Foreword

The other day several news reports caught my attention; the first was a Time Magazine cover and article that referred to Obama critics as dumb. Dumb is intellectual for I can’t think of a bigger word. And that led to thoughts on the evolution of man.

Certain insects have interdependent hierarchical systems; queen bees and ants, their attendants, and finally the drones and workers. Canines have interdependent, territorial packs, with a pecking order. Humans, too, initially found it beneficial to form packs with a pecking order, or interdependent hunter-gatherer tribes with a hierarchy systems.

Then in the 1300 and 1400s, during a period of global warming, or maybe climate change (others just call it the medieval warming period), many advancements were made in agriculture, science, and technology. Humans began to progress in stages beyond the herd mentality of interdependence; most were incapable of progressing beyond the hierarchy systems of the lower kingdoms. Hence, Kings, Lords, peers, and commoners; despotic rulers over the people. All those on the lower level of the hierarchy were forced to provide for the creature comforts of parasites above them, their superiors.

With the advancement of education, many more progressed beyond the herd-mentality of interdependence, and the collective. Those who were incapable of evolving, as animals, knew instinctively they were cerebrally incapable of progressing beyond the lower animal life forms. So, they had no care but for their own reptilian wants and needs. Since, mankind has always suffered from a perpetual pandemic of arrested development, many of them migrated to journalism, or academia, and yet others found their way into politics.

Because they instinctively knew they were inferior, they became completely self-absorbed; they wallowed in their own emotions, their feelings, their needs, and wants. They have an all consuming need for external recognition of their own delusional superiority, their own vastly exaggerated value to mankind. For this reason they have a visceral hatred of those who had evolved beyond the herd-mentality of the collective; of anyone who became self-reliant and independent of the pack; those that have little need of the affirmation of the tribe, or collective.

They knew they couldn’t win on an intellectual level, but they were (as is normal in the animal kingdom) feral and cunning. They mastered the arts of manipulating language and projecting their own defects upon others.

They hijacked the foundations of society: the language, the flow of information, the means of production and distribution, transportation, the education system, the judicial system, governments… They herded the people into mega cities where they were more easily controlled and indoctrinated; they viciously manipulated words, projected, LIED, cheated, stole, defamed, demeaned… Not much has changed in the world of progressive journalism, pseudo-academic, or politics: the more vicious and irrational, the higher the pay, the perks, the praise.

From the inception of America’s Constitution there were those (monarchists, Tories, Federalists) incapable of evolving beyond the Neanderthal mindset that the mass of mankind were to be silenced, subservient, poked, prodded, herded, and ruled over by the iron fist of their superiors. And because the people were to be kept dumb, down, and on the dole, the Federalists chipped away at the Constitution, and We the People’s self- government. The only thing that ever changes about this type of throwback is what they prefer to call themselves from one year to the next; about 4 years ago they went to the attic and pulled the 150- year-old progressive from the mothballs, yet again.

For well over a century the Dim-ocrats/liberals/progressives (disciples of both Marx and Marcuse, so of necessity, their choice of adjectives are in complete opposition the their literal definitions) have been a vast and subtle corps of sappers and miners constantly working under ground to undermine the foundations of our confederated fabric.

They remain incapable of evolution and continue hijacking every aspect of our lives; they cheat, they steal, they LIE incessantly. The cockroaches are everywhere but behind our baseboards; in our energy, how high we can set our thermostats, what cars we can drive, our food, our clothing, our housing, the air we breath, the water we drink, our showerheads, our toilets… Hell, they’re even in our beds via our mattresses, etc.

The intellectually challenged, soi-disant historians and journalists have been malignantly maligning everything about our Country: our self-government, our laws, our Constitution, the Founding Fathers; the sovereignty of the States and their Constitutional powers; the limits placed on the General (Federal) Government, our Capitalist system, our culture, our self-reliance, our patriotism, our faith, our morality… We are selfish, we are greedy, we are Imperialists, we oppress people around the world… Well, I for one, am fed up with our oppressing the people around the world with all our foreign aid; my solution is cut off all foreign aid. Voila, no more oppression. There may be no easy answers to the complexity of today‘s world, but there certainly are simple ones.

Since it is the mission of the United States Department of Education to keep WE THE PEOPLE dumb, down, and on the dole (eradicate any future Bourgeois before they have a chance to discover personal responsibility, self-reliance, self-respect, upward mobility, and success), the progressives are encouraged to constantly regurgitate the most outrageous, in our face, LIES. They don’t care that millions of us know they are LYING; they only want to write, hear, and read, anything that justifies their existence and self-delusional superiority.

Orwell’s Ministry of Truth, the United States Department of Education, has mass produced generations of self-absorbed Pavlovian dogs.

