>> To me, this says, Problem with ending? BUY MORE CONTENTS.
>>
The recent outrage over Mass Effect 3s vague, unsatisfying ending is justified, but rectifying it with DLC that will likely cost money would set a dangerous precedent that will definitely be repeated.
somehow back on Earth.) After playing through three games and crafting your own unique story, thats all you get. Many fans were incensed at this non-ending, leading them to start a Retake Mass Effect campaign to try and pressure BioWare and EA to give endings with better closure that doesnt more or less destroy the galaxy no matter which ending you pick. Even if the Reapers are completely destroyed and the allied forces achieve total victory, the entire military capacity of the galaxy is stuck in Earths orbit with no way to get back home. BioWare appears to be listening, to a point. A blog post by the companys co-founder, Ray Muzyka, indicates that theyve noticed how irritated the fan base is and that theyre already working on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey. On the surface, this seems like a victory for fans of the series, myself included, but I am a little suspicious about how they plan to implement it. Were supposedly going to find out more this month, but part of me wonders if they didnt have it set up this way in the first place, that they intended to release the real ending later. Theres a way for this to work within the story as
it stands - remember how I said theres one ending where Shepard survives and somehow wakes back up on Earth? Between that and the way things started to visually look in the final scene, it may have all been a dream of sorts via Reaper indoctrination. If BioWare does do something along the lines of releasing a new ending, this would be a good way to go about it, although it seems all too convenient. What worries me is if they end up releasing the real ending later as DLC, they may charge for it, which would honestly be adding insult to injury to the fan base. We already paid $60 for the full game, now are we going to have to pay $10 or $15 for the way it really ended? The very thought of it just irritates me. If thats how it turns out, then I guess Ill suck it up and deal with it, but if BioWare is going to work on a better ending (or if they had one all along), why not make it free? Make it good, of course, but let it be a patch or free DLC. If Ive got to pay more money to get the real ending, Ill do it, as will many fans, but BioWares reputation would be ruined. If theyre willing to let us have the real ending, then at least I would call it all water under the bridge. Its just the best move for them, both PR-wise and for future sales.
>> BioWare got famous for a reason, in spite of the issues with the ME3 ending. The Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights games got its name recognized, but this was the breakout hit that launched the company into stardom. SWKOR was the 2003 Game of the Year by almost universal consensus, and for good reason: a game that was extremely easy to pick up and told a story that was a great deal better than the prequel films (and so was the acting). It stood out graphically for its time and it opened up the Expanded Universe to fans who only knew Star Wars through the movies. If youve never played this, get it. Youll enjoy it.
Diablo
>>
>> Hello, my friend. Stay a while and listen. Along with WarCraft and StarCraft, this was part of the triumvirate that brought Blizzard to the forefront of gaming. This was a simple game, but refined for its time: era-defining graphics, randomly-generating dungeons and even free multiplayer, via Battle.net. In some cases, youd need multiplayer for this game, because it can get difficult at times, but it was always rewarding to try and play through the game ... provided it didnt give you nightmares. Some of those creatures were pretty terrifying to a seven year old. Diablo III is coming out next month; why not whet your appetites by trying this?

o you ever get the feeling that youre being watched? Since I was young Ive had a recurring dream. (Its not really my dream, its my friends dream, but its more convincing in the first person.) The dream goes like this: I walk into this white tent. Its 15 feet by 15 feet square, and inside theres a grass floor but the walls are white flat drywall, like a museum. To the right and left are doorways leading to other rooms. As I walk into the room, the wall Im facing holds a large portrait of Alf, the alien puppet from the 90s TV show of the same name. So I check it out and then I leave to go to another room, but as I enter that room, it is the exact same room. Even when I try to go out the
Evangelicals(one of my favorite local bands) are kind of just like that dream. Evangelicals are a mystery to me. They are something different. There is something haunting and dodgy about the band and the music, same as the Alf painting. Theres something spooky and weird and mysterious about Evangelicals; something hidden that begs to be explained. But I dont want it to be explained. Thats the intrigue and the magic. I feel comfortable in the strangeness. In conclusion, the band that I am most excited to see at Norman Music Festival 5 is Evangelicals, and I think that you should definitely check them out too. Evangelicals will be playing the Blackwatch Stage (in the alley behind Coachs), Saturday, April 28th at midnight. Check out my blog at boydstreet.com/local-music for a recent interview I conducted with Evangelicals frontman, Josh Jones.
