Press Release

For immediate release

12-14-11 Recently, a series of residential burglaries have occurred throughout various residential neighborhoods located in the Town of Seymour. Some of the streets where houses have been burglarized include South Main St., Maple St., Skokorat St., Great Oak Ridge Way, Willow St., Bellevue Terr., Great Hill Rd., North Benham Rd., Falcon Dr., and Bungay Rd. The burglaries have mostly occurred during the day time hours when the homeowners have been absent from their properties. Several items of value have been stolen from each of these burglaries. However, in most cases the perpetrator(s) have shown an interest in various types of jewelry due to the high price of precious metals. In other instances electronic items as well as cash have also been taken. The Seymour Police Department has increased patrols and has activated other measures necessary to assist in the prevention and hopefully the apprehension of the persons responsible for committing these criminal acts. In addition, the Seymour Police Department is asking all residents to be extremely vigilant in their neighborhoods and immediately report to the Seymour Police any and all suspicious activity such as people or vehicles that they are not normally accustomed to seeing in their surrounding areas. Furthermore, it is being suggested at this time that residents take precautionary measures and secure all valuable items in their households to the best of their abilities, especially valuable jewelry. Residents should activate their burglar alarms if their house is equipped with an alarm system prior to leaving their house. Neighbors should also be good neighbors and therefore should watch out for each other. If anyone has any information about any burglaries or if they observe suspicious activity they should immediately call the Seymour Police Department at 203-881-7600 or 911 if it is an emergency situation. Respectfully, Lt. Paul Satkowski Seymour Police Department
