TOPIC: TIME Year 1

Learning Area: Introduction to Time Learning Objective Pupils will be taught to: 1. Understand and use the vocabulary related to time. Learning Outcomes Pupils will be able to: i. Say time of the day correctly. ii. Say in sequence events of the day. iii. Name the days of the week in sequence. iv. Name the month if the year in sequence. v. Read and write time to the hour.

Year 2
Learning area: reading and writing time Learning Objective Pupils will be taught to: 1. Understand, read and write the vocabulary related to time Learning Outcomes Pupils will be able to: i. Read time to five minutes. ii. Write the time to five minutes. Learning Area: Relationship between units of time Learning Obejctives Pupils will be taught to 1. Year 3
LEARNING AREA: READING AND WRITING TIME Learning Objectives Pupils will be taught to: 1. Understand, read and write the vocabulary related to time.

Learning outcomes Pupils will be able to: i. Read time to the hald or quarter hour on a clock. ii. Write the time to the half and quarter hour. iii. Read simple timetables. iv. Read calendars. Learning Area: Relationship between units of time Learning Objectives Pupils will be taught to: 1. Understand the relationship between units of time. Learning Outcomes Pupils will be able to: i. Use units of time and know the relationship between: a. minute and seconds b. week dan days c. year and months ii. Convert weeks to days and vice versa. Learning Area: Addition, Substraction, Multiplication and Division Involving Time Learning Objectives Pupils will be taught to 1. Add, substract, multiply and devide units of time. Year 4
Learning Objectives Pupils will be taught to Understand, read and write time in hours and minutes. Learning Outcomes Pupils will be able to (i) Read time in hours and minutes according to the 12-hours system. (ii) Write time in hours and minutes according to the 12-hours system. Learning Objectives Pupils will be taught to 1. Construct a simple schedule. Learning Outcomes Pupils will be able to (i) Construct, read and extract information from a simple schedule. POINTS TO NOTE Ante meridiem (a.m.) refers to the time 12:01 in the morning to 11:59 in the morning. Post meridiem (p.m.) refers to the time 12:00 noon onwards till 11:59 at night. Provide experiences of constructing time-tables involving daily activities of pupils. Learning objectives Pupils will be taught to 2. Read a calendar. Use and apply knowledge of time to find the duration Learning Outcomes Pupils will be able to (i) Read and state the start and end of an event from a schedule. (ii) Calculate the duration of an event from a schedule in o minutes, o hours, o hours and minutes within a day and two consecutive live days. (iii) Calculate the start or the end of an event from a given duration of time and read the start or end of an event.

Year 5

Learning Outcomes Pupils will be able to (i) Read and write time in the 24-hour system. (ii) Relate the time in the 24-hour system to the 12-hour system. (iii) Convert time from the 24- hour system to the 12-hour system and viceversa. Learning Area : RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN UNITS OF TIME Learning Obejctives Pupils will be taught to 2 Understand the relationship between units of time. Learning Outcomes Pupils will be able to i) Convert time in fractions and decimals of a minute to seconds. (ii) Convert time in fractions and decimals of an hour to minutes and to seconds. (iii) Convert time in fractions and decimals of a day to hours, minutes and seconds. (iv) Convert units of time from a) century to years and vice versa. b) century to decades and vice versa Learning Area : BASIC OPERATIONS INVOLVING TIME Learning objectives Pupils will be taught to 3 Add, subtract, multiply and divide units of time. Year 6
Learning Area: DURATION Learning Objectives Pupils will be taught to 1. Use and apply knowledge of time to find the duration Learning Outcomes Pupils will be able to (i) Calculate the duration of an event in between a) months b) years c) dates. (ii) Compute time period from situations expressed in fractions of duration (iii) Solve problem in real context involving computation of time duration.
