The division of views during the 1400s was the start to a greater event in the future that will cost many lives. When reading you see how Jews and Arabs are treated like animals if not worse. Christendom was cruel and unloving to these people, their hatred only caused more pain and more bloodshed.
Luca and his companions witness these cruelties. The inquiry is not as simple and the evidence of insanity is clear, but unexplainable during this time.
Danger and death knocks on these traveling campions. One with poison, one with hysteria, one squires good will and unknown guardian, and the young inquirer with love for two with the same blood and the old priest who does what he can to protect his group.
Out of the series this volume really shined through with themes of inhumanity, guilt, and the simple minded views of a large society of people during the medieval times.
When hatred is all around what else will other generations learn. It takes a single view to change the flocks perspective.
