralattemptswiththecloudbusterfailedtocreate cloudsortomakeexistentcloudsgrowheavywithwatervapor. Atthis"OROPRangeley"whichtookplaceatabridgesouthwestofRangeley,I prolongedtheformer15to30minutesofcautiouspointingoftubestowardthesky ("Drawing")intoafull80minutesDraw.Idrewfromnearlyexactlyoppositethe directiontowhereIintendedtodirecttheatmosphericORenergystream.Thegoal

wastobuildupastrongorgonomicpotentialattheAtlanticcoasttothesoutheast. Hereforthefirsttime,movingthetubeswithdrawingmovementsandusingthezenith too,toloweritspotential,wasemployed. TheatmosphereovertheObservatorywashighlyactiveorgonotically.Intermsof orgonephysics:Theatmospherewashighlyexcitedanddischargedeverysingle accumulationofchargesrightaway.TheORpotentialovertheObservatorywasmuch higherthaneventhepotentialoftheapproachingclouds.TheirORenergywas withdrawnfromthemastheyapproached;thewatercontentcouldnotbeheld togetherinlargemasses;Dispersive,expansive,anddischargingfunctionsinthe atmosphereprevailedbyfaroverthecontracting,accumulatingandcharging functions.ThisprevalenceofexpansivedissipationofORenergyconstitutesthe dynamicsofdroughtclouds:Rainfallbecomesimpossibleorhighlyinsufficient. ThewithdrawalofORenergyfromcloudsresultingindissipationofthewatervapor shouldbedistinguishedfromthewithdrawalofwatervaporfromcloudsbyDOR presentintheatmosphere,alsoresultingindissipationofclouds.Cloudseedingseems toimmobilizetheORenergyinthecloudsresultinginthedroppingoutofwaterwhich nolongercanbesuspended. (3)Rainmaking~ Obviously,rainmakingdependsonthepossibilitiesathandtoreversethefunctional conditionsthatleadtothedrought.Theseconditionsaretypicalforeverykindof drought(DORclouds,fuzzyclouds,strongdehydrationofairandsoil,prevalenteven dissipationandexpansiveforceofOR);therearealsospecialconditions,specificfor thedroughtareainquestion.Itis,forinstance,mucheasiertobreakadroughtinthe vicinityofanoceanthaninland.

Thefunctionsoppositeofdroughtthatleadtorainarethefollowing: (1)Strengtheningofthecohesivefunctionofexistentclouds. (2)Creationofcloudsincloudless,droughtyskies. (3)Preventionofdissipationofnewlycreatedclouds. (4)DirectingtheORenergystreaminsuchamannerthatthecloudsgrowandunite intoevergreaternits. (5)Drawinginmoisturefromoceans. (6)RepeatingCOREoperationsinsuchamannerandasoftenasnecessary,toforce thecloudstogrowuntilfinallytheypourouttheirwatercontent,duetoprevalenceof watercontentovercarryingORenergy. (7)Guardingagainstoverdoing,sothatnomajordisastermaytakeplacein consequenceofOROPrain. Therearemanymorepointstobementioned.However,itisnecessaryfirsttoget thoroughlyacquaintedwiththeabovementionedbasictenets.Theyhadbecomeclear bytheendoftheyear1952;theywerepracticallyoperableattheOROPDrought whichtookplaceatEllsworthbearBarHarbor,MaineonJuly6,1953,uponinvitation bytwofruitgrowers.

ChapterVI OROPEllsworth(July56,1953)

ThisoperationwasbasedonthealreadywellknownfactthattheatmosphericOR energyflowsbasicallyfromwesttoeast,inaccordancewith,butfasterthantherateof rotationoftheglobe.Ifoneintendstocauseraintofallinacertainregionwith prevalentwesttoeastflowofenergy,onemustdrawpredominantlyagainstthis direction,thatisfromeasttowest.Intihsmanner,onecausesareversaloftheOR

energystream;inconsequencethereofaconcentrationofORenergywithahigher potentialwillbeestablishedtothewestoftheplaceoftheintendedrainfall.Inthe successfuloperation,therainwillconcentrateinthewestandwillsoonerorlater followthenormalcourseofthewesttoeastflowofORenergy,thuscomingfromthe west.* (*Indifferentregionsoftheglobeconditionsmaydifferconsiderablyfromthosehere described.Therefore,specificstudywillberequiredineachnewregion.) Therewillalwaysbea"weatherfront"tothewestoftheplaceofdraw.Raincannot comeoutofnothingandfromnowhere,asitwere.Thisanswersoneargumentwhich wasraisedagainstourEllsworthsuccess:"TheresultofOROPEllsworthisdoubtful sinceafrontofweathercameinfromthewest".Ofcourse,theweatherfrontcamein fromthewest,fromtheregionoftheGreatLakes.Fromwhereelseshoulditcome? ThefactsthatputthepositiveresultsoftheEllsworthoperationbeyonddoubtwere these: (1)TheNewEnglanddroughtwassevere;ithadlastedseveralweeksalready,withno cloudsandnorainoverawideareainthenorthernUSA.Theweatherpredictionfor thedayofOROPEllsworthwas:"Nomoistureintheair,norainforanother3days".It rainedabout10hoursafterconclusionofthedrawoperation,July6,1953.The droughtwasdefinitelybroken:nosuchbreakwasforecastbytheUSWeatherBureau. ThebreakingoftheJuly1953droughtshowedexactlythesamechainlikeactivityin itsspreadingoverhundredsofmilesasdidthebreakingofthedroughtonAugust2, 1952,fromRangeley,withabundantrainstartingfromtheregionofthedraw. (2)TheweatherfrontthatcameintowardBarHarborfromthewestonJuly6had beenengineeredbyaonehourOROP,predominantlyfromeasttowest,and southeasttonorthwest.Thepreviousday,July5,1953,atOrgonon,160milestothe westofEllsworth.Thus,onthedayprecedingthemainOROPatEllsworthonJuly5,a concentrationandcondensationwithhighpotentialhadbeenaccomplishedabout200 milestothewestofOrgonon,orroughly360to400milesfromEllsworth.Thewestern weatherfront,too,wasunpredictedbytheUSWeatherBureauforJuly5and6;it knewnothingabouttheOROPatOrgonon. (3)Thefollowingchart,Figure16,showsthedirectionofthemainrainfallatEllsworth,

