Today I went to interview my pastor, Reverend Albert M. James. He is Senior Pastor at Second Providence Baptist Church in North Augusta. I wanted to interview him because he is a religious figure from my religion and I thought that that would be a good perspective to see. I begin to ask what he thinks religions purpose serves in a society. He tells me that he cannot speak for everyone, but religion in his view is held in spiritual realm of life. I understand that completely. I also ask him why people tend to be hooked for life in a religion. He tells me that religion holds a mental truth about our existence and universe that only that specific follower of the religion can connect to. My interview with him was very informative. Afterwards, I went and took pictures of the sanctuary. I think I want to use the pictures in my portfolio, but I dont know about the video. Other questions I ask him are how has religion impacted you? And how did you become anointed to become a Pastor? He tells me important facts that help my documentary as well. I hope my clip of him is effective. One key fact my mentor told me was to not publicize my religion too much or my video would look kind of bias.
