Collect seed from open-pollinated crops to save for sowing in spring or early summer. Make sure seed is clean and dry, then store it in an airtight container. Clearly label the seed and include the date it was collected.
It’s probably time to give up on tomatoes but don’t waste the unripe fruit — green tomatoes can be used in chutney or may be ripened indoors.
Ripe pumpkins are heavy and sound drummy when rapped with the knuckles. To store over winter, harvest each with a sharp knife
