EDINBURGH TRAM PROJECT - FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

Thank you for your letter of 10 November 2011 relating to an article in the Edinburgh Evening News that day. The article was based upon a response by the Council to a Freedom of Information request. That response was factually inaccurate in some material respects. An apology was immediately issued together with a corrected response. Subsequent Council press releases have confirmed this. In the circumstances, I do not consider it necessary to launch an investigation in response to that article as appropriate and detailed remedial work has been undertaken and new measures put in place to deal with FOI requests. You will appreciate that we are presently in the process of collating and examining a vast quantity of data held by tie, TEL and the Council in relation to the tram project so that we are in a position to assist with any future public inquiry. In the meantime, I can assure you that all information being ingathered will be protected and secured. Yours sincerely
