Italian publishing insider Filippo Bernardini was behind the audacious theft of more than 1000 titles before they hit the shelves.

Between 2016 and 2022, he stole manuscripts including Sally Rooney’s bestseller Normal People, as well as targeting prominent authors like Margaret Atwood and Ian McEwan.

Working in London at Simon & Schuster, he saw how books were passed around before publication and started to impersonate publishers