The Progressives boringly don their delusional self-righteous masks, climb on their soap boxes, feign indignation, and lecture WE THE PEOPLE: the Founding Fathers were a bunch of rich, evil, slave owners. They lecture: America was never a Christian nation, others say we’re a Judeo-Christian nation; the Constitution is a living document; and it was written to protect the minorities from the oppression of the majority, and on, and on… None has been more viciously maligned than Thomas Jefferson; they tell us he was (Gasp) rich, he was evil, he was a slave owner, and he was not a Christian he was a Deist… All of this would have been quite a surprise to the Founding Fathers. (I relish saying Founding Fathers, it so irritates the politically correct Harpies.)

As is usually the case, their assertions are in complete opposition to the facts: The Constitution was written to protect the mass of WE THE PEOPLE from the usurpation of our unalienable rights, endowed by our Creator, from the rich, the politicians, the General Government, historians, journalists, and minority special interest groups.

So to quote the much maligned Thomas Jefferson, in his First Inaugural Address of 1801: "All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable, that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression." (Emphasis added.)

And in 1826 he wrote: … the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride legitimately by the grace of God.

Another report was on economic freedom: Every year a report is released on the ranking of global economic freedom, by nation. This year, America - the economic power-house of the world for well over 2¼ centuries - was dropped to 10th place in the economic freedom ratings; that is another historical first the Reaper can lay claim to.

Our troubles began in 2006 when the American people, allowing themselves to be manipulated by media LIES yet again, threw a temper tantrum and handed the gavel to the children. Hydra Pelosi took control of the People’s Gavel in January 2007; but in 2007 the country was still operating on the previous Republican budge, so much less was spent that year.

"Blaming today’s economic failures on George W. Bush is getting tiresome.

"The Democrats took over the White House on January 22, 2009 but our present troubles started on January 3, 2007, the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress.

"At that time: The unemployment was at 4.6 percent; the DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77; the GDP for the previous year was 3.5%.

"George Bush’s economic policies set a record of 52 straight months of job creation.

"January 3, 2007 was the day that Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee and Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee.

"The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in the banking and financial services.

"The root of the crisis lay in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, whose sub-prime mortgages and other risky practices were strongly defended by Dodd and Frank. It was amplified by the bundling of mortgages by Goldman Sachs, an unsavory brokerage that supports Democrats.

Bush may have been in the car in 2007 but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel…

In 2007 the Democrat’s housing market crash had not occurred yet, no contracts had yet been breached, no retirements had been stripped by the government’s nationalization of auto companies for political paybacks. America still held a triple A credit rating; middle class incomes rose due to two tax cuts courtesy of Bush, tax revenues were at historic highs, the national debt was below $9 trillion; a gallon of gas was a mere $1.81 when Bush left office, today it is nearly double at $3.48 and rising; food and energy cost were still reasonable... life was sweet back then.

From 2007 until January of 2011, Republicans had zip, zero, zilch, nada, power to stop anything Hydra Pelosi and 4-flusher Reid did: so they imposed new laws, buried the private sector in new regulations, imposed new taxes, passed outrageous budgets, raised the minimum wage, raised fuel efficiency standards to destructive levels, massively expanded SCHIP, expanded welfare, expanded food stamps… expanded unemployment payments to 99 weeks, imposed trillion dollar stimulus packages, record numbers of pork projects, gave Obama a blank check to suck the American people to the marrow, raised our debt ceiling to unsustainable levels, imposed the Dodd-Frank bill to seriously undermine our free market system, grew government beyond sustainability, gave carte blanche to regulatory agencies without a hint of oversight, made massive Fascist inroads for crony capitalism… They usurped our Fourth Amendment right to feel secure in our persons, houses, papers and effects, they denied over half of the American people their Constitutional right to representative government, bribed fellow legislators (with our own hard-earned money) to tyrannically impose Reaper-care, or Obama-care, whichever you prefer; if it comes with unelected, bureaucratic death panels dictating who will be allowed to receive medical assistance, and who won‘t, it is Grim Reaper-care.

After one year of Hydra Pelosi‘s mismanagement, in January of 2008 our economic freedom rating dropped, and has dropped each consecutive year thereafter. For the first time in history our triple A credit rating was lowered…

On July 3, 2008, the Reaper told his audience: The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last 8 years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion from the first 42 presidents - number 43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back - $30,000 for every man, woman, and child. That’s irresponsible! That’s unpatriotic.! Since that is his own criteria, $5 trillion by his lonesome, in 3 years would constitute treason, an impeachable offense.

