The Rothko-buying co-founder of Sterling Cooper is an avuncular, but stern gure at SCDP. Quit his day-to-day role after Don criticised tobacco rms in a New York Times piece.

Megan joins SCDPas the latest in a long line of Dons secretaries. Draper surprisingly proposed to her in the last episode of season four, after accompanying Don and his children on a trip to California.

(formerly Draper) Dons ex-wife went from university and modeling in Rome to raising children in the suburbs. Her unhappiness with her lot and Dons in delities nally peaked after a series of panic attacks when she found out her husband was an imposter. Left Don in season three.

Ambitious account executive Pete was a villain but, despite his aws, has slowly proved his decency, and his value to the rm. Married to the pregnant Trudy, he once told Peggy he loved her, before nding out shed given up their child.

SCDPs o ce manager. Joan left Sterling Cooper to become a housewife but returned when the new rm opened. Rekindled an a air with Roger in her husbands absence, and was last seen pregnant with his child.

The Drapers eldest child. Has a di cult relationship with Betty and was sent to a therapist after being caugt masturbating at a sleepover. A burgeoning relationship with neighbour Glenn Bishop was curtailed in season four after Betty decided to move the family to another town. Beatles fan.

Sallys teacher, and vague embodiment of early-Sixties idealism. A tender romance with Don was curtailed when Betty found out about his mysterious past. Her character was partly inspired by the Leonard Cohen song Suzanne.

The debonair Sterling inherited his stake in Sterling Cooper from his father. His main role tends to be schmoozing colleagues. And drinking. And having a airs. A couple of heart attacks havent put paid to either habit.

Department store owner who, after enlisting Sterling Cooper to promote her company, had a brief ing with Don in season one.

The man at the centre of the Mad Mens smoke- lled world. Don stole the identity of a Korean War colleague and used it to escape his impoverished beginnings to become one of Madison Avenues creative gods. Struggles with in delity, alcohol and his past have de ned his character throughout the series and, as such his smooth veneer has gradually slipped. Season fours engagement to his secretary Megan hinted at happier times to comes.

Glamorous wife/manager of comedian Jimmy Barrett, who embarked on a disastrous a air with Don after Sterling Cooper hire Jimmy to promote Utz potato chips.

Smooth account executive and perpetual rival of Pete Campbell. A career highlight was getting a short story published in The Atlantic.

SCDPs Head of Media. Formerly a slightly hapless o ce gure of fun, now leading the companys push into the big TV markets in California.

An alcoholic, Freddy was the rst to notice Peggys abilities, but got red after wetting himself before a big pitch. Returned, sober, to SCDP after holding the Ponds Cold Cream account.

Appointed by Sterling Coopers English owners to straiten the rms budgets. Lane quickly went native in season three and helped Bert, Roger and Don engineer their departure and launch a new agency.

DR FAYE MILLER

Psychologist Miller worked at SCDP as a consultant to help the rm with Hidden Persuaders-style sales techniques. Widely expected to be The One for Don but dumped when he proposed to Megan.

Closeted former art director of Sterling Cooper who was harshly, and unfairly, red by Don after rejecting the advances of Lee Garner Jr (the man behind the lucrative Lucky Strike account).

HERMAN DUCK PHILLIPS


Alcoholic former marine whose clumsy attempt at a coup dtat to remove Don from Sterling Cooper (after he engineered the rms sale to British rm Putnam, Pearl & Lowe) resulted in his own departure. Later had an a air with Peggy.

KURT AND SMITTY

A young copy/design team who made their debut in season two. The two are notably more enlightened than the rest of the Sterling Cooper crew - much to Peggys disappointment she thought the openly-gay Kurts o er to take her to see Bob Dylan is for a date.
