The deeply spiritual people of Tibet struggle for economic survival and religious freedom, following the 1951 invasion by Communist China to liberate them from the oppression of ancient Buddhist monasteries and their former leaders ~ such as the exiled Dalai Lama. Commenting on the fact that he and Pope Benedict XVI were visiting the U.S. at the same time, the Dalai Lama said they bring a common message ~

All religions carry the same message, he said: Love, compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, self-discipline and contentment.