door that I came in through, it leads me back to the same room with the grassy floors, white walls and the creepy portrait of Alf. Then I catch on to something. Im being watched. By Alf. Like an old murder mystery in a castle, the eyes turn and look at me. I have no idea who is behind the painting, if theyre smiling or laughing or if they have a blank expression, but I want to find out. So I run like mad, never escaping the room or the eyes. Until I wake up. When I was younger, it frightened me to death. I would wake up covered in sweat, heart pounding. But after years of returning to that same room, I began to get comfortable. I began to wonder who was behind the wall. SometimesI could tellthey were in a good mood. Sometimes they were anxious. Sometimes they were plotting my murder. Whoever it was never came out from behind the painting, though, and we became comfortable with each other despite that fact. Now, when I return to the Alf room (and I do still return to the Alf room regularly), it feels like an oasis: my secret place where I can go to be comfortable while I ponder the universe.

Viva La Vida!
Dear Elizabeth, With the semester winding down, Im freaking out that my boyfriend and I wont make it through the summer. Im staying in Norman for summer school and hes studying abroad in Spain. Whats the best way to make a short long-distance relationship work? Dear Shannon, If you think this guy is the one for you, you just have to have a little trust. Sure, hes going to go out and probably flirt, but if youre the one he calls, texts and e-mails, then chances are good that you guys have something that will last. I think a conversation about where the relationship is headed might have to be in your near future.
Too Soon?
- Shannon
ome things like oh, I dont know, a bad Whitney Houston joke can just come too soon. Likewise, when it comes to a relationship, the fast lane wont always get you to where you want to be. Given the time of year it is, I think it is safe to say that relationships will be sprouting up faster than the weeds in your yard. Now when I say relationships, what I really mean here is potential relationships. Like the pool, this is the time of year when people test the relationship waters. Although some love experts think this unsure testing/courting stage is a part of the natural cycle of things, I see it to be about as natural as a cow patty in a frying pan. No thank you. Ive been there and I can tell you that getting-to-knowyou stage can be so awkward it hurts. But however much I hate that stage, I must say its a necessary one - well usually. There is an exception (as always). Lately, largely due to people graduating or moving home for the summer, people that are in those beginning stages of a relationship right before graduation or whatever are being forced, faster than usual, to decide whether or not they want to take the next step with that person they are in the um-yeah-I-guess-were-dating-I-mean-wehang-out stage with. Along with bad timing, I too am blaming the economy. I mean we are not in World War II here, our men and women shouldnt have to be leaving suddenly, but they are - because they have to. One of the worst things about this economy (maybe not the absolute worst, but romantically it is) that Ive yet to hear people discuss is that couples are being forced into steps sooner than they would if the job market

hen you hear the word documentary, what comes to your mind? Does Ken Burns voice immediately start playing in your head, accompanied by epic Civil War music and photographs? Do you see image after image of some boring slideshow played in class? Is An Inconvenient Truth the only one that you can name? The days of documentaries being limited to history classrooms and intellectual settings are over. The number of documentaries that focus on entertainment rather than information as their primary focus is increasing. The face of modern media is continually changing, and documentaries are changing as well. Markets are continually growing more segmented. Audiences in general are searching for films to fit niche markets, and while studios still produce blockbusters that cross genre and artistic lines to amass tremendous box office turnouts, a great portion of the film industry is devoted to providing specific films. In some ways, documentaries provide films for a single market. Lovers of the documentary style are able to find a wide variety of subjects to provide them with entertainment. However, it is more common for documentaries to be made to serve the audience of a specific subject or interest. As films increasingly take the place of books as a common form of entertainment (though, granted, thats
another discussion in and of itself), documentaries are shifting forms to take the place of different types of literature. As one might expect, they adequately fill the role of nonfiction books. Recently, theyve begun to take the place of biography and memoir. Consider, for example, the recent documentaries made on music stars. Justin Biebers Never Say Never grossed over $73 million at the domestic box office, a number that points not only to the continuing overlap between different media, but also to the popularity of documentaries in mainstream theater. The upcoming Part of Me, which tells the story of Katy Perry, is being marketed in a similar way, telling the story of a popular music icon through mainstream theaters. By taking advantage of the popularity of these singers, filmmakers are bringing documentary film into new audiences. The term documentary is becoming more flexible. Filmmakers are using documentary as a tool to bring fresh media to audiences across different subjects, and as a tool to entertain viewers in a fresh way. Organizations are using documentary-style videos to promote their causes and products. Information and entertainment are becoming intertwined, and as the style becomes more popular directors are able to capitalize on that popularity of entertainment in order to convey their message. The growth of documentaries in form and distribution is a growing force in cinema.

