RunFest Cyberjaya 2012

RunFest is a running movement with a difference. Its an exclusive road running event that is open to all runners especially newbie runners. It isnt just about individuals crossing the finish line in the shortest possible time. Seasoned runners help newbies across the finish line. Newbies get infected by the passion shown by fellow tribe members. Friends and family fuel runners with cups of water along the way. It is about discovering what is truly important to us through our respective tribes. These tribes will be reminiscent and loosely based on the sports houses we had in our school days. Initially, RunFest will be made up of 4 Tribes. This exclusive running event will be opened to 1,000 participants as a start. That means a total of 250 members per Tribe. As RunFest grows, more will be invited to join in. Its an open day for everyone, including participants, their family and friends, as well the curious. There will be a mini carnival with performances, F&B, buskers, games, music; charity drives you name it and it might just be there. While we may all belong in different tribes, were all in this together. Were celebrating the art of running and making it a lot of fun. Its more than just running!

Why Tribes?
In the beginning, we ran simply to survive. Then we formed tribes to grow, conquer and advance. Today, we are burdened by the pressures of modern life. Today, our faces are buried in screens, large and small. We may think were social, but were not. We need to rediscover our civilisation. We need to get together. For real real. To run for ourselves. To run for others.

Yes, it is fun & games at RunFest Cyberjaya 2012. But were also initiating an independent community project donation drive aiming to collect gently used running shoes for the ation gently-used underprivileged. 6

As a start, under Projek Kasut, shoes that are collected at RunFest Cyberjaya 2012 will be donated to the Trainees of Monfort Youth Training Centre in Kinarut, Sabah. Trainees at MYTC are made of about 140 youths between the ages of 16 to 20. The donated running shoes will be used to support the schools extracurricular activities scheme. Its our small contribution towards building the rural communities in Malaysia.

Conclusion
RunFest Cyberjaya 2012 has the potential of bringing great value to the Cyberjaya from a branding perspective. Its young. Its unique. Formulated by avid runners for other running enthusiasts, the concept of RunFest will enable it to stand out from other running events done on a similar scale. In the words of one of our partners, RunFest is like Urbanscapes, only healthier. We envision RunFest to be a long term initiative, and not just a one off race. Tribe members will continuously grow and shape the identity of their respective tribes, building more affinity with the race and the brands attached to it as well. While we may all belong in different tribes, were all in this together.
