Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from

it to full product?

In this task we were asked to experiment with various different angles and shots which we could then incorporate in our final project. In this task we came up with a story line, our storyline was for a girlfriend to meet her friend, they then go to class together, the friend then goes to the toilet to then overhear the girlfriends boyfriend talking to his friends about him cheating on the girlfriend.

We used various angles in the preliminary task such as close-up, extreme close ups, dolly trolley, match on action, shot reverse shot and over the shoulder shot which is displayed below in screenshots. We have used other angles such as mid-shot, long-shot and the 180 degree rule we have used this where the Georgina walks into and waits for the lift.

In the following shows a task that my group and I conducted, this was to create an opening scene to a thriller. My group and I accomplished this and named the opening sequence I can see you, it is based on a couple that have broken up because of the boyfriend has had enough of her obsessive and controlling ways, the boyfriend then finds a new girlfriend that he truly adores and worships the ground she walks on. The ex-girlfriend becomes obsessed, perverted and therefore stalks the happy, loved up couple. In the opening scene the audience only witnesses a possible female stalking a couple via the internet, the audience then sees the female ripping and sticking up pictures of the couples.

In this task we used many camera angles, editing skills and shots. We used jump cuts, to keep the opening scene interesting and to allow a shot occur then another that happened earlier on. We used close up to allow the audience to witness what is happening for themselves, so that they can see what the stalker can see. We used mid-shots so that the audience can see what the stalker can as well as the seeing the stalkers actions themselves.

We used a fade in effect to swiftly move from one shot to the other. We used a long shot so that the audience can see the stalkers surrounding; from the long-shot as an audience we can see the pictures on the wall, pictures on the side of the bed, which allows the audience to start thinking more about whom the character plays in the scene and what their purpose/role is. We used a pan shot so that the audience is aware that the scene does not flow as to why the stalker was before pinning walls up and is now walking toward the same wall.
