BROOKS HISTORY

The 2011 Brooks PR Spike Contest racked up some crazy fast times. Stay tuned to nd out the new names of our PR collection spikes and in the meantime, its time to get geared up for another battle of the best.

CONTEST
Brooks and Flotrack.org are once again hosting a contest for high school athletes to name these spiked wonders after YOUR best time! Athletes will compete all spring for the fastest times in 100m, 800m and 1600m in each spike. The fastest time that reigns in the end will be the name we give the shoes. For example, if you run a 4:08 in the mile while wearing the PR LD and your time beat everyone else, well change the name to PR 4:08. How cool is that? [ I N S P I R AT I O N ] One story about Amy Pitzel that truly inspired us was her ability to rally and comfort her team after a devastating experience. In the words of one of her former athletes, Coach P coached our team through the most trying and inspirational season Ive ever experienced. Three weeks before our district race, a team member collapsed and died at a morning practice due to a hereditary heart defect. Devastated, scared, and shocked, our team spent the rest of the day trying to get ourselves together enough to get back to class. In the following weeks, Coach P truly stepped up to bring the team together. She worked with the administration to ensure that we could all attend the funeral that was held during a school day. She organized a community wide memorial service at the trackover 300 people attended and walked the memorial lap. She made t-shirts for the team in his memoryI still have mine ve years later. All these efforts truly brought our team together following such a dif cult loss. We became closer than wed ever been before, leaning on each other and our coach to nish the season in memory of a wonderful teammate.
