About this ebook

Agatha Raisin and the Case of the Curious Curate continues the tradition in M. C. Beaton's beloved Agatha Raisin cozy mystery series—now a hit show on Acorn TV and public television.

Agatha Raisin is feeling miserable—and with good reason. Her ex-husband, James, has abandoned her, and she's been humiliated by an unseemly proposition from John Armitage, her handsome neighbor. So complete is her devastation that Agatha has given up on makeup and taken to wearing the loose cotton dresses and flat, sensible shoes she has always abhorred.

But there is light at the end of this dark and lonely tunnel, and its source is Carsely's beatific new curate, Tristan Delon. With his golden hair, large blue eyes, and perfect mouth, Tristan has attracted the interest of more than a few of his female congregants. And to her surprise, he seems to have taken a special interest in Agatha.

Despite his charms, however, there is something odd about the curate, and after he's found dead in the vicar's study, it's up to Agatha and John to investigate.

Agatha Raisin and The Case of the Curious Curate (#13) by MC Beaton - OK

You always know what you are going to get with this series: a strange (cosy) murder, Agatha moping about being single, blundering around putting herself in danger and eventually solving the case with all the usual characters displaying all their usual personalities and quirks. Not really much to add to that.

Some are better than others, I think I read this too quickly after the last one as I didn't enjoy it so much. Still it whiled away a couple of days while I cleared my head of the last book. (Really I read it because I foolishly read the first chapter included at the end of the last book, I had it on kindle, I was going to the theatre and my next choice of book is a big hardback).

This was a cute book. Liked it much better than the previous one.

This is another enjoyable Agatha Raisin mystery. So far I can depend on this series to provide a good light mystery, always with a touch of humour. In this one, Agatha climbs into a suit of armour to avoid being caught breaking into a suspect's house through a coal chute! This story s slightly better plot-wise than some of the others. There's a surprise at the end just when you think the story is ending. I keep wondering when Agatha is going to get her PI licence.

A better than average Agatha Raisin tale involving a new Curate at the church in Carsely. Needless to say Agatha falls for him,but her love soon turns sour.Several murders follow in quick succession, which she begins to investigate. This turns out to be a rather dangerous decision.Slightly marred by a silly scene in which she scrambles into a suit of armour to escape being discovered after breaking into a house.

Agatha Raisin's character develops in this outing, but her love life is still the pits. Enjoyable "cozy" mystery set in a Cotswold village.

13th in the Agatha Raisin series, this episode finds our venerable heroine back in Carsely where she discovers that the vicar, Alf Bloxby, has hired a new curate to help him at the church while he's down with the flu. Tristan Delon is the most beautiful man that Agatha has ever laid eyes on, and when he invites her for dinner, she accepts gladly. When he is discovered dead in Alf's study the next morning, however, Agatha's innate need to investigate comes to the fore. Tristan had only been in town for a few weeks, but had already approached several of the single women in Carsely about "investing" their money, and he had a long history in other towns as well. Who decided it was time to get rid of the Golden Boy? It will be up to Agatha to find out before the murderer manages to put a stop to her meddling on a permanent basis.Another pleasant, cozy little read.

Agatha Raisin is a mixture of Miss Marple, Jessica Fletcher and Stephanie Plum. She's a middle aged woman who's retired to the English Countryside and people around her are murdered. Agatha with her friends blunder around to help the police solve the case. The title tells who the murder victim is this time.