topointofthefinalOROP,anditsapproximatedensitywithrespecttosurrounding regions.Themainpointsofimportarethese: (a)OROPEllsworthlasted70minutes.Wedrewmainlyformtheeasttowestand southeasttonorthwest,withoccasionaloperationsouthtonorth.Theintended directionofrainfallwasNWtoSE.Theactualrainfallwas,ineffect,NWtoSE;the maindirectionofheavyrainfall,beginningthenightofJuly6.7,1953,wasBangorto EllsworthtoBarHarbor. (b)Thechart(Figure16)showsonlylightrainfalltothenorthandsouthoftheareaof themainrainfall.Thisisanotherexampleofthenearexactnessandthepossibilitiesof OranurWeatherControl. Thisprotocolmentionsanunexpectedfrontoffogformtheeast.AlthoughatOROP EllsworththeORflowwasdeliberatelydirectedfromtheEtoSW,itwasdonesoonly withthedirectionoftheORflowinmind.Noonegaveanythoughttowhatactually happenedlater.Itwasoneofthoseunintendeddevelopmentswhichtellmorethan hundredsofcontrolexperimentsandadhoctheories: Wehad,withoutbeingawareofit,drawnnotonlyORenergybutwithittremendous amountsofmoisturefromtheocean.Thismoisturebegantostreaminlandfromthe Atlanticasfog,onabroadfrontandseveral(unmeasured)hundredsoffeethigh, fogginginthewholeregion.Atabout16:00hr.July6,Idroveinmycarwithmy daughterEvaReichtowardthecoastintheregionofHancock,ME.Weobservedwith amazementthebroadandhighfrontoffogrollinginland.Itwasclearwhatthisfog meantthen,andwhatitwouldmeansinthefuture:Drawinginmoisturefromthe oceanadlibitum,inacontrolledmanner;fogginginstretchesofcoastforprotection againstenemyattackfromairandsea;fructifyingdesertsbydrawinginmoistureat willfromtheoceansoverdesertland,plannedrainmaking,etc. ThefogthatwasrollingintowardthebarHarborregionwasdenseandobstructed visibilityevenforcardrivers.IthadnotbeenforeseenbytheweatherBureau;forthis, theweathermenarenottobeblamedsinceitwasanexperimentallyinducedfog whichcouldnotpossiblyhavebeenforeseen. Thequestionremainedopenastohowsuchdrawinginoffogfromtheoceanover stretchesoflandcouldbeaccomplishedregularlyandawfully,Butweneednotworry: oncedone,itwouldnottakemuchtechnicalskilltoperfectsuchoperations.Wewere surprisedatthefoggingin,inspiteofourhavingbeenpreparedboththeoreticallyand practicallyforitbyfogliftingoperationsduringthepreviouswintermonthsconducted atOrgonon. FollowingareafewreportsontheEllsworthoperation[Onlyoneofthreeincluded here]:

USArmyplanesappearedforthefirsttimeoverOrgononmonitoringtheatmosphere onthemorningofJuly8,1953.TheUSGovernmenthadapparentlybecome interestedinourexperimentalweathercontroloperationstojudgefromitscontinued observationalactivitiesduringthefollowingmonths. OnJuly11,1953,PresidentEisenhower,afterflyingoverthepainsofdroughtstricken TexasandOklahoma(NYTimes,July11,1953):Warnsagainstdelay"Let'snot delay",thePresidenttoldtheaudience."Let'stoshillyshallyandwaituntilthelastcow starvesanddiesontherange.TheheartoftheFederalGovernmentisnotconcerned merelywithWashingtonandNewYork",hetoldtheTexans."Itisconcernedwiththe UnitedStates,andeveryman,womanandchildinit." Inthemeantime,someoneactingbehindthescenes,triedtopreventfurther publicationontheEllsworthsuccess.AttheoperationonJuly6itself,afewyoung

men,unknowntome,triedtobeobnoxiousinasneering,contemptuousmanner. Theywerereprimandedonthespot,andwerealsoadmonishedlateronbytheir superiorsattheuniversity.Thisincidentmaywellhavebeenapreliminarystepto obstructouroperationsonthepartofthoseafraidtosuffereconomicallybya successfulOROPDesert.OuroperatorinHancockhadtobewarnedintime,sincehe wasasinexperiencedinthedoingsoftheemotionalplagueasaremostpeople.Ina letterofJuly6,Iwarnedtheoperatoragainsttheundergroundmoles.(ArchiveDoc.# 10923EP) ThemanuscriptsentuponrequesttotheBangorDailyNewshadnotarrivedatits pointofdestination.Furthermore,thepublicationonOROPEllsworthwasscheduled forSaturday,July25.Tooursurprise,ithadappearedalreadyFriday,July24,adayin advance.Weconcludedfromthisthatagainsomebodyhadtriedtointerfere. TheBangorDailyNewsgaveanextensivefavorableaccountonOROPEllsworth.It soonwasbroadcastontheradioinBostonandabstractedinanewspaperinIsrael.

ChapterVII OROPOrgonon(July23,1953)

(1)OROPOrgononOutofControl(July23,1953)~ Afterthesuccessful,theoreticallylucidOROPEllsworth,experimentationOROP DesertcontinuedatOrgonon.OnJuly17,onlyoneweekafterthedroughthadbeen broken,anewdroughtdevelopedinNewEngland.InotherregionsoftheUSAthe severedroughthadcontinuedunabated. ThedilemmaatOrgononwasgrave.Therewasonlythechoicebetweenlettingthe droughtgoonwithoutanycountermeasures,ortotakealltherisksinvolvedina seriesofoperationwhichwereatthesametimeexperimental,uncertain,ladenwith dangertocommunities,butalsowithresponsibilityforpossiblebreakingofthe drought.ThedilemmawasthemoregravesinceattheendofJulyoneoperation droughtwentoutofcontrolintheStateofNewYork.Suchinfactwaslearnedfrom

