A confidential document paints a bleak picture of the SABC’s future if it doesn’t act urgently to prevent its “collapse”.
The document also suggests that the public broadcaster is pushing ahead with retrenchments, despite the ANC’s strenuous objections to this process.
According to the 68-page presentation by the SABC management last month, seen by City Press, revenue for the past financial year was R1.7 billion below budget. To make matters worse, the anticipated impact of Covid-19 on revenue is estimated to be R2 billion for this financial year.
