Quality health care 1 Health care planning in the new era has to include policy issues that consist

of health insurance amongst other things. This has elicited a heated debate in the West concerning the famous president Obama health care reforms as discussed by insurance rates website (2012). His plan institutes measures to allow better health care access to the populace. The proposed policy changes have in the recent past become a basis for political debates in anticipation for the U.S. general elections later this year. Categories discussed are generation X (20-40 years old), baby boomers (40-60 years old) and seniors (over 65 years old). A comparison of similarities exists among the three categories. They include fertility, family planning, individual health status, provision of health care services by the nurses and health insurance. The first two categories (X and baby boomers) are the most fertile age groups. They are also the groups in need of quality family care planning which includes child health care and immunization. However, the seniors have substantial decline in respect to fertility and family planning because of the expected menopause in women and age related reproductive complications in men e.g. prostate cancer. Lack of adequate information is a challenge to the X generation concerning contraceptives and the willingness to adopt a family care plan. This is not expected of the other categories, which are willing and able to invest in individual quality health care. Individual health status where nutrition plays a leading role is similar in all categories. All persons need access to a proper and decent diet, with variations made to cater for individual needs. Food is the building blocks to the body hence the need to eat healthier. Nurses have been providing a critical role in the success of health care plan in the world and to the entire population irrespective of age in addition, to the crucial inputs by the medical doctors. Findings by Akinci, F., Krolikowksi, D., BSN, MS, RN, NHA, & CHE (2004) have indicated under shortage of nurses has negative effects on the provision of quality health care.

Quality health care 2 The X generation has poor access to health care benefits. This is because most of the age group is students, young professionals and singles who have not yet invested heavily on the matter regarding health insurance. This due to lack of proper information and expensive premiums set by companies selling insurance cover. This is the main platform where the U.S. president, Obama, proposed reforms on health care plan as discussed by insurance rates (www.insurancerates.com). However, baby boomers and the seniors have invested appropriately in health insurance, where the latter category mostly enjoying the benefits of medical cover during their working periods. It is therefore, my conclusion that the importance of quality health care amongst the generation X category should be of the highest priority among the three categories age groups. This is to ensure a better transition to the other age groups, owing to the discussed risk factors of access to information, family planning services and health care benefits exposed to X generation. Priority then follows the seniors who are at risk of age related complications hence a quality health care. Baby boomers hence have better investment habits to health insurance with supportive care focusing to maternal and child care.
