The Promise of Jesus

As the Father has sent me, so I send You. John 20:21.

Go, then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples; baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. - Mt 28:19

Jesus fulfills His promise.

The First Pentecost Acts 2:1-11.

On Pentecost Sunday, the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles with the sound of a strong wind and as tongues of fire.

 The apostles

were filled with the Holy Spirit, who guided them in their way of truth and love.

How did the Holy Spirit help the apostles?

The Holy Spirit helped them, protected them and gave them the strength to suffer with Him and to fulfill their mission on earth.

On Pentecost Sunday, the Holy Spirit also helped the first believers.

It was 50 days after Easter. It was another great feast day at Jerusalem, and many people had come to the city.

Read Acts 2:14-15, 2224, 36-41.

Peter then explained to them what has happened. What makes them new men was that the Holy Spirit has been given to them.

Those who listened to them were deeply moved by their words. They were struck with the deep conviction of the Apostles.

Those who believed became the first Christians. They were about 3,000.

Day after day their number increased. They formed a large new family. It was the beginning of the Church.

 When do we

receive the Holy Spirit today ?

On the day of our Baptism, the Holy Spirit comes to us, we become members if the Church, we become children of God.
