    Harmony Black is much more than your average FBI special agent.       A good monster hunting mystery with some interesting characters and a good narrator.

      I really enjoyed the book which begins a new series that combines two of my favorite genres - urban fantasy and mystery. Harmony Black is a straight-arrow FBI agent who also happens to be a practicing witch. She is recruited to be part of a secret FBI operation and sent to Talbot Cove to investigate the disappearance of some children. Harmony knows Talbot Cove. She was born there and lived there until she was six years old. She and her mother left town after her little sister Angie was taken and her father, the sheriff, killed trying to save his daughter. Harmony was sure that it was the Bogeyman but the police were looking for a more rational explanation.Since then Harmony has had other encounters with the strange. Being back in Talbot Cove with her partner was was raised by a serial killer, a computer hacker, and an old pro in a wheelchair, Harmony has to find out why the Bogeyman has come back. And she and the team have to find a way to stop him. I liked the characters and the relationship between Harmony and her new partner Jessie. I also liked that she got to meet a childhood friend who is now a Deputy. I liked the supernatural bounty hunters. While neither one cared much for humans, Fontaine proved himself useful while Nyx made an excellent secondary villain. I am eager to read more in this new series.

      An interesting read with a good pace. Decent character development. Paranormal police FBI investigation team investigating child abductions involving a doppelganger. Likable characters and overall theme. Good second book set-up.

      Loved it! Started this after several books into the Daniel Faust series since this is the same world. Felt like going on a new adventure in your old favorite comfortable shoes. Recommended!

      I can't believe I read a book with supernatural creatures in it. I did and I loved it. Well written, well paced, characters are well realized, satisfying ending. I am not sure I want to get bogged down in a series but I may read #2. Sometimes I wish there were illustrations in books. I could have used a visual of what they were describing.

      A fresh urban fantasy, with a strong female protagonist, no cringy romance in sight, nice setting, and good side characters. I am a bit unsure about the magic system. Will be keeping an eye on this series.

      I really enjoyed this book. The characters grew on me, and the supernatural mystery was creepy as hell. Some interesting twists and turns, and even a tiny bit of romance. Good banter between the character... it felt natural and real. Looking forward to reading more of Harmony and her team's adventures!

      First in Harmony Black series, spun off of Daniel Faust series by the same author. Solid start and an interesting plot. Really engaging and fast read-hard to put down.

      Harmony Black by Craig Schaefer and narrated by Christina Traister is a spooky and exciting fantasy read with the real boogie man, demons, and other supernatural creatures. Harmony is a FBI witch that is on a case that means a lot to her. Someone is taking children and often making it look like it was the parent. Harmony's sister was kidnapped and Harmony and her mother saw who really took her, the boogie man! Good story with lots of great characters and mini-stories inside the main one. Love the suspense and fantasy action. Narration was excellent!

      Another book in the fairly saturated detective/magic cross over novels. And this time, its fairly good. We have a detective who happens to know magic - a secret government team, with a no holds secret mandate to fight evil at all costs. Its fairly typical - something is taking children, and Harmony has a personal stake in this, since her baby sister was taken when she Harmony was just a child. Of course, it takes her back to her old town, meeting old acquaintances, as well as making new ones.I like that the people in this book work as a team. They are making sensible choices (but still get in trouble), of course, since this is a new time, working together, its not smooth, but there is growing at the end. The story is well written - with not a lot a of dead time. The ending is actually horrific, but seemed a bit tacked on.Its not a series I will buy, but if I see it in the library, I will check it out.

      4.5*Book source ~ Kindle FirstHarmony Black is an FBI agent in a covert organization named Vigilant Lock. She’s also a witch and her job is to hunt monsters. After her last job goes south and a new job turns up in her home town, her boss puts her on a team for the first time. No longer working solo takes some getting used to, but she’s fitting in pretty well considering she’s facing her childhood monster – The Bogeyman.The only drawback to this intriguing paranormal tale of monsters and mystery is that there is some repetitiveness that gets a bit irritating. Otherwise this is a one hell of a ride with action nearly from the start. The plot is fast moving, the writing is pretty good and the characters are awesome. Monsters, magic, the occult, mysteries and conspiracies upon conspiracies, where the hell is this series going? I have no idea, but it looks like it’s going to be quite a fun ride!

      I felt like I was being dropped into the middle of a story the whole time I read this. The world building was lacking for me, like I was missing something about it. It finally clicked when I read the author's note after the end of the story. Harmony is a spin off from another series, set in the same world. Ahhhhh! Might have to check out the other series to see if that was what was missing for me.

      Harmony Black is a strong, female heroine who kicks monster butt and also happens to be a witch. Who wouldn't want to hang out with her? Well, at least within the pages of a book. I'm not so sure I'd want to spend any real time in her presence, given the type of company she attracts.This book certainly falls within the supernatural realm, but also has elements of mystery, suspense, a little romance, and a twinge of horror. Craig Schaefer made me believe in monsters. His creations were so realistic that I was hesitant to open my closet doors. I enjoyed the interplay between the characters, particularly with Harmony and her new partner, Jessie. The dialogue feels genuine, and each character has a unique personality. I also appreciated that the budding romance did not turn Harmony into a weak-kneed ball of mush. She's strong and independent, and does not immediately fall at the feet of the good looking guy who turns her way. The plot moves at a quick pace. There is no lagging or unnecessarily long passages of narration. We're taken right to the case at hand, and we follow the characters as they uncover all the secrets of the bogeyman. I did not realize that this book, and Harmony's character, is a spin-off of Schaefer's Daniel Faust Series, which I have not read. This one reads perfectly as a stand-alone, so you don't have to read that series first. However, if you are reading the other series, you might want to be sure you're caught up before reading this one, as there might be some spoilers about Harmony's character and past cases.While this is a fun, light read, it might leave you quivering when the lights go out.