o you love Tina Fey? Saturday Night Live? Comedy in general? Ever wonder what its like to create a TV show? 30 Rock combines these elements. The show follows the writers and cast behind the scenes of a live comedy sketch show, and stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. The show is currently in its sixth season on NBC, the channel that the fictional show-within-theshow is supposedly aired from. As one might expect from a show about writing a comedy show, 30 Rock is all about comedy, a little bit of satire, some ridiculousness and more comedy. Lovers of laughter will enjoy.

orman, Okla. --- The three best friends that anyone could have, Kellee Higgins, Rachelle Barteau and Kim Heussner met their freshman and sophomore years and have called The Cottages home ever since. But graduation in May is getting closer and closer, and the three seniors have begun to get ready for life after college. Part of this bittersweet farewell means packing up their things and moving out of Cottage 5042. Fortunately, the ReSTORE, the Cleveland County Habitat for Humanitys resale shop, is making this move just a little bit easier. The ReSTORE collects donated new and used building and home improvement materials, including furniture and dcor, and sells them to the public at their resale shop. The profits from these donations help support the mission of Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity to provide decent, affordable housing to qualifying local families in need. The ReSTORE also helps divert new and used building materials from landfills, so donating and buying items from the shop also helps the environment. This May, Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity is trying to make moving out even more convenient for college students. The ReSTORE will have drop-off locations May 4-8 at The Cottages, Post Oak and the Renaissance apartment complexes so students who are moving out can donate whatever furniture and dcor items they would otherwise be throwing away. All it takes to donate is to walk your things down the stairs. Donations are tax deductable and help support an organization that strives to provide homes to more than 4,300 families in Norman and Moore. We went to the ReSTORE when we first moved in to get inexpensive, nice furniture, said Higgins. Now that were leaving, it feels good to donate our things and give back to a town that has given me so much during my time here.

NORMAN are alive with the sound ofFESTIVAL 5 MUSIC music during this monumental event. The streets of downtown Norman
Between bands, make your way to the Dustbowl Arts Market, which will be located in the 100 block of West Main Street. This arts and crafts fair showcases some of Oklahomas most talented artists. Here youll find one-of-a-kind jewelry, pottery, artwork, clothing, accessories and much more. Over 40 vendors will be on hand, so youre bound to run across something to take home. While most music festivals wouldnt be appropriate for children, this event is very familyfriendly. In fact, theres a special area set aside just for kids. The Wild Prairie Family Park is centered around activities for kids and also features a stage. Kids can get their faces painted, play musical instruments and create their own artwork in this area. A variety of performances by Normans most talented kids will take place on the stage. Street performers, magicians and stilt-walkers are among the scheduled entertaining acts making their way around the festival, and thats fun for all ages. And of course, kids arent allowed to go into the downtown bars featuring music, but they are welcome at the outdoor stages. Though the festival is free, its absolutely worth it to buy a VIP pass. $60 gets you access to the VIP area in front of the stage, a limited edition t-shirt, complimentary food and drinks and more. You might even get the chance to mingle with your favorite bands in the VIP areas; you just never know. Another fun part of this years VIP pass is that instead of the typical plastic badge on a lanyard, it comes in the form of a laser-cut wooden badge. This unique collectible is your literal ticket to a fantastic, exclusive Norman Music Festival experience. VIP passes can be purchased on the festivals website. When the much-anticipated event rolls around, an unbelievable number of musicians will converge in downtown Norman to do their thing. The awesome thing about Norman Music Festival is the diversity of the music exhibited there. Hip-hop, folk rock, red dirt country, experimental, blues, metal pretty much any genre you can think of is represented. The festival kicks off on Thursday evening at a number of indoor venues downtown. Sooner Theatre will host a comedy night, and music is on the agenda at the Brewhouse, the Opolis and many other places. Make this your destination for going out instead of your usual haunts, and you wont be sorry. Friday evenings events will be similar to the previous night, with the addition of outdoor venues including a Latin Stage. DeadCENTER Film Festival will present rockumentaries at Sooner Theatre, and other venues will host bands. With so many things going on in one place (in addition to the stellar bars and restaurants always open downtown), this is the place to be. On Saturday at noon, an all-out musical onslaught begins. Downtown Norman