Company Profile:
General Electric Manufacturing Company Limited (GEMCO) is an Government of Bangladesh Owned largest Transformer Manufacturing company in the country. GEMCO was established in 1980 and is now nearly 3 decades old company, having well established state-of-art manufacturing facilities. GEMCOs present manufacturing range extends from 5KVA to 1MVA, 11KV class. The annual capacity of plant is 375MVA per annum, followed by continuous in-house technical research with the use of best quality raw materials to comply with the latest standards like IEC. Near about 0.1 million transformers are working around the country, manufactured by GEMCO.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: (May 2006 to till date):

I have been working with General Electric Manufacturing Co Ltd from 17 May 2006. I have joined in this company as an Electrical Design Engineer. I am responsible for designing of transformers as per customer specifications. Introduced a new design of 15kVA, 33/0.24kV Transformer in GEMCO. Design of 100KVA, 200KVA & 250KVA, 11/0.415KV Mitered cut core Transformer through which there was a great achievement in reducing no load and load loss. Hands of experience gained international tender preparation, drawing detailing, product development & good knowledge in IEC Standard related to Routine and Type tests for products & service. Preparing tender support documents like guaranteed technical particular sheets and tender drawings both for Local and International tenders. Issuing / preparing bill of material (BOM) to purchase department and manufacturing data sheets and winding cards to production department. I also support testing department while conducting pre-delivery testing during customer inspections. As an Electrical Design Engineer, I am also responsible for solving the technical problems of production process. As Electrical Design Engineer in GEMCO, I worked on the following type of windings. I have worked on various specifications for transformers and package units of Siemens, Meidensha, Japan, GEC etc. I have also worked on design of 15kVA & 25KVA, 11/0.24kV, 50kVA, 11/0.415kV, 100KVA, 11/0.415KV, 200kVA, 11/0.415kV, 250KVA, 11/0.415KV, 300KVA, 11/.415KV, 500KVA, 11/0.415KV Distribution Transformer as per IEC 60076 Standard. I have also worked on design of 1250kVA, 6.6kV/0.4kV, 3-Ph, 50Hz, Dyn11 connected copper wound Distribution Transformers as per IEC60076 Standards. I have also worked on design of 2000kVA, 116kV/0.433kV, 3-Ph, 50Hz copper wound Transformers as per IEC60076 Standards. I have also worked on design of 750kVA, 3.3kV/0.44kV, 3-Ph, 50Hz copper wound Transformers as per IEC60076 Standards. Routine tests of single and Three Phase Power Transformer(33/11kV, 33/0.415kV & 11/0.415kV, 100 kVA to 5000 kVA) Such as Winding Insulation Resistance test, Power Frequency Withstand test, Induced Over Voltage test, Vector Group test, Ratio test, No Load test and Short Circuit test use by separate source power system and follow by IEC-60076 standards. Routine test Such as D.C Resistance test follow by IEC-60076 standards. Type tests such as Temperature Rise test and Impulse test use by separate source power system and follow by IEC-60076 standards. Routine test of Lighting Arrestor and Drop Out Fuse follow by IEC-99/4 & 282/2 standards respectively. Face Pre-delivery inspection with national and international Client before delivery Transformers.

Job responsibilities:
Responsible for introducing New Product Manufacturing & modification of old products as per requirements of customers. To preserve all technical documents of products & to provide necessary documents to marketing department for participation in tender & to production department for production. Responsibility to maintain and improve QMS of GEMCO. Co ordinate with Clients and Suppliers. Maintain inventory and supplies. Handle emergency work on call.
