What is Research & Planning?

Research in media terms is the investigation into and study of media materials. Its the collection of information and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions on media products. Planning in media terms is the process of making plans for a media product from the start, through the production process and distribution process of the product. Wikipedia Research and experimental development is creative work
undertaken systematically to increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humanity, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications & Planning is both the organizational process of creating and maintaining a plan; and the psychological process of thinking about the activities required to create a desired goal on some scale. As such, it is a fundamental property of intelligent behavior.

What R & P stages are needed to make a horror film?


Research Stages: Target audience research is always needed regardless of the genre of film. The horror film cant copyright any films or events in films previously made, it has to be unique to the company writing the scripts and directing the film. Previous horror films would need to be analysed and constantly viewed to create a better experience for the audience when watching the new one created. Research on misc-en-scene, sound, cinematography and editing techniques (C-E-SMES) and typical conventions would be needed to make the film most effective and enjoyable. Some background information would need to be collected. Planning stages: The plot, the main story and interesting key elements in the story would need to be planned and mapped out before production of the film. Location release forms, Photography release forms and Filming release forms would need to be created, negotiated, verified and signed. Costumes, apparel and appearance of characters would need to be planned thoroughly before actors are chosen to fit the role.
