Many people cannot hide their surprise at Wang Xingyu’s current job when he mentions his college major. Having studied international relations, the 30-year-old entrepreneur today works to promote rural development.
“I decided to devote myself to rural development in China exactly because of what I’ve studied,” Wang told Beijing Review. “After learning from professors and traveling and living in different countries for a few years, I realized what I really enjoyed doing was teaching-related work and enabling more children, especially the disadvantaged ones, to broaden their horizons.”
