Donnybrook Bicycle Registration Scheme

The Donnybrook Bicycle Registration Scheme is a pilot scheme implemented by An Garda Siochana. It allows bicycle owners to register their bicycles in a number of different ways. The details of the owner and the bicycle are recorded on the Pulse computer system. They can be retrieved if a bicycle is lost or stolen at a later date. Hundreds of unidentifiable recovered bicycles are sold at auction by An Garda Siochana each year. The bicycles serial number is the main means identification that will be used in this scheme. Bicycles can be registered in the following ways 1. When purchasing a bicycle from a bicycle shop in the Donnybrook or Irishtown Police Districts. 2. By completing a registration form and returning it to the designated person in your workplace. 3. By bringing your bicycle to Donnybrook or Irishtown Garda Station to register it. When completing the registration form yourself you should take note of the following. The form should be completed in block capitals. Most serial numbers are located at the base of the bicycle where the two pedals meet. Many new Bicycles will have a metallic sticker at the base of the frame which will restate the serial number. Cleaning the number with a damp cloth will avoid mixing up letters like V,Y and W also O and Q and Finally C and G When writing the number zero a diagonal line should be drawn through it to differentiate it from the letter O

The accuracy of the information you supply will govern whether it can be returned to you if it comes into the possession of An Garda Siochana.
