After the ghastly church shooting in Texas, I am reminded of Mary Shepard.
Shepard was the lead plaintiff in the National Rifle Association's lawsuit that forced the Illinois General Assembly to pass a law four years ago allowing residents to carry concealed firearms in the state.
She is a fighter and a fierce supporter of Second Amendment rights. And though we disagree on many aspects of what that should entail, she is a woman for whom I have a great deal of respect.