thesefailuresandfromthelossofcontroloverarainstorm.Thedetailsofthe happeningsinthesecondhalfofthemonthofJuly1953werethese: "Weatherbee"ofBoston,reportingonweatherforecastsatBostonstationWBZ,visited OrgonononAugust7,1953.BeforethisvisithehadbeenintouchwithOrgononsince thereportonOROPEllsworthhadappearedintheBangorDailyNews."Weatherbee" hadmentionedtheoperationatOrgononontheBostonradio.Lateron,heusedfrom timetotimeto"askforrain",asitwere.OnlyOrgononcouldbemeant,sincenoone else,toourknowledge,excepttheorgoneenergyoceanitself,couldhavebeen meant. OnTuesday,July14,1953,Boston"requested""morerain";;"Notenoughrainhas fallen",morerainisneededforNewEngland.Idecidedtodrawthefollowingdayfor raintowardthesouthandsouthwest,thatistowardBostonandNewYork.Iwas interestedtolearnwhetherdirectingrainfromOrgonontoplaces250to500miles awayinawellreasonedmannerwouldbepossible.Therefore,Ifollowedthehint givenbytheBostonradio;IdrewonJuly15,NWtoSEfrom18to19hours.Norain ensued.TheskiesremaineddroughtyatOrgononandweredroughtyagainalsoatthe BarHarborcoast.IdidnotunderstandwhyIhadfailed.ButIknewthatIhadfailed, whichisessential,too. IdrewoncemoretowardthesouthandwestonJuly17,andtwicetowardSWandW, thatistowardtheStateofNewYork,onJuly18,aSaturday.OnthisdayIachieved cloudformationinaformerlycloudless,droughtysky.Evensmallercloudsgrewinto hugemasseswhenIdrewfromtheclosevicinityofthealreadyexistingclouds. However,afterafewhours,inspiteofonehourand50minutesdrawandone additionaldrawof45minutes,thecloudsfailedtoholdtogether.Theydissipatedagain andagain,andadroughtyskywasoncemoreaboveOrgonon.Failure,fourtimesina rowIwaitedforfurtherdevelopment,withoutanynewattemptatOROPDrought. OnSunday,July19,around10a.m.,aheavyhazewasseentothewest.Slowly cloudsdevelopedtotheWandSW.SlowlycloudsdevelopedtothewestandSW between8to11a.m.,Thunderandlightningwereheardandseentothewestata greatdistance,butnorainreachedordevelopedat2pm.Theraincontinued throughoutthenighttoJuly21,bringinginitswakerelieffromDORanddrought.

Onespecialobservationworriedmegreatly: UsuallywhenonedrawsforrainfromthewestorNW,theORenergystreamreverses itsdirectiontoEtoW;thisisasitshouldbe.However,thistime,whenfourOROPS hadfailedtobringrain,theEtoWORstreamcontinuedfordaysonend,visibleinthe winddirectionandalsointhetelescope.TheEtoWdirectionkeptonallthrough Tuesday,July21,atOrgononinspiteofheavyrainfallandcontinuedthesamewayall throughWednesday,July22.Itturnedoutlatertohavebeenthecertainindicationof theseverestormwhichwastobreakovertheNewYorkareaonJuly22and23.I madeanoteinmyrecord,"FearofBackwashfromWest"."Backwash",thereader mayremember,isthetechnicaltermforthebackflowofORenergyWtoEaftera prolongedEtoWflow,thus: Figure17:Backwash~

Then,onJuly23and24,asevererainstormlashedtheNewYorkregionandpoured down3.38inchesofraininafewhours.Thisstormfinallybrokethedroughtspellof twomonthsinNewYork,accordingtotheNewYorkTimesofJuly24andtheBangor DailyNewsofJuly24,1953;thesamedayitreportedonthebreakingofthedroughtin theBarHarborregionofJuly6,andtheNYTimesfollowedwithanextensivereport Onecouldstillarguewhetherthisstormwasactuallycausedbytheseveralinitially fruitlessdrawingsatOrgonon,beginningJuly17.Suchquestionscannotbeanswered fromsingleexperiencessincechancemayalwayshaveitsplayinsuchevents. However,suchincidentsgaininclarityandcertaintyiftheyrepeatthemselvesina typicalfashion,andiftheirdynamicsrevealapatternwhichcanbemastered.Withthis inourmindsweshallproceedfurther. OROPOrgononofJuly1722,1953seemedindirectlyresponsibleforthesevere rainstormintheNewYorkregionbecauseithadfailedtoinducerainatOrgonon withinafewhoursasusualafteraone0hourdraw.Ithadcausedacontinued streamingofORplusmoistureinlandtotheWandSWuntilthestormbrokeoverNew York.TheinitialfailureoftherepeatedOROPatOrgonon,andtheconsequentNew Yorkdelugeprovided,however,apartfrombreakingatwomonthsdroughtspell,a pieceofknowledgeofincalculablevalue: OROPiscapableofbringingaboutweatherchangestoregionsasfarawayas500to 600miles. Theproblemofhowtocontrolsuch"TeleOrop"astodesiredamountanddirectionof rainfallremainedopen. Fromhereonward,twobasicproblemsofcosmicengineeringwerenecessarilyfixed intheresearcher'smind: (1)ItisobviousnowthatOROPDesertcanbeeffectiveatlongdistances.Thisisso, becausetheORenergyoceanpresentsaverysensitive,easilyirritablecontinuumof energy.ButhowisonetoconcentrateanOROPuponasingle,distant,circumscribed object,townorcountryside? (2)Couldthemainthoroughfaresofthecosmicenergy,theequatorialandthegalactic ORenergystream,asoutlinedtheoreticallyin"CosmicSuperimposition",beused

