PARISH ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING

4th DECEMBER 2008 7.30 P.M.

Present: Fr. Hennessy, N. Gorham. J King, W Ablard, D Richardson, M Jones, T Doran, D Thomas,
M McDonald, B Pinto, T. Brazier, V Watts, J. Smith, J Ablard.

1. Apologies: A. Deveney.

2. Minutes of the November 2008 meeting were read and approved, with one alteration.
Point 5 (Confirmation) should read Arlene not Alan Bennet.

3. Review of actions of November meeting: Action

• Norwich Cathedral Donation of £5,000 was actioned. A thank you letter was received.
• PAC Minutes were uploaded onto the web site.
• PAC Agenda and Minutes to be put in newsletter. Fr. Hennessy
• PAC Minutes to be displayed on notice board – St. Felix. J Ablard

Quote received from Granwoods to machine sand and give three coats of D. Richardson
Sealant. Quote £3,060.04 valid until April 09 (excluding VAT).
Any tiles found to need replacing will be a further £10.50 each + VAT.
If work is completed between January to March (excluding school holidays)
a15% discount is applicable.

Floor needs to be left for 72 hrs after sealing. D. Richardson to check guarantee
Period and available dates with Stephanie O’Mahoney. It was agreed unanimously
that the work should go ahead. D. Richardson

Hall fire doors


Small amount to be removed from base of door to stop scraping on floor. D. Richardson/

Have electrics checked.


Emergency lighting defective. Fr Hennessy/P McIntee
PAT test cost £300.80. Payment of bill to be deferred until all items
are correctly labelled as having been tested. PAT Test completed –
RCB recommended at cost of 2,000. Query items tested/labelled

PRESBYTERY

Urgent problem at right front end; cracking may be indicative of


structural movement. Corresponding cracking interiorly. D. Richardson/C O’Brien

is a problem. They will investigate further.

Future of garage and fence facing road?

4. Financial Report

We have a balance of £84,000 with the Diocese. Parish account shows a balance
of £15,000 but there may be outstanding payments on this figure.

5. Confirmation

Friday 16th October is the date for Confirmation. Bishop Michael has suggested
The Holy Land as a suitable location for retreat. Other parishes
have been and it is thought the cost will be in the region of £800 per
person. Date to be in February 2010. Fr. Hennessy to arrange a talk for candidates Fr. Hennessy
World Youth Day 2010 will take place in Barcelona

6. Cambodia – The Next Step

Fr. Hennessy unable to contact Monsignor Leeming at St. Mary’s due to illness.
J. King to find out who the parish contact is so a talk can be arranged. J. King

7. Diocesan Council of Laity

Nigel Gorham reported discussions included what masses/services were held in the deanery.
It was thought that there were insufficient services of adoration and benediction due in part
to the shortage of priests. Bishop Michael strongly disapproved of Eucharistic services taking place
during the week. They have been banned in some dioceses – he will review this following
Rome’s anticipated Services of the Word. He will start his review of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan on
Boxing Day.

be checked as some information in the 2009 diary is incorrect.

page.
