About this audiobook
She’s the obsession two men share: one wants her love, the other wants her life.
A shared passion for justice first brought Baton Rouge district attorney Lauren Chandler and US marshal Anthony Ross together—when each played their part in bringing down the infamous Bayou Butcher. The sparks flying between the two made it clear they weren’t just a legal dream team. Then desire had to make way for duty, and what they had was done. But it would never be over.
Five years later, it’s none other than the Butcher who gets things started again, when his shocking jailbreak reunites the lawyer and the lawman…and reignites their love. But this time, the pair is in danger of being permanently parted—by a killer with revenge on his mind, and Lauren on the top of his list. As a new wave of terror sweeps through the streets and swamps of Baton Rouge, one man will pit his boundless passion against another’s relentless hate, for the life of the woman who obsesses them both.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book loved it and love this author now !!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It is a fascinating and more intriguing aspect of the book. That kept one reading trying to know what happens next and the action of both killers and their different emotions. It is very much an action that kept taking you into most of the storyline which in turn that leads to one suspense and into another. It equally takes the reader's mind into all aspects of uncertainty that is embedded into the storyline and senses. That got you suspending in the reading and expectations of the investigators and that of workers from both the FBI agents, the DA office, the Marshals, and police officers who were hunting for the killers. Again, the writer was able to keep the readers on the hunt and keeping them to suspecting everyone around the DA offices.
The writer made this book all about focusing on the killers and as a separate entity of their own. Each time it looks like they got the killer especially the second killer. It only takes the reader to expects and suspecting another person who is working with them. Initially all thought that it was Westley Hawthorne because of the mistakes he made leading into the search for the killer. Who was Jon Walker and the Bayou Butcher killer who has a partner that was known to stay out of the light and in the background. While his partner was doing the killing and he watching. Another time the writer made it looks like the killer was Paul one of the police and another again. Then, to their greatest surprises to come to know that it was someone different.
In this book recognizing the reason and why each person had, been carefully made to look like they are connected or leading to both first Bayou Butcher killer and then his partner. It was all along Grey Wright the medical examiner (M.E) known as Dr. Death. I also find it very impossible to come to know that it was the medical examiner M.E. When initially Paul and Voyt Harry was always there with district Attorney (DA) and followed her every steps. But at the end of it all he fought hard to get his ways even Lauren asked that he is not killed because she wants the family to have their day in the court of law. Something you cannot get justices with a killers the only way is to kill that killer stop him from get another chance. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This story, just like others of Cynthia Eden's that I have read, was very well written. I loved all of the twists and turns and she really does good about keeping you guessing. Every time that you think you have figured it out, you get put back in your place again. I will say though, that while I do like the narrator's voice in some parts, I do not like her narration of any Male characters. And there were some things that were mispronounced that really bugged me. Maybe I will read book over audiobook next time...All in all though, great story. I would recommend it.

3.5 Stars
Jon Walker, the notorious Bayou Butcher, escapes from prison and seeks revenge against those who put him away - the Judge, the jurors and the DA. As he closes in on his targets, District Attorney, Lauren Chandler and U.S. Marshall, Anthony Ross, must put aside their shared history and work together to catch a deranged killer before the body count rises further.
A gripping thriller but the romance falls flat.
Despite their intense attraction, Lauren and Anthony’s emotional connection is non-existent and their physical intimacy seems forced and mechanical. Anthony’s obsession with Lauren borders on the creepy, especially considering his family history, and Lauren’s behavior throughout the book makes her appear cold and distant.
The strength of the book lies in the suspense plot, which keeps you guessing right up until the end. There are several compelling twists and turns to the traditional escaped convict premise, and the climax and resolution are action packed and thrilling. The last few chapters are riveting and it is impossible not to keep turning the pages to find out what happens next.
In sum, Cynthia Eden is one of my favorite authors, but this is not one of her better romantic suspense works. Nevertheless, it is well written and worth reading for the serial killer storyline. Hopefully the next installment in the series will be more like the first, Die For Me, which is an excellent read. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In this thriller, the Bayou Butcher escapes from prison and returns to Baton Rough to get revenge against those who put him away. US Marshal, Anthony Ross returns to Baton Rough to hunt the killer and protect those involved in the trial. He is particularly interested in protecting Lauren Chandler, the DA who prosecuted the Butcher. Lauren and Anthony had a brief relationship following the trial, and Anthony can't get her out of his mind. I don't know what it is about stories like these that grab me. The writing is not all that great. But is isn't bad either. I guess I am just a serial killer geek and will have to learn to live with it. As long as justice prevails in the end, The romance in this one was a bit annoying. Anthony kept calling Lauren "Baby". I thought I might puke after a while. And he was a bit obsessive about her, but it fits into the story so it was sort of OK. I really like the way Eden writes serial killers. I don't know what that says about me.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another great one by Cynthia Eden!
