About this audiobook

Animal Farm is an allegorical novella by George Orwell, first published in England on 17 August 1945. The book tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. Ultimately, however, the rebellion is betrayed, and the farm ends up in a state as bad as it was before, under the dictatorship of a pig named Napoleon.
According to Orwell, the fable reflects events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. Orwell, a democratic socialist, was a critic of Joseph Stalin and hostile to Moscow-directed Stalinism, an attitude that was critically shaped by his experiences during the Spanish Civil War. The Soviet Union, he believed, had become a brutal dictatorship built upon a cult of personality and enforced by a reign of terror. In a letter to Yvonne Davet, Orwell described Animal Farm as a satirical tale against Stalin ("un conte satirique contre Staline"), and in his essay "Why I Write" (1946), wrote that Animal Farm was the first book in which he tried, with full consciousness of what he was doing, "to fuse political purpose and artistic purpose into one whole".

George Orwell

George Orwell (1903–1950), the pen name of Eric Arthur Blair, was an English novelist, essayist, and critic. He was born in India and educated at Eton. After service with the Indian Imperial Police in Burma, he returned to Europe to earn his living by writing. An author and journalist, Orwell was one of the most prominent and influential figures in twentieth-century literature. His unique political allegory Animal Farm was published in 1945, and it was this novel, together with the dystopia of 1984 (1949), which brought him worldwide fame.

George Orwell slayed and I mean SLAYED this masterpiece, I thought the metaphors where ingenious and the characterisation and the stories well fleshed out. I mean this is the same talent behind 1984 ? I am a BONAFIDE fan of his work

It s a book of revolution and how to turn a country into communist and dictatorship like what happened to many countries during 2nd world war, using the animals as metaphor.

It is absolutely frightening and a clear explanation and sight of what exactly happened and how the people were manipulated.

The call for equality and communist masqueraded the dictatorship agenda and turned the whole country into misery.

I believe this should be read by lots of people nowadays, specially our world has become a place where EQUALITY is highly spoken in all aspects; this should be read in schools as the 1984 of George Orwell.

Incredible book! Symbolic, easy to remember, and always changing. The story remains surprising throughout and a great tale of The Soviet Union’s rule of communism. One of the most excellent books I have read.
