Being rather isolated we evolved into bunch of storytellers and artists. On the long train trips from our hometown to the Big City Salisbury I entertained the family by drawing (they were basically cartoons) fellow passengers and then they would have to guess who was the unfortunate victim. A career in the arts was not regarded as a real “job” but I managed to convince my parents that it could be and so I was the first one to follow this career path. I studied Commercial Art and Design at Bulawayo Technical College. After I completed may studies my first move was to Cape Town to be a photographer in the SA Navy thus doing my national service and starting my career at the same time! My cartooning, illustrating and writing skills were developed when I joined a national magazine company a layout artist. Here we could do freelance illustration and thus supplement or income. I even had the opportunity to create and develop a comic strip character for one of the publications.Presently I freelance and illustrate mainly for publishers and I have a Facebook page dedicated to my two grand daughters that live over the pond by the Queen and if you wish to see their page go to: https://www.facebook.com/alphabethandkapannahview less