In 2008, the taxpayers paid $772 million for government subsidized cell phone bills; since Obama the cost has more than doubled to $1.6 billion. In 2010, $4 billion was handed out to illegal aliens for earned’ income credit on their children. Any time a policy is adopted in DC, you must pay close attention to the policy’s title: earned income credit, for income not earned; insurance is no longer insurance, it’s wealth redistribution; entitlements for those not entitled; free choice where there is NO choice at all…

Since Obama took office our poverty rate has risen 16%, welfare rates have climbed dramatically; food stamp rolls went from 32 million to 47.7 million, housing, electrical and heating assistance has necessarily sky-rocketed just as the Grim Reaper promised during his ‘08 campaign. For the first three years of this administration Social Security recipients received no cost of living raises, but because it’s an election year, they finally got one. Millions of businesses have closed their doors, or sent American jobs off-shore, our real unemployment is over 11.6%… There are 2 million less jobs to be had in America today than when he took office. Millions have stopped looking for work entirely. 49% of Americans pay no federal income tax at all, but 67 million are on some type of government assistance. In 3 years the dependency index has soared 23%; the average income of those paying taxes is $32,446, but the average income for those on government assistance is $32,748; the makers who foot the bill for the taker, have less than the takers. In 3 years this administration has spent more than the first 42 administrations combined…

The Reaper took victory laps heralding the unemployment drop from 8.6% to 8.3% in January - those books have been cooked so long they’re literally smoking. What he deliberately omitted was any mention of the 1.2 million Americans that dropped out of the jobs market and into the poverty line; in January 1.2 million people drop out of the jobs market completely; only 243,000 jobs were allegedly created. The first week of February 358,000 new unemployment claims were filed. How is that 243,000 jobs created drops the unemployment number by 0.3%, but losing 358,000 jobs doesn’t raise it even one-tenth of one percent?

For the entire 8 years George Bush was in office, the media and Dim-ocrats whined and carped about Bush’s middle-class tax cuts, his spending, his deficit; Bush’s last year in office was chump change in comparison to what the Dim-ocrats and Obama have spent; so Republicans, and RINOs, need to shut the hell up with the moral equivalence, feigned indignation, and bending over backwards to prove how fair they are.

The Dim-ocrats have openly declared war on our personal freedoms and choices, and our freedom of conscience… They have declared war on traditional values and Christianity, Conservatism, upward mobility, success, the business sector… They are destroying our energy sector before our eyes. They’ve hijacked America’s auto industry, the housing market, the banking industry, student loans, the medical and pharmaceutical industries… and they don’t even care that WE THE PEOPLE object.

To quote Thomas Jefferson, yet again, "…when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." (Emphasis added.)

Why stand we here idle? It is time WE THE PEOPLE live up to our own obligations, take our government back; and never allow the children to gain control of the Gavel, the White House, or any part of our government, ever again; and that goes for spineless RINOs and Republicans, as well. If they are incapable of reading the Constitution, or upholding their oaths of office, they need not apply.

The abuse, usurpation, and negativity about America has been drummed into us for so long, I refuse to take it any longer, I want to shine some therapeutic sunshine on the nobility of our history and our Founding Fathers. America has been the noblest and most generous people, we have contributed more to the advancement of the human condition than any other nation ever, in the history of the world, or any nine-tenths of them combined; all the while the world, and the dysfunctional left, has used us as a punching bag. Pogo was correct: We have met the enemy, and he is us.

Our Founding Fathers charged WE THE PEOPLE with the obligation of preserving and perpetuating our Country as they intended it: as they sacrificed for it, as they bled for it, and as they died for it; it was their hard earned legacy to us. America didn’t leave us; we went to sleep on our own watch, and allowed the greed and ambition of those in power to run riot over our country, our laws, and our liberties. We must take back our systems - from subversive unions, special interest groups, politicians, our local schools, school boards, zoning committees… from our city offices, county offices, State offices, our courts, to our General Government…

We must once again teach our own children about their noble heritage, because they surely won’t learn it from the indoctrination camps the progressives lovingly refer to as public education. We need to teach our own children to stand tall again, with their heads held high, and proud to proclaim: I am an American!

I want now to share with you, the nobility of your history, because the General Government is not our ruler. WE THE PEOPLE RULE here, they exist at OUR pleasure, because WE THE PEOPLE ARE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

"If the liberties of America are ever completely ruined… it will in all probability be the consequence of a mistaken notion of prudence which leads men to acquiesce in measures of the most destructive tendency for the sake of present ease. When designs are form’d to raise the very foundation of a free government, those few who are to erect their grandeur and fortune upon the general ruin, will employ every art to sooth the devoted people into a state of indolence, inattention and security, which is forever the fore-runner of slavery - they are alarmed at nothing so much, as attempts to awaken the people to jealousy and watchfulness, and it has been an old game played over and over again, to hold up the men who would rouse their fellow citizens and countrymen to a sense of their real danger, and spirit them to the most zealous activity in the use of all proper means for the preservation of the public liberty, as ’pretended patriots,’ ’intemperate politicians,’ rash, hotheaded men, Incendiaries, wretched desperadoes, who, as was said of the best of men, would turn the world upside down, or have done it already."