technologicallyIwillfuloperations?ArethesemainORenergystreamsrealand usable? Wearisometheseproblemswere,indeed,butinnowayinaccessibletoan experimentalanswer.Bothquestionswere,atleastinacrudeway,answeredduring theautumnof1953. Inordertomaketheanswerstothesequestionscomprehensibletothestudentof OROPDesert,wemustrelatemoredetailedfactsaboutthecontinueddroughtinthe USAfromJulyOctober,1953. (2)UnknownFriendswereactiveonbehalfofOROPDesert~ OnJuly27,10:30am,aheavythunderstormwasapproachingfromtheWtoward Orgonon.Forthefirsttime,inpreparationforthebiggertask,experimentationwith hurricanes,thecloudbusterwasdirectedtowardthethunderheadsintheW;the machinewasheavilygrounded.Theresults,afteronlyafewminutesdraw,were satisfactory.ThethunderheadstotheWdissolved,filledintwiceagainandwere dissolvedagainwithbrief3060seconddraws.Theclearingoftheskykeptonina perfectmannerforonehouroverOrgonon.AllaroundOrgonon,theheavyclouds werecontinuingtogatherstrengthat12noon. OROPDesertlostinterestsomewhatafterJuly31:anewbranchofCOREscience wasinauguratedlateinJuly1953,anattemptatthePreAtomicChemistryofOranur. Thelossofinterestwasalso,tosomeextentduetothesilencewhichengulfedourOR operationinallsides.Butthissilencewasaratheraudibleone,asitwere. InJune,1953,ataxassessorfromAugusta,Maine,turnedupatOrgonon.Hewasa verykindandopenfacedgentlemanwhoseemedtoknowagreatdealaboutnatural science.Wehadapleasantdiscussionaboutscienceratherthanabouttaxes.Hewas shownthedamagethathadbeencausedatOrgononbytheDORclouds;hewastold byeyewitnessesaboutthegreatemergency,theevacuationofbuildingsatOrgonon, theimpossibilityofworkinginthelaboratorybuildings.Butsomehowheseemedmuch moreinterestedinthedestructionofcloudsthaninourODRemergencyandintax relief.Therewas,later,notaxreduction.Butthetaxassessorobtainedafewpiecesof literatureandlefthighlysatisfiedwithwhathehadseenandheard.

SometimeinearlyspringIhadvisitedBarHarborregionwheremydaughterEvalives andpracticesmedicine.IhadsoughtadviceregardingmywillattheTrustBankinBar Harbor.ImetaverykindbankofficialwithwhomIleftmywillandsomedocuments regardingthetransformationoftheWilhelmReichFoundationintoanInfantTrust Fund. Onlyashortwhilelater,therequestforOROPEllsworthcameinfromtheblueberry growers.IcouldnotrefutemyimpressionthatthisOROPhadbeenastagedone,a publictest,asitwere.However,itremainedariddlehowthenthedesignersofOROP EllsworthhadsucceededtoinduceoutHancockoperatortoofferhelpbytheOrgone Institutetothefruitgrowers. GeologicalsurveyorsappearedatRangeley,preparedtostudythewidespread deteriorationofgraniterockinourvicinity. AtowerforrelayingradiomessageshadbeenerectedneartheObservatoryin December1952,andnowRCAoutfitsvisitedtheregionofRangeleywithapurpose notquiteunknowntome. BostonRadiohadmentionedtheOrgoneInstituteanditsweathercontrolsuccess. Thenewspapers,too,hadforthefirstinadecadetreatedorgonomicresearchwith candidopenmindedness.Nosneers,noinsinuations,noneofthe"usual" unpleasantnessthatorgonomyhadgonethroughforsuchalongperiodoftime,in fact,eversincethefirstbionswereseeninamicroscopein1936inNorway. Ihadthedistinctfeelingthattherewasagroupofgoodfriendsaround,stillhidden, sinceorgonomyhadbeenpresentedbysomekindof"Devil'sScheme"todestroythe world.Butnowweweredealingwithunknowngoodfriends.Iwasdelighted.Ididnot daretellthistomycoworkers.TheywouldhaveshakenitoffasWR'susualillusionary optimism.I,however,wasconvincedthatIwasright.ItseemedasifOROPDesert whichIhadannouncedtotheUSGovernmentinAugust1952whileapplyingfora passport,hadfinallybrokennotonlythedroughtbutalsothespellofsilenceand slanderthathadthreatenedtoengulfmylabors.Thisbeliefhadnotbeenshaken since.Onthecontrary,ithadbeenconfirmed.

ChapterVIII OROPChildren'sParade(August89,1953)

Itwasagreatpleasure,indeed,tohelpthe"Doc"Grant"Children'sparade"onAugust 9,1953bykeepingrainfromfallingovertheRangeleyregion.Thetaskofpreventing rainfromfallingwasnew,achallengetoouryoungtechnologyofCosmicOR Engineering. MrGrantofRangeley,theoriginatoroftheideaof"Children'sParade",hadthanked meafewdaysearlierforhavingkeptthwweatherniceoverRangeleyonJuly14, 1953.HehadalsoreadaclippingfromtheBangorDailyNewsabouttheEllsworth OROPsuccess. ItoldMrGrantbyphone,andconfirmedbyletter,thefollowing: (1)TheattempttokeepSunday,August6,1953freeofrainwastoberegardedonly asanotherexperimentinweathercontrol,notasanobligation. (2)Anymysticalexpectationswouldbedangerousandshouldbekeptout. (3)Itwouldbethefirstattemptatpreventingrainfromfallingataspecificdateina specificregion. (4)OrgononwilltrytokeepSunday,August9freefromrain. (5)Rainwillbefallingaftertheparadeisover,ifpossibleSundayduringthenight. ThedaybeforetheChildren'sParadewastotakeplace,theweatherdidnotlook promisingatall.ThewindcameasabreezefromtheE,inourregionacertain indicationofrainfall.Theclouds,too,looked"rainy".Itwas,atfirst,notquiteclearhow tocounteractthetendencytorain.Theideacamenaturallytocounteractbydrawing fromtheW.ThiscouldpossiblyreversetheEtoWflow.Also,itwouldappear reasonabletoclearthezenithoftheregionbybrief,onetotwominuteclearingdraws, ashadbeendonethepreviouswintertodispersefog. Prolongeddrawingwastobeavoided,sincedrawingover4to5minuteswould

