Settling on the sofa, I took a swig of my drink. Bit strong, I thought to myself, wincing. It was a Friday night in November 2013, and after a long day at work, this glass of Jack Daniel’s was just what I needed.
As a lorry driver, I spent most of my time on the road, hauling goods behind my rig.
A single dad to Callum, he was my whole world.
But at 17, he much preferred hanging out with his mates to spending time with his old man.
At 50, my life was pretty routine, but lately, I’d found myself in a bit of a rut.
The one thing I was missing was a woman – I hadn’t dated in years.
Truth be told, I was rather lonely.
A few weeks before, the lads at work had talked me into online dating.
I agreed, mainly to get them off my back!
