THE North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) has, once again, had to bring in additional diesel traction as a result of the summer’s hot weather conditions.
A lineside fire on May 25, requiring the attendance of North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, caused the railway to suspend steam-hauled services. The Dean Forest Diesel Association’s No. 31466 was hired by the NYMR and had been due to remain on the line until September. However on July 3, it was confirmed it had been purchased by Peter Best, owner of S160 No. 2253 and Black 5 No. 44806, and will now be a permanent resident at the NYMR.