certainly,accordingtoformerexperiences,resultinheavyrain.ThemainOROPto cleartheskyoverOrgonon,however,shouldbeperformedonSundaymorning,the dayofthepannedparade. At7:30onSunday,theskieslookedbad,heavilycloudedover.Ibegantoclearthe sky.At10:30amtheskyoverOrgononwasstillovercast.However,at11:15thesky wasclearofcloudswiththesunshining. This,however,wasonlyapartofthejobtobedone.Thenexttaskwastokeepthe regionofthezenithfromcloudingoveragain.Thistaskwasthemoredifficulttofulfill, sincethecloudscameinstronglyfromthewesternhorizon.Also,theypartedwhile approachingOrgononandclosedranksagainatSaddlebackMountaintotheEof Rangeley.TheproblemwashowtothecloudspartingtotheWofRangeleyandthe skyclearuntillateafternoon. Itriedtoaccomplishthisintwoways: (1)Byintermittent,briefdrawsofoneortwominuteseachwhenevertheclouds overheadshowedthetendencytocloseinovertheregion. (2)Bykeepingonlyonedrawpipeopenforoneortwominutes,verycautiouslyonlyin smallsteps,pointingwestward,some15degreesabovehorizon.Thismethodwas new,nevertriedbefore.ItpromisedandfulfilledthetaskofdrawingoffjustenoughOR energyfromtheoncomingcloudstokeeptheminastateofdissipation,without howeverriskingrainfall.FromthissecondmethodgrewaspecialbranchofOROP Desert:ContinuousdrawingoffofDORwithouttheriskingofrain. ThesuccessofOROPChildren'sparadewasperfect.At5:35pm,theparadeswere over,NotasingledropofrainfellovertheRangeleyregion.Thiswasthemore astounding,sinceithadrained,asIlearnedmuchlater,allaroundOrgononand Rangeleythatafternoon.IhadkeptupOROPNoRainallthroughtheparade.Whenit wasover,Idrewforrain.ReversingthedirectionofthedrawtoEtoW,Idrewfirst10 minutesandthenagain20minutestoenhancethealreadyexistingtendencytoward rainwhichhadbeeninterruptedbyOROPNoRain. Now,anEwindwasblowingasitshould,butat9pmtherestillwasnorainoverthe region.Finally,itrainedgentlyandrichlyduringthefollowingnight.MyProtocolofthe

Dayfinishedwiththesewords:"Howmuchhumility,notfakehumility,isrequiredto accomplishsuchthingsasOROPChildren'sParade" MrGrantthankedmesometimelaterwithdeepemotionwhenhemetmeintown.He hadalsomentionedtheholdingoffoftherainasathingtobethankedtothepowersof heaven.Ifullyagreedwithhim,feelingonlyastheexecutorofthecosmicORenergy, andnotatallasapowerfulrainmakerorstopper. LessonsderivedfromOROPRangeleyofAugust89,1953: (1)Itispossibletopreventtheformationofcloudsandthefallingofrain. (2)Itispossibletodirectthedriftofcloudsinadesireddirection. (3)Itispossibletopreventrainandtodissipateraincloudsbydrawingfromthe directionoftheoncomingclouds. (4)BriefwithdrawalsofORenergyfromheavycloudslowerthepotentialdifferencesin thecloudyskiesandthusequalizedistributionofatmosphericORenergy.This counteractsthetendencyforrainfall. (5)TopreventrainonemustnotdrawfromtheregionoppositetothenormalORflow. (6)Putupa"barrier"totheoncomingcloudbanksome2to4milesaheadoftheplace whichshouldbekeptrainfree. (7)UsetheOR"Aftereffect"(thetendencyoftheORenergytomaintain spontaneouslyacertainartificiallyinducedstatus).Thisisafact,asyetunexplainable. OranurWeatherControlhadgainedanotherimportantstretchoftechnicalskills.Itwas soontobetestedonalargerscale.

ChapterIX OROPBoston(September2,1953)

OROP"Children'sParade"hadnotonlyincreasedourknowledgeofCosmic Engineering,Ithadalsoincreasedtheconflictandpressureregardingwhatcouldbe donetohelpasufferingnation. ThedayIhadtriedsuccessfullytokeeprainoutfromtheRangeleyregion,Ispoketo ouroperatoratOrgonon,MrRoss.Heconfessedtohavebeengreatlyimpressedby thesenseofpowerexperiencedinsuchoperationsatfogliftingorrainstopping.Itold him:theworstenemyofOranurWeatherControloperationswouldbesuchfeelingsof power.TheCOREoperator,Iexplainedagain,iscomparabletothesteamengineer whodirectsthespeedoftheflowofsteamwithasinglelever.Heis,however,notthe forceitselfthatdrivesthetrain.Heisonlyitstrustee.Andtrusteesmustbefully consciousoftheirresponsibilities,neverforgettingwhatpowerfulforcesareentrusted totheircare.ToeliminatefromthesceneofCOREoperationseasyinflationof chronicallydeflatedegos,seemednolessimportantthantheseoperations themselves. Ifeltclearlythegreatpowerinmyhandsduringtheseoperations:however,having becomeusedfor3decadestohandlehighlyresponsiblemedical,psychiatricand educationalmatters,Ididnotbecomepowerdrunk. BostonOROPwasexecutedfromOrgonon,some250milestotheNofBoston.This wasthefirstOROPweathercontrolevertobeexecutedatlongrange.Itwashighly successfulinbreakingthesevereAugustdroughtwhichhadharassedtheeastCoast andthebigcitiesoftheNortheast.Butitalsowentslightlyoutofcontrolandcaused somedamage,thoughnoliveswerelost.Theselosseswereonlyafractionofthecost sufferedformcontinueddrought. LetussurveythesituationonSeptember1,1953.:TheNewYorkHeraldtribune reportedthe7thdayofasevere"sizzler"with97degreesandwithnoreliefinsight. Thereportdidnotmention,sinceitknewnothingaboutit,theDOReffectoverNew York.AccordingtotheNewYorkTimes,twiceasmanypeoplediedduringthesefew daysthanwas"normal".Thisaddedtothewaveringofmydecisiontostandfirmona "scientificproof"ofOranurWeatherControl. TherewasmuchDOR,butlittledroughtinourregionofMaine.Istillhadhopedthat thegreatdifferencebetweenthedroughtsituationinnorthernMaine,asfrequently

