COURSE OB1ECTIVE:
To develop basic projection concepts with reIerence to points, lines, planes and
geometrical solids. Also to develop sketching and draIting skills to Iacilitate
communication.

COURSE OUTLINE:
1. Introduction and Drawing Instruments 4 hours]
1.1 Introduction to Engineering Drawing, Artistic Drawing, etc.
1.2 Description oI drawing instruments, auxiliary equipment and drawing materials.
1.3 Techniques oI Instrument Drawing: Pencil sharpening, securing paper, proper use
oI T-squares, triangles, scales, dividers, compasses, erasing shields, French
curves, inking pens.
1.4 Drawing Sheet layout and Title Block
1.5 Use oI Scales: measurement units, reducing and enlarging scales
1.6 Types oI Lines
1.7 Technical Lettering: Lettering strokes, letter proportions, uniIormity and
appearance oI letters, Ireehand techniques, inclined and vertical letters, numerals
and Iractions, upper and lower cases, standard English lettering Iorms.

2. Plane Geometrical Construction 4 hours]
2.1 Bisecting and trisecting lines and angles, proportional divisions oI lines and
angles, construction oI angles, triangles, squares, polygons.
2.2 Construction using tangents and circular arcs.
2.3 Methods Ior drawing standard curves such as ellipses, parabolas, hyperbolas,
involutes, spirals, cycloids, and helices.