becomes a treasure trove of music in addition to the large outdoor stages, youll find a different band literally around each and every corner. Almost every bar, restaurant and music venue downtown fills up with a barrage of sound. You can walk around for hours, drinking beer and dipping in and out of these places, and hear so much music your ears will be on overload. Whether youre checking out a band outside with hundreds of other people at the Main Stage, or at the Blue Bonnet Bar packed in tight checking out the band on their stage, the experience is unbeatable. Boyd Street Recommends: No doubt about it, Main Stage headliner Portugal. The Man is a must-see and hear. This experimental/rock band hails from Portland. Their sound is delightful but at the same time has a haunting quality. Texan Hayes Carll, headliner on the Jack Daniels stage, is also not to be missed. His strong yet raspy voice complements a traditional country sound. Other bands worth noting: The Damn Quails, Olivia Tremor Control, Other Lives, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and Alejandro Escovedo. Tips for Enjoying the Festival: Wear sunscreen. The heat so far is probably an indication that the sun will be out in full force all day Saturday, so take some precautions to avoid a painful sunburn. Plan ahead. Theres just no way to see and hear all the bands. Seriously, dont even try. Check out the schedule on the Norman Music Festival website and their Facebook page, and if there are certain bands you want to see, make it happen. Take lotsa cash. All the music is FREE, which is amazing in itself, but then theres the food, drinks and shopping at the Dustbowl Arts Market and the shops downtown. Dont count on your credit card being of any use to you in most of these places. And there will be plenty of buckets going around, giving you the chance to donate to the festival. Donations and sponsorships are what keep it free, so get in the giving spirit. Ride your bike. As stated earlier, there will be plenty of bike racks available to accommodate everyone, so biking it to the festival is a good way to go. You wont have to search for parking, and youll get some exercise in there too.
oth
ts time once again to gear up for the annual event that has been the biggest thing to hit Norman since Bob Stoops came to town. Im talking about the music extravaganza that is Norman Music Festival 5. This marks the fests fifth year, which has in each year since its inception increased in both quantity and quality. Now its one of the premier music festivals in the region, and according to Steven White, chairman of the festival, attracted an estimated 35-45,000 people last year. He also said last years event is estimated to have had a $3.6 million economic impact on our fair city, and thats nothing to scoff at. Norman Music Festival consists of two evenings and one full day of music, music and more music, beginning on the evening of Thursday, April 26th and continuing Friday night and all day Saturday. Outdoor stages and 11 venues all over downtown Norman will host bands, filling the streets with sound. Most of the musicians featured at the festival are Oklahomabased, so this is a great opportunity for them to showcase their music as well as network with other musicians. Its also a great opportunity for us non-musicians who just want to hang out with friends (and thousands of strangers), have a drink and hear lots and lots of truly exceptional music. Steven White has been involved in Norman Music Festival since it began in 2008, primarily working with production and booking bands. He said the number of bands applying to the festival has risen significantly. We had a little over 300 last year and we were just overwhelmed, and this year we had over 500, he said. And year by year, interest in performing at the festival keeps growing. As the festival becomes more successful and popular even though the bands know some of them might not get paid anything still just to be a part of that weekend, to be part of the Norman Music Festival, people get real excited about it and they line up to do it. Dont think that I ever take that for granted because thats what this is all about; promoting local musicians and hopefully helping some musicians take the step to the next level showcasing the local musicians is what the Norman Music Festival is all about, White said. Organizers of the festival go to great lengths to make each year more eco-friendly than the last. Hopefully everything that we do is thinking about the footprint that the festival will have afterwards, and we always want to try to minimize that, White said. White also said that every year a special committee works to find new ways to make the festival greener. Recycling bins will be placed around downtown to make disposing of aluminum cans and plastic bottles hassle-free, and White said he hopes to have a 1:1 ratio with trash cans and recycling this year. In efforts to encourage riding bicycles to the festival, White said that on Saturday, the parking lot behind the Opolis will be cleared to set up bike racks, giving people a specific, spacious area to park their bikes. With downtown being so centrally-located, theres really no reason not to ride a bike, or even walk. But if you dont live reasonably close, there should be plenty of parking available.