pointedoutbyBostonRadio,andtherestoftheeasternUSAwouldmobilizesome actiononthepartoftheresponsiblerepresentativeofagriculture.Nothinghappened. ThemanymessagessenttovariousplacesbytheOrgoneInstitute,suchasfire wardens,townclerks,etc.,remainedunanswered.OnlymuchlaterdidIunderstand thissilence.Butatthemomentofthemostacutedroughtinhistorythesilencewas unbearable. Ishalllatermentionafewoftheobjectionsraisedagainstourresultsonthepartofthe WeatherBureauofficials.Theobjectionsthemselvesforcedanunimpeachable, foolproofanswer.Thesilenceinducedmetomakemyselfheardinamanner, impossibletoevadeanylonger.Millionsofchildren,starvingfromdrought,werenow moreimportantthatpoliteconsiderations. ThefollowingtelegramwassenttoMrIvanTannehillattheWeatherBureauin WashingtonDConSeptember2,1953: "Wearetryinghardtoturnclouddriftpresentwithsmallshowersandheavydewin OrgononareaSWtowardbigcities.Doubtfulofsuccessduetosmallnumberof Cloudbusters.DrawinginhumidityEtoWfromOceanshouldpossiblybreaksevere droughtinyourarea." OROPBostonwentunderwayat10amonSeptember2andwascarriedonuntil12 noonthatsameday.Threecloudbusterswereputintooperationsimultaneously:one onthehillattheObservatory,oneattheStudents'laboratory,andoneonatrucknear thelake.Theywerelocatedsome800to1000feetapart.Thedrawingoperationwas executedwithallpipesinallthreecloudbusterspulledouttofulllength.Thedirection ofthedrawwasfromNtoslightlyNEtowardBostontotheSandslightlySW.My impressionwasthatthreecloudbusterscouldnottriggerenoughORenergy,sufficient tocauserainatsuchadistanceinBoston.Iwaswrong:threecloudbustersprovedto beatleastonetoomany. TheBostonstormonSeptember2hadcomefullyunexpectedbyanyonenthe WeatherBureau.Itsatisfiedthescientificquestionastowhetherarainstormcan appear"asiffromnowhere".Thequestionremainedopen,however,howitwas possiblethatthestormhadhitBostonproper,andnotsomefreecountrysideinthe vicinityofBoston.ItwaspossibletoassumethatthehighDORconcentration,the samewhichhadcausedtheseveredrought,wasalsothecausefortheattractionand concentrationofthemoisturewhichcamefromtheocean.Whatthedrawingoperation atOrgononhadactuallydone,wasnomorethanlowerthepotentialtotheNNEof Boston.ButneithertheORpotentialatBoston,northedrawinginofmoisturefromthe oceantowardBostonwasadirectresultoftheoperationatOrgonon,nomatterhow manycloudbustershadbeenputtouse. ThestormofBostonappearedtobethedirectresultoftheincreaseofanalready high,butstalematedORpotential.Theslightshiftinlevelaswellasinmobilityshould havebeensufficienttorevivetheactivitiesoftheatmosphereoverBoston,withthe resultofthemovementofmoistureandairinlandfromtheAtlanticOcean.Thisfollows clearlyfrommanysimilarORfunctions,betheybiologicalorpurelyphysicalinnature. OnceanORenergysituationbecomesmobilized,italsogoesstale.Thenormal naturalORactivitiesceasetooperate.Desert,whetherinthesol,inthemind,orinthe wildernessistheinevitableresultofimmobilityofORenergy. Theremedyfollowslogicallyfromthispremise:Thestalematedsituationcanonlybe changedbygettingmovement,inotherwords,anenergyshift,beiteversoslight,into thestaleregion.Anditwasthat,Ibelieve,whichbrokethedroughtontheSeptember 2inNewEnglandasaconsequenceofOROPBostonperformedatOrgonon,250 milestothenorth. IhadpredictedtheresultinBostonwithsomereservations.Acopyofthetelegram wenttotheweatherforecasterinBoston,"Weatherbee",inordertosatisfyoneofhis formalrequeststocreaterainwithoutanyweatherfrontsannouncedanywhere. ThedroughtbrokeunpredictedbytheWeatherBureau,atabout2pmatBoston, accordingtoradioreports.RainreachedthenorthernfringeofNewYorkCitythe

sameevening.Theradioreportedthattheairhadcooledoffto70degrees,butit complainedabout"toolittlerain".Thesameday,at1:30pm,shortlybeforethestorm, Bostonradiohadreported103,NewYork99,andChicago100degreesF.Itisnot knownhowfarthereliefstretchedtotheNW.ButtheskyatthecoastnearBarHarbor wasreportedovercastonSeptember3,andtherehadbeenafinesprayofabriefrain. TheWeatherBureau,naturally,judgingfromitusualdailyreports,hadpredicted continueddroughtthatsamemorning,September2withnoreliefinsightbefore September6or7.IthadalsopredictedcoolairtocomeinfromCanada.Inreality, Canada(Montreal)reportedheatinthe90sstillonSeptember4,whileBostonand NewYorkhadcooledofftoabout70degrees.BostonRadioWBZkeptcontactwith theOrgoneInstitutethrough"Weatherbee". TheOrgoneInstituteisnotequippedtochartorpredictweather.Ithasitshandsfill withkeepingthemainlineinORenergyresearchclear.NooneattheOrgoneInstitute claimstobeaprofessionalrainmaker,ortoknowmuchaboutthecirculationof"cold" and"warm"airmasseswhichallegedlydetermineweatherformation.Noorgonomic researchscientistcouldpassatestinmeteorology.Yet,thefollowingsurveywill demonstratethetruerelationshipbetweenbasicnaturalresearchandroutine technologicalprocedures. NooneenjoyedthemanymistakestheofficialWeatherBureaumadeduringthose crucialsummermonths,whenOROPDesertwasbeingborn.Thesharpcontradictions andincongruitieswhichharassedtheUSweathermanduring1953weretheresult, basically,ofhisreluctancetotouchuponandtodealforcefullywiththecosmicforces whichrulehisaircurrents.Anotherreproach,if"reproach"wereinplaceatthis moment,isthattheweatherofficialswerealsoreluctanttosearchforthecausesof theirrepeatederring.Tofindandtocorrectone'serrors,however,appearstobethe firstrankrequirementofscientificexistence. Butourstorydoesnotendhere,byanymeans.Ithas,asamatteroffact,noteven reallybegunyet.Itbeginstobeseriousinamuchbroaderanddeepersense,on October22,1953: LetusfirstsummarizethebasicfoundationsofOranurWeatherControltothispoint. Wehavelearnedandcouldestablishonfirmground:

