BAJAJ GROUPS OF BUSINESSES:


The Bajaj Group is one of the leading business houses of India. Its business interests span host of industries such as automobiles (two-wheelers and threewheelers), home appliances, lighting, iron and steel, insurance, travel and finance. The Bajaj brand is well-known in over a dozen countries in Europe, South America, the US and Asia. The Bajaj Group comprises 27 companies and its flagship company Bajaj Auto is ranked as the world's fourth largest two- and threewheeler manufacturer.

CORPORATE STRATEGIES AND BUSINESS STRATEGIES:

As BAJAJ group is one of the oldest group of businesses amongst the Indian companies, their strategies changed according to many factors. These factors may be adverse or beneficial to the company at different stages in various businesses.

STRATEGY OF DIVERSIFICATION:

As we know BAJAJ group is working in various countries along with India, the BAJAJ industries diversified into various businesses like motors, consumer care, electrical, finance, insurance, metals etc. Corporate level strategies always play an important role in the implementation of various strategies in the business according to the present conditions and also in relation to the future aspects of the business. Bajaj group diversified its business by expansion strategy by adopting of expansion through diversification strategy. Company also adopted the concentric diversification when the same group of customers is provided with new innovative products. For example: Bajaj autos launched various bikes to the customers with new technologies in the bike segment. Like Bajaj pulsar was launched in 2001 and it is still saleable to the customers with the new features and technology.

CONGLOMERATE STRATEGY: When an organization adopts this strategy, they are required to take up those activities which are unrelated to the existing business definition either in terms of their customer groups, customer functions or alternative technologies. Bajaj is exists in various businesses which are not same to each other.

EXPANSION THROUGH CONCENTRATION:

y PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: BAJAJ adopting this strategy which is shown by the recent example that Bajaj is going to launch its first car in the same auto market. It has recently shown in the auto expo in New Delhi.

STABILITY STRATEGY: When before 2001, Bajaj was in a scooter and auto rickshaw manufacturing; they had adopted a stability strategy of no change strategy. According to this strategy they manufactured only scooters and auto rickshaws and they didnt change the features of scooters. They manufactured scooters named as chetak. Due to this there was a problem of competition due to which Bajaj had to step in the motorcycle manufacturing.

EXPANSION THROUGH INTERNATIONALISATION:

Although Bajaj Pvt. Ltd. Is an Indian company, but its businesses existing in various countries of the world like Europe, South America, and the US etc. It means that Bajaj is operating a wide range of businesses. For example: Bajaj auto is one of the major bike manufacturing groups, also selling the bikes in the other parts of the world. Bajaj pulsar is sold throughout the various countries and it is gaining popular there due to its better performance and technology.

So these are the strategies adopted by Bajaj group at the various stages of their business. These strategies are adopted by taking into consideration the various factors. These strategies always helpful to take the business of this group to new heights.
