    As a mom, wife, and daughter of God, Heidi lives an ordinary life in the Midwest. Married 19 years to the one who holds her heart, she is mom to 3 Es... one in public high school, one in private middle school, and one elementary homeschooled. Heidi's days are spent loving on these four she loves the most. Occasionally she finds time to bake bread, host sledding with her kids on snow days, knit, and swim at a local community center. In 2007, Heidi began writing children's Bible studies and Sunday School curriculum for the little congregation that changed her view of church. Some of these are now available for download absolutely free. Over the years, Heidi has also prayed many friends through the horrific battle of breast cancer. Her life is richer for the gift of these friends. Heidi's first novel, The Secret of Counting Gifts, is dedicated to these warrior friends. In some form or another, Heidi has imagined, shared, told, and written stories for as long as she can remember. Being called to share her stories has been a journey out of the ordinary. The Secret of Counting Gifts is her first published novel. Immensely grateful for her gift to craft words into stories that move readers from laughter to tears and back again, she is quick to credit the Creator for her talent.       introduction

      In this Bible study, we are going to look at Jesus’ words to His disciples that are recorded in Matthew and in Luke.

      What are the first four books of the New Testament?

      Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are referred to as The Gospels. These books record for us the life, the works, and the words of Jesus when He was here on Earth. Sometimes, more than one book will record the same thing. Most people agree that each of these book is named after the man that wrote the book. Matthew and John were part of what people call the 12 disciples. They were with Jesus every day. They were eyewitnesses to all that things that they later wrote down. Mark and Luke were some of the earliest Christians or followers of Christ. Mark and Luke were not part of Jesus' disciples. We do not know if they saw the things that they wrote down or if someone told them the stories. Either way, they wrote stories that eventually became part of the Bible.