(1)Cloudscanbedestroyedorcreated,diminishedorincreased,bywayofchanging theORpotentialoftheatmosphericORenergy. (2)Raincanbeproducedbywayofincreasingcloudsandmakingthemcoalesce. (3)Moisturecanbedrawnfromoceanstowarddrycontinents. (4)Itwillbepossibletodirectclouddriftsatwill. (5)Stormscanbeproducedoverdistantregionsbyusingtherelativeinterconnections betweendirectionofDraw,highexistentpotentials,andsourcesofmoisture(ocean). (6)Droughtcanbebrokenatwillbyasuitablecombinationofthesethreefunctions. (7)Itismuchhardertobreakdroughtinlandthannearanocean. (8)Itiseasiertopreventdroughtthantobreakit. (9)Combatingdesertdevelopmentpromisestobesuccessful;technologicalmeans andtoolsneedperfection. (10)ThereisnoendtothepossibilitiesinCosmicOrgoneEngineering. (11)TheresponsibilityrestsquarelyontheshouldersoftheOrgoneInstituteandon thegovernmentsoftheearth. Equippedwiththesefacts,weshallnowapproachOROPGalacticORStream. TheNewYorkHeraldTribunewroteanarticleabout"TheBrutalDrought"onOctober 18,1953.ThedroughtsituationcontinuedtobedesperateintheUSA,withthe exceptionoftheveryfewbreakswhichwereaccomplishedartificiallyinthe northeasternUSA.

"OneadditionalfactorwhichmayhavehadabearingonthisOROPisthefactthatat6 amMonday,October5,IdrewfromthehorizontotheNfor15minutes.Ididthis becauseofthefollowing:At5amtheskywascoveredbyathickcloudbankwiththe exceptionofasmallareaalongthehorizontotheNandNW.Heretheedgeofthe cloudbankwasverydistinctwithclearskybeyond.Thiscloudbankhadcoveredthe skysincethepreviousafternoon.ThewindwasfromtheNE.Thecloudbankwas movingEandtheclearareawasgraduallygettinglarger.Aftermuchhesitation,Idrew fromthisclearareatowardsthehorizonfromtheNfor15minutes.Mypurposewasto decreasethepotentialinthiscleararea,thusincreasingthepotentialintheareaofthe cloudbankupontheassumptionthatthecloudbankwouldgrowheavierandperhaps haltitsdrifttotheE.Icommittedamistakehere.Myerrorwasinnotconsideringthe operationasawhole,inthinkingonlyofthetemporarygrowthofthecloudbankandin notconsideringthedirectionalfactor.Thedrawingitselfmayhavebeenhelpful

October24.Therich"MindoSpring"haddriedupcompletely Then,onOctober24,twodaysafterOROPHancock,Idrewforrainfrom2pmto2:30 pm,againNEtowardSW,withtheintentiontobreakthedroughtatOrgonon.I succeeded.At3amonOctober25,astrongeastwindstartedblowing.Therewas soonacompleteovercastofheavyrainclouds.Butitdidnotrain.Sunbrokethrough againinthemorningofthe25th.At11amthereweresunanddroughtyclouds,buta 4:30pmheavycloudbanksweredrivinginfromtheE,obviouslydelayedandrelated theEtoWofOctober22,withheavyrainslastingformanyhours,rainingheavilyat 9:30pmOctober25.ItcontinuedtorainheavilyOctober2618.OnOctober29,it rainedalloverNewEngland.ThedirectionoftherainwascontinuouslyNEtoSW. TheNEtoSWdirectionhadprovedmorepowerfulthantheEtoWdirectionof drawing. Thewellsfilledineverywhere;farmersnolongerhadtocarrywaterinpailsfromthe lakestotheirherds.Onemeteorologist,accordingtoonereport,calledtherain "unethical",goingtowardNEwithwindsblowing,accordingtotheORoperation,from NEtoE.Suchbehavioroftheelementsmusthaveimpressedanyoneusedtoorderly conductas"ethical",whiletheorgonomicworkerwassatisfiedtobeableto comprehendsuchbehavior: (1)ThewindblewfromNEandEinaccordancewiththedirectionofthedraw,evento theextentofaprevalenceoftheNEoverEdirection. (2)TheORoperationhadbeendirectedagainstthedirectionoftheGalacticOR energystream.Highpotentialhad,accordingtotheorgonomiclaw,tobuildupinthe SWofthedraw.Thiswasthecase,beginningwiththerainatBarHarbortotheSWof Hancock. (3)However,thiswasnotunexpected:Onerainstormcenterbuiltupafteranotherina chainlikeorrelaylikefashionalongthecoasttowardNewYorkandPhiladelphia.The precedingchartpresentsthisbeautifullylawfulbehaviorofthesequenceoftheOR energypotentials.Thestormcenterssucceedeachanother.BeginningtotheNE,one afteranotheroftherelayedcenterspouredouttheirraininunisonwiththewind directionandagainstthedirectionofthegalacticORenergystream.

IfalongrulerisplacedonamapoftheUnitedStates,connectingtheGulfofMexico attheTexascoastwiththecentrallineofMaine,anangleofinclinationtowardthe equatoriallieofapproximately62degreesisobtained.Sixtytwodegrees,however,is theexactpositionoftheGalacticPlaneinrelationtotheequator(Seediscussionof thisfactinCosmicSuperimposition,p.88).Thisisalsothebasicdirectionfollowedby hurricanesontheirveeringofftowardthetypicalNEcourse.Itis,furthermore,inits beginningtheregionofmosttornadosandfloods. Thecharton"PrecipitationinMidJanuary"showsclearly,officiallyobtained,an unusualincreaseofrainfallabovenormalnearlyparalleltothecourseoftheeastern

