JFIRE is a pocket-size, quick-reference guide for requesting fire support inaccordance with approved joint tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP).JFIRE contains calls for fire, joint air attack team (JAAT) techniques, a format for joint air strike requests, close air support (CAS) coordination and planningprocedures, communications architecture, and weapons data.
JFIRE applies to the tactical and special operating forces of the Army, Navy,Marine Corps, and Air Force. It is a United States (US) unilateral-only document,but includes some North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) formats whereappropriate. Information in JFIRE has been extracted from existing Servicedirectives. It is primarily intended for use by members of battalion and squadron-level combat units.
Participating Service command offices of primary responsibility (OPRs) willreview this publication, validate the information and, where appropriate,reference and incorporate it in Service manuals, regulations, and curricula asfollows:
Upon approval and authentication, this publication incorporates theprocedures contained herein into the United States (US) Army Doctrine andTraining Literature Program as directed by the Commander, US Army Trainingand Doctrine Command (TRADOC). Distribution is in accordance with applicabledirectives and the Initial Distribution Number (IDN) listed on the authenticationpage.
The Marine Corps will incorporate the procedures in thispublication in US Marine Corps training and doctrine publications as directed bythe Commanding General, US Marine Corps Combat Development Command(MCCDC). Distribution is in accordance with the Marine Corps PublicationDistribution System (MCPDS).
The Navy will incorporate these procedures in US Navy training anddoctrine publications as directed by the Commander, Navy Warfare DevelopmentCommand (NWDC)[N5]. Distribution is in accordance with Military StandardRequisition and Issue Procedure (MILSTRIP) Desk Guide Navy SupplementPublication-409 (NAVSUP P-409).
The Air Force will incorporate the procedures in this publication inaccordance with applicable governing directives. Distribution is in accordancewith Air Force Instruction (AFI) 33-360.
