Description

The conviction of two Kerelaw School staff members appears to be another miscarriage of justice in a major Scottish case of supposed child abuse. Now other former staff fear the police knock on the door, as potential accusers seize their opportunities. The defendants, throughout their ordeal, consistently protested their innocence but what is the reality?

Dear Mr George Williamson Your comments with regards Quarriers"there is a long history of false allegations against care workers in homes under the auspices of both religious traditions, Protestant Quarriers Homes subjected to similar treatment and resulting injustices. The resulting injustices come from individuals like yourselve who have no facts and evidence which to base your comments in relation to Quarriers. Perhaps you should highlight the tactics used by some FACT members such as John and Helen Porteous in organising a campaign against the victims which included some of there supporters engaging in the intimidation of witnesses. John Porteous an ex-employee of Quarriers was given every opportunity to prove that he was innocent including access to BBC Frontline Scotland to highlight his case. Perhaps you should ask the BBC Trust what they uncovered in there independent report and why they apologised to me. It took 4 years for us to get the BBC to recoginse there malpractices including uncovering the Frontline programme makers engaging in deception and lies in trying to portraying victims as unscrupulous liars while claiming a miscarriage of justice when none existed in law. With regards the Scottish Government, I do not think they have addressed these issues correctly to-date and that is why we are requesting a judicial process to ensure fair hearing to all victims and accused with regards "Acknowledgement and accountabilty" that they are proposing. As true victims we are as concerned about individuals making false allegations which tarnish and taint true victims in the process we also recognise the damage this causes those genuinely innocent. The interesting thing about the Scottish Government and where I may agree with you that they put up individuals who are on a National Reference group such as Helen Holland and Chris Daly two so called in-care historical abuse victims of Nazerath House as representatives of the historical abuse victims in Scotland. Yet neither one of them has been in a Court of Law and neither has their individual claims of abuse been scrutinised or validated. In fact FBGA do not recognise these individuals for those very reasons and we have other concerns including the fact they were never in Quarriers. So any claims they make concerning Quarriers are false and a misrepresentation of the issues and we will not tolerate that. I accept that there may be individuals who may make false allegation. But we are clear such individuals should face the full force of the law and be brought before the courts. But in the same token "Not all victims of alleged false allegations are innocent". It is time you represented the Quarriers issues honestly and accurately without smearing all true victims as false accusers and only in it for the money.