seaboard;paralleltotheextentofabigbendeastwardattheNorthCarolinacoast. Thechartshows,furthermore,rainfallbelownormalintheregionofthewesterndesert land,betweenregionswithaboveandnearnormalprecipitation.Thissoundslawful;it cannotbemerecoincidence.Thechartfollowsnearlyexactlythedroughtsituation duringthelaterpartof1953,withrainfallattheEastcoast,northeasternpart,anda gradient,asitwere,indrynesstowardtheSW. TheextensionoftheregionwithabovenormalrainfalltowardtheSEfallseasilyinto placewiththeprocedureoftherainfallontheloneoftheGalacticStreamtowardthe SW.Thechainreactioncouldeasilyjusthavecontinuedsouthwestward.Thedetailed interrelationshipofthetwochartsis,ofcourse,unclear,butasaguidinglineforfurther studiesitservesitpurposewell. OranurWeatherControlwillhavetofollowsuchinterconnectionsas:(a)Themain currentsoftheatmosphericORenergystreams,(b)thebasicdirectionsofOranur WeatherOperations,and(c)designedorunexpectedchangesintheformationof weatherandclimateinconsequenceoftheengineeringoftheORenvelopeofthe planet. Wemustalsotakecognizanceofthefactthattherangethroughchainreactionofthe cloudbustingoperationsisratherlarge,manyhundredsofmiles. Thislastcircumstancegivesrisetoseriousthoughtaboutpossibledamagewhich couldbeinflicteduponanunsuspectingpopulationifadequateregulationofOranur WeatherControlOperationswouldnotgointoeffectsoonandbeefficientlyfollowed bysocialadministrationandpopulationalike. (2)SpaceShips&SpaceProblems~ OperationGalacticORStreamhaddemonstratedthetremendouspowerofasingle cloudbuster,broughtintoactiononthebasisoftheknowledgeoftheCosmicOR Energystreams.Itwasimmediatelyclearwhatthiswouldmeaninthehandsofsick men.Therefore,thelegislativeproceduresoftheEisenhoweradministrationwhich tendedtosecuresafetyinweathercontrolweregreatlyappreciated. Thisoperationhadalsoclearlyshownwherefurtherexperimentationwouldlead.In ordertomaketheCosmicfunctionclearwhichareentailedinOROPDesert,agreat

amountofexperimentalanddeductiveevidencewouldhavetobepresented,atask whichhastoawaititspropersettingforitssettlement.Itshouldonlybeindicated briefly: WeatherControlonthebasisofOranurleadsintocosmicfunctioningbeyondtheearth globe.Inotherwords,interplanetaryandintracosmicconnectioninthebroadestsense areinvolved. Thisbringsusbacktothestartingpointsofthisreport:theproblemofspaceshipsand spaceproblems. Itisimpossibletotellinafewpagesthewholestoryoforgonomicresearchinthe realmofcosmicfunctioning.Instead,IshalltellhowIbecameinterestedinthe"Flying Saucer"problem. comprehensionofthecosmicprimordialenergy. Thecrucialimportanceofthesubjectfortheunderstandingof"VisitorsfromOuter Space"mayexcusemybluntlanguage. Thus,Iwaitedmanyyearsforfurtherfactualdevelopments.Thesedevelopments begantoshowupwhen,afterapauseofthreeyears(19441947),Istartedmywork onvacua("Vacor")asdescribedintheOranurExperiment.TheORenergymotor,too, wasthenintheprocessofbeingworkedout.Itwaspublishedinthefirstnumberofthe OEBin1949. Iknewoftheexistenceofa"saucer"problemaround1950.ButIhadneverpaidmuch attentiontoit.Theideaofvisitorsfromouterspacedidnotatallseemstrangetome. WhyshouldonlytheEarthbeinhabitedbyintelligentbeings?Therewasnoreason whatevertoassumesuchathing,exceptbecauseofone'svanityasahomodivinusor sapiens;solipsismonthepartofmanwastoowellknownfromthephantasticcruelties ofanage,only400500yearsago,whichthoughttheworldtobeflatandalsotobe thecenterofthewholeuniverse,withmanasitsfocalpointofdivineattention. Thefactofspaceshipscomingdowntoearthwasthereforenothingnew.Ihadheard aboutitontheradioattimes.Butitwasneverinthecenterofmyattention.This,in spiteofthefactthatfriendshadtoldmeofsaucershavingbeenseennearOrgononin 1951.Evenwhen,inAugust1952,whenstandingonthefrontporchofmysummer houseatOrgonon,Iheardsomethingbuzzfromhorizontohorizon,SWtoNEwithina fewseconds,Ipaidlittleattentiontoit. DisclosuresregardingtheFlyingSaucers,suchasnoiseless,bluishshimmeringlights, rotatingdiscs,underlyingtheirmotion,fellintoplacewithsomeofthefactsIknewwell

fromcosmicORenergyfunctioning:functionssuchassilentoperationwhichIhad experiencedwhentheORmotorhadbeenworkedonin19471948,ortheblue luminationin0.5micronpressurevacuumtubes.Theoldorgonometricfunctionscame back,onebyone,especiallythosewhichdealtwiththegravitationalequation:

Thefactsconfirmingtheseabstractionsseemedtobeathandnow,inastrangely practicalmanner.Thingstiedinfurther.Functionafterfunctioncoordinateditselfwith whatIhadreadaboutthe"unidentifiedobjects".Thefinalpictureasoftodayisabout this: (1)TheCOREMen"(CORE=CosmicOrgoneEngineering)asIcametocallthem, apparentlywerethoroughlyconversantwiththelawsoffunctioninginthecosmicOR energyocean,especiallywithgravityasafunctionofsuperimposition. (2)TheyusecosmicORenergyinpropellingtheirmachines. (3)Their"bluelights"wereinagreementwiththebluecolorcharacteristicofallvisible ORfunctions,sky,protoplasm,aurora,sunspots,depthofmoonvalleyseenatdusk, thecolorofORenergyluminationinvacortubes,etc. (4)Thechangesofcolorfrombluetowhiteorred,etc.,In=knewwellfromvarious studiesofORphenomenaandIhadseensomepracticallyinvacortubes. (5)TheCOREmenwereobviouslyridingtheirspaceshipsonthemainORenergy streamsoftheUniverse(SeeCosmicSuperimpositionon"GalacticandEquatorial Streams").
