About this audiobook
And she really doesn't anticipate waking up in shackles in a madman's basement.
To make matters worse, Dean shares the space in his own set of chains.
After fifteen years of teasing, insults, and practical jokes, the ultimate joke seems to be on them. The two people who always thought they'd end up killing each other must now work together if they want to survive.
But Cora and Dean have no idea their abductor has a plan for them. A plan that will alter the course of their relationship, blur the line between hate and love, and shackle them together with far more than just chains.
Contains mature themes.

Jennifer is a wedding photographer with her husband. She is also excellent at making puns and finding inappropriate humor in mundane situations. She loves tacos. She also really, really wants to pet your dog.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Couldn't put it down! It's a very dark and - I believe - realistic portrait of trauma and aftermath of that trauma. I loved the relationship between the main couple, and Dean is probably one of my favorite MC's of this year. The kidnapper was somewhat a caricature of a Pervert Bad Guy™ but served it's purpose. Mandy though... Jesus, did she annoy me throughout the whole book, lol.
All in all, love it and would totally recommend!1 person found this helpful

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Pleasantly surprised. At first I was like “ ope girl that’s your sister fiancé” then before I knew it didn’t even care and could see everyone’s side. Worth a read

I listened to the audiobook. I enjoyed it. Although, IMO I think they killed that man rather quickly. I was shocked to see so many chapters after he died. I can’t imagine trying to get back to your “normal” life after going through so much trauma.
Cora was hard to listen to, just her wishy-washy-ness, I want to be with Dean to no I change my mind I can’t do this! It’s ok to want to be with the man that saved your life, it’s ok to have feelings for the man who was your only light in a place of darkness.
Dean.. Besides the getting jealous of Cora trying to move on and dating other people. Dean was the best character. He cared so much about Cora. Even before the bad man kidnapped them. He left so she could heal. He was a great guy.
Mandy on the other hand. Fuck Mandy. It was a messy situation and I get that she couldn’t understand their trauma and was upset. But to feel “betrayed” after Dean and Cora were intimate.. she aggravated me.
I absolutely loved the story about Dean and his college friend and how Cora slipped him a Viagra! Omg I was laughing my ass off!
I’m really happy that we got a several years later life update and things just fell into place. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I did not know how I was going to make it through this book, but I ended up really loving it. Truly pulls at the heart strings!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book had me from the beginning, it was a perfect blend of thriller and romance!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book sucks you in right from the beginning. Part one was hard to get through because of the triggers but over all the book was great!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is deep. I don’t think I’ve really ever loved a male character as much as I love Dean. Honestly the patience this man has is insane. At times I just wanted someone to smack Cora upside the head and tell her to get it together but had to remember she went through a traumatic experience. This book was so different compared to a lot of others with the same genre because you don’t get the full aftermath of what a person might be going through, most books just act like it didn’t happen and then boom the person is fine. I absolutely loved everything about this story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was an incredible story, both the romantic and plot elements. I’ll think about this one for a long time
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The trauma bond was so real, but the love was undeniable
l - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing amazing amazing ?? best proposal ever. ❤️ 10/10 recommend
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great book. The only thing I didn't like was the bonus ending. I think Tabitha should've gotten a better ending, too. But all in all a good book!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I wasn’t expecting that, but I was surprised. The writing was amazing and the narration was perfectly cast.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book, I knew the basics and was wary that it would be incredibly triggering and not well done. But it surpassed my expectations, I knew the storyline would be heavy but it wasn't overly grotesque or gory. It focused more on the relationship between the two main characters and their survival, then on to their journey after. Other reviews are harsh of the characters but if you've experienced trauma, you'd realize that every person handles it differently. And I appreciated that their journey wasn't easy or fake after their ordeal. There are triggers so be aware of them, but as someone that is sensitive and can't read super dark books, this one was more profound and deep than it was dark. I really enjoyed and appreciated the audiobook, definitely recommend.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow. Well done by author and narrators. I felt all of it.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Super disappointed. Everyone needs therapist, STAT. Unfortunately, the best part of the book was the most traumatic…
