Trivia Night and Auction Event Help Needed
With the event less than two weeks away assistance is needed. If you

• Trivia Night and Auction Bar Saturday, June 16th, 6:306:30--10:30pm -
we are looking for 1-2 volunteers to assist on the bar on the night,
serving drinks. It’s a fun way to participate in the event if you are not
into Trivia. Please contact Cyndy Scherer
• Trestle Tables needed - if you have a trestle table (the ones that are
about 6 feet long) or two we are seeking some for use at the Trivia
Night and Auction event on Saturday, June 16th. These tables will be
used to help provide adult height tables for the Trivia Night:) . Please
contact Cyndy Scherer.
• Trivia Night and Auction Event Set Up, Saturday, June 16h, 11am11am-
3pm. We are seeking volunteers to assist with setup for the Trivia
Night and Auction event. This will include clean-up of the hall, set
up of the tables and chairs, the silent auction etc… If you can help
you can sign up on the roster on the FOA bulletin Board just outside
the staff room or contact Cyndy Scherer .
• Trivia Night and Auction Event Clean Up, Saturday, June 16h, 10:3010:30--
11:30pm. We are seeking volunteers to assist with cleaning up after
the Trivia Night and Silent Auction event. This will include picking
up trash, bussing tables, moving tables and chairs (the Hall must be
ready for before school care on Monday). If you can help you can
sign up on the roster on the FOA bulletin Board just outside the staff
room or contact Cyndy Scherer.
Don’t Miss Out on the Annual Trivia Night and
Auction Event!
This event is now less than two weeks away (Saturday, June 16,
6:30-10:30pm)—have you made your plans to attend? This
should be a fun and lively evening, (MCd this year by Hayden
from the Morning Team at Bay FM) and remember this event is
an adult only event, so make sure you have your babysitter lined
up!
The auction (silent and live) is shaping up nicely with lots of
generous donations from local businesses and the parent
community including:
• A Gourmet Hamper, including a bottle of Moet Champagne
and Maggie Beer goodies
• A Family Pass for a one hour sail on the Enterprize Tall
Sailing Ship
• A pair of Oroton ladies sunglasses (valued at $215)
An Auction Catalogue and Event Information Booklet will be
going home tomorrow, Wednesday, June 6th. It includes
information on all the night’s activities, details on all the auction
items and information on submitting Proxy Bids on auction items
if you are unable to attend the event. We are looking forward to
seeing everyone there!

What a delightful session we
had on Monday, preparing and
baking Apfelstrudel! Even
better on Tuesday, when we
were able to taste test them!!!!
It was a real delight to work
alongside your children in the
kitchen. They were attentive,
quick to act, thoughtfully
anticipating the next step and
taking initiative, helpful in
finding and sharing utensils
and meticulous in cleaning up.
We had a short amount of time
and they worked hard.
Blitzschnell! "Masterchef" had
nothing on us.
Our results tasted really good,
according to all reports.
Perhaps there were some slices
of apple thicker than others, a
bit more cinnamon and
sultanas here than there, but
the Strudel were expertly rolled
and basted-we love painting
with butter!!
!We allowed for creativity!
Your child now has the skills
equal to any expert Austrian
Strudel maker and would love
to make this delicacy for you at
home.
I would like to thanks the
families, who supplied their
child with the ingredients and
were generous in supplying
extra for those children, who
may have forgotten or not had
fruit in the house on a Monday.
Can You Help?
Below are some current
activities we are seeking
assistance with:
• Garden Volunteers with Mr.
Batters Class, every Thursday,
12:30--1:30pm
12:30 1:30pm. Volunteers are
needed to assist small groups of
students in their tasks including
weeding, mulching,
composting, watering and
planting. If you can help please
let Mr. Batters know or join us
in the garden on Thursdays.
Siblings welcome.
• Fresh Fruit Friday, every Friday,
9-10am – Each Friday we
prepare fresh fruit and veges
for the classroom. Join us in the
kitchen this Friday and ever
Friday in Term 2 to help.

Due to the recent wet weather
some of the fields/courts we
had planned to use are
unavailable. As a result the
event WILL NOT take place
tomorrow, Wednesday, June
6th and instead will take place
on Thursday, June 14th
New permission notes will not
be necessary as we will be able
to use the notes already
collected.

Garden To Do List—
Week of May 29-June
5
Below are a list of tasks we
need assistance with in the
vege garden (in the junior
playground) over the next
week:
• Watering garden beds (2 x
a week)
• Weeding garden beds
• Turning the compost bins (2
x a week)
• Cutting Rosemary branches
into smaller pieces
These tasks can be completed
any time that the school
grounds are open (generally
7:45am-6pm Monday to
Friday). If you need equipment
from the garden shed, you can
get a key from the office. If you
complete a task, simply mark it
off from the notice board list.

Jam Jars Needed
Grade 5/6 and 4/5/6 will be
making jam for the Ashby
Market Day and Art show later
this year. All small jars (baby
food size ) gratefully accepted.

Cooking at the
Gordon—Week 3
In the third week of this
program our four Ashby
participant, AbbeyC, AbbyL,
Elisha and JohnC made a
yummy chicken stirfry! Below
is the recipe:
1 packet of stir fry noodles
1 chicken breast (poached and
shredded or diced)
1 capsicum
1 bokchoy
1 spring onion
6 chives
1/6 of a cabbage
A little bit or garlic
A little bit of ginger
Bean shoots
Pre made stir fry sauce
If noodles are frozen defrost them
before beginning.
Dice the capsicum, bokchoy,
spring onion, chives, cabbage,
ginger and garlic. Mix all
ingredients in a bowl except the
capsicum.
For extra decoration finely chop
some of the spring onions and
capsicum, place in a bowl of ice
water and set aside to sprinkle on
top of the stir fry once cooked.
Begin cooking the capsicum in a
pan, then add the rest of the mix
and shredded/diced chicken.
Blanche the noodles in boiling
water til soft and then place in the
pan with the other cooking
ingredients.
Add the stir fry sauce.
