Then Devid show PowerPoint about : The Caste System The word caste is derived from the Portuguese casta , meaning breed, race, or kind. This term was used both by the British and the Portuguese to refer to the Indian social order. Traditionally the Indian terms used are Varna, or color, which refers to large divisions that include various castes. Jati which are the many communities that the Varnas are divided into, also known as sub castes. The Four Varnas: 1. Brahmins 2. Kshatriyas 3. Vaishyias 4. Shudras And he told about 3 Theories of Origin 1. Religious mystical theories Traced to the Purusha Sukta of the Rig Veda, a hymn which describes the origin of the universe through the sacrifice of a cosmic being called Purusha by the gods. The Laws of Manu explain: "for the sake of the prosperity of the worlds, he caused the Brahmin, the Kshatriya, the Vaishya, and the Shudra to proceed from his mouth, his arms, his thighs, and his feet....But in order to protect this universe He, the most resplendent one

Manu on the Untouchables "All those tribes in this world, which are excluded from (the community of) those born from the mouth, the arms, the thighs, and the feet (of Brahman), are called Dasyus (slaves), whether they speak the language of the Mlechchhas (barbarians) or that of the Aryans" 2. Biological theories All existing things, animated and inanimated, inherent three qualities in different apportionment. Sattva qualities include wisdom, intelligence, honesty, goodness and other positive qualities which are inherited by the Brahmins. Rajas include qualities like passion, pride, valour and other passionate qualities seen in the Kshatriyas and Vaishyias. Tamas qualities include dullness, stupidity, lack of creativity and other negative qualities said to be inherited by the Shudras. 3. Socio-historical theories According to this theory, the caste system began with the arrival of the Aryans in India around 1500 BC from south Europe and north Asia. The Aryans organized among themselves in three groups. Rajayana, later changed to Kshatriya, the warriors Brahmins, the priests. Vaishyia, farmers and craftsmen who later became the landlords and businessmen of the society as the Aryans took control over parts of north India. The locals then became the farmers and craftsmen. Between the outcasts and the three Aryan Varnas there is the Shudra Varna who are the simple workers of the society. The Shudras consisted of two communities. One community was of the locals who were subdued by the Aryans and the other were the descendants of Aryans with locals. Most of the communities that were in India before the arrival of the Aryans were integrated in the Shudra Varna or were made outcast depending on the professions of these communities. Communities who professed non-polluting jobs were integrated in Shudra Varna. And communities who professed polluting professions were made outcasts. When finished 3 theory he ask some question: What do you feel in the Theory? The asker : keep out people, control people in the society and when people do not have free down in they life so they make violence. Then he ask Mr. Julio in your country do you have a caste system ? Julio said: no but my country have a system similar the caste system and Mr. mohalidin share some definition in Philippine, in the Philippine untrue able mean: Who have so much power and very dangerous do not true him after that Devid share some story of religious finally he said every religious can use the right thing to do the bad thing.