Given the fad, you know, of review sites, were catching on and providing reviews for people, places and things located off Campus Corner. Because sometimes it doesnt hurt to venture outside of a square block.
here are days, those horrible days, when a woman, skinny, fat or otherwise, cannot find something to wear. They are horrible days. A closet full of clothes and they all dont look right. The best thing to do on a day like that is go shopping. Im not an expert, but I do think its important to point out that Norman has an unusual amount of very cute and very-very cute boutiques. One of the newer boutiques among them is LXXI (pronounced Lexie) located on Main Street - candy apple red overhang sign, with white printed LXXI letters written on it and boutique artfully overlaid in turquoise on top - cant miss it, super adorable. By far I think that LXXI has hit the much-needed mark when it comes to satisfying the needs of Normans fashion-hungry women. Since the store only opened in November, Im impressed to see how pulled together the place is. From what I saw on the racks, they carry everything from business casual to everyday wear. Shoes? Yes, theyve got them. Bracelets? Yeah - duh. Headbands? Yes, they have those too. Along with purses and just about anything else that has to do with fashion. But back to the clothes ... theyve got the classics and the trendy. Check out their new spring dresses (picnic anyone?) and awesomely bright colored shorts for summer (Ill take three, thank you). The bright painted walls complimented with stylish patterned wallpaper make LXXI a shopping oasis. And does it get better? Well, yes, they also support Norman artists, so there is local artwork displayed on the walls. As if that wasnt supportive enough, they even sell Thunder shirts and participate in Normans Art Walk. Theyre also constructing a salon in the back ... all theyll need now is a bar (well, or a hallway that goes to Bison Witches next door). Made with much better quality than Ive seen from stores like Forever21 or the Gap, (at least thats my opinion) and priced equally as well ($15-$35), LXXI offers chic and affordable style options in a trendy and fun atmosphere. On top of the chicness, just a little online research led me to their Twitter page, (@LXXIBoutique) which I am now following because of their crazy deal announcements like their Black Friday deal of first 25 customers get a free gift with purchase or the deal
on Mardi Gras where anything in the store that had Mardi Gras beads on it was 20% off ... and they served gumbo. Genius! Genius! Now despite the passion displayed in this article, I dont shop often. Unless window-shopping counts. If it does count, than you can consider me an expert. And in that case my expert advice to you would be for you to check out this chic boutique on Main Street (yeah, you bet that rhymes). The prices are definitely affordable and the style is right on the money. Hopefully this place can help me trade in my window-shopping days for the real thing.

Yes, it is spring but that means the boys of summer are back in action across Major League stadiums across the country.
David Wright will pace the Mets at the plate and could be in contention. South Beach brings new color but the same ol fish. The Miami Marlins have some talent but the question is, can Ozzie Guillen get the Marlins to get it together? Phillies win the East once again, but pushed to the final day. National League Central: Central was probably the hardest division for me to figure out. Defending World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals may be down a pitcher for the year but will still be riding that high of winning it all. Milwaukee, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh all can challenge for the crown. Pittsburgh even held first place for a few days last year after the all-star break, and have signed their star player Andrew McCutchen to a long-term deal. The Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros will bring up the rear, and yes fans on the North Side its going to be another long year, and another year with no title. (Okay, that was a little of my White Sox fan side coming out). I have The Reds from Cincinnati winning this division. National League West: The National League West is a confusing conundrum of baseball; you never know what is going to happen with these four teams. Los Angeles, San Diego, Arizona, Colorado and San Francisco beat up on each other all season and its always a close race down to the final week if not final day. The L.A. Dodgers have new ownership and a Cy Young pitcher in Clayton Kershaw and the guy who I felt should have won the NL MVP in Oklahomas own Matt Kemp. San Francisco has two of the best pitchers in Tim Lincecum and phenom catcher Buster Posey is back. The Arizona Diamondbacks won the West last year and Colorado is always dangerous. I am going with the Giants to win this division. My playoff picks from the American League: Division winners are Detroit, New York and Texas. The two wild card teams will be the Tampa Bay Rays and the Los Angeles Angels. In the ALCS I have the Yankees beating the Rangers to advance to the World Series. From the National League: Division winners Cincinnati, San Francisco and Philadelphia. The two wild card teams will be the St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins. In the NLCS I have the Cardinals losing to the Reds. My World Series prediction is the Yankees to beat the Reds and add another championship to their long history of winning history says so.