April 27, 1777: John Quincy Adams in a letter to his mother Abigail:

Posterity! you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

A Call to Arms!

Oration Delivered in Boston: 5 March, 1772

When we turn over the historic page, and trace the rise and fall of states and empires, the mighty revolutions which have so often varied the face of the world strike our minds and with solemn surprise, and we are naturally led to endeavour to search out the causes of such astonishing changes.

That man is formed for social life, is an observation which, upon our first inquiry, presents itself immediately to our view, and our reason approves that wise and generous principle which actuated the first founders of civil government; an institution which hath its origin in the weakness of individuals, and hath for its end, the strength and security of all; and so long as the means of effecting this important end are thoroughly known, and religiously attended to, government is one of the richest blessings to mankind, and ought to be held in the highest veneration.

In young and new formed communities, the grand design of this institution is most generally understood, and most strictly regarded; the motives which urged to the social compact, cannot be at once forgotten, and that equality which is remembered to have subsisted so lately among them, prevents those who are clothed with authority from attempting to invade the freedom of their brethern; or if such an attempt is made, it prevents the community from suffering the offender to go unpunished; every member feels it to be his interest, and knows it to be his duty, to preserve inviolate the constitution on which the public safety depends. (Emphasis added.)

It was this noble attachment to a free constitution, which raised ancient Rome from the smallest beginnings, to that bright summit of happiness and glory to which she arrived; and it was the loss of this which plunged her from that summit, into the black gulf of infamy and slavery. It was this attachment which inspired her senators with wisdom; it was this which glowed in the breasts of her heroes; it was this which guarded her liberties, and extended her dominions, gave peace at home, and commanded, respect abroad; and when this degenerated into tyrants and oppressors; her senators forgetful of their dignity, and seduced by base corruption, betrayed their country; her soldiers, regardless of their relation to the community, and urged only by hopes of plunder and rapine, unfeelingly committed the most flagrant enormities; and hired to the trade of death, with relentless fury they perpetrated the most cruel murders, whereby the streets of imperial Rome were drenched with her noblest blood. Thus this empress of the world lost her dominions abroad, and her inhabitants, dissolute in their manners, at length became contented slaves; and she stands to this day, the scorn and derision of nations, and a monument of this eternal truth, that PUBLIC HAPPINESS DEPENDS ON A VIRTUOUS AND UNSHAKEN ATTACHMENT TO A FREE CONSTITUTION.

It was this attachment to a constitution, founded on free and benevolent principles, which inspired the first settlers of this country: they saw with grief the daring outrages committed on the free constitution of their native land; they knew that nothing but a civil war could at that time restore its pristine purity. So hard was it to resolve to embrue their hands in the blood of their brethern, that they chose rather to quit their fair possessions, and seek another habitation in a distant clime. When they came to this new world, which they fairly purchased of the Indian natives, the only rightful proprietors, they cultivated the then barren soil, by their incessant labour, and defended their dear bought possessions with the fortitude of the Christian, and the bravery of the hero.

After various struggles, which, during the tyrannic reigns of the House of Stuart, were constantly kept up between right and wrong, between liberty and slavery, the connection between Great Britain and this colony, was settled in the reign of King William and Queen Mary, by a compact, the conditions of which were expressed in a charter, by which all the liberties and immunities of British subjects, were confined to this province, as fully and as absolutely as they possibly could be by any human instrument which can be devised. And it is undeniably true, that the greatest and most important right of a British subject is, that he shall be governed by no laws but those in which he either in person or by his representative hath given his consent; and this I will venture to assert is the grand basis of British freedom; it is interwoven with the constitution; and whenever this is lost, the constitution must be destroyed.

The British constitution (of which ours is a copy) is a happy compound of the three forms (under some of which all governments may be ranged) viz., monarchy, aristocracy, and democracy: of these three the British Legislature is composed and without the consent of each branch, nothing can carry with it the force of a law; but when a law is to be passed for raising a tax, the law can originate only in the democratic branch, which is the House of Commons in Britain, and the House of Representatives here. The reason is obvious: they and their constituents are to pay much the largest part of it; but as the aristocratic branch, which is in Britain, the house of Lords, and in this province, the council, are also to pay some part, THEIR consent is necessary; and as the monarchic branch, which in Britain is the king, and with us, either the king in person, or the governor whom he shall be pleased to appoint to act in his stead, is supposed to have a just sense of his own interest, which is that of all the subjects in general. HIS consent is also necessary; and when the consent of these three branches is obtained, the taxation is most certainly legal.

Let us now allow ourselves a few moments to examine the late acts of the British Parliament for taxing America. Let us with candour judge whether they are constitutionally binding upon us: if they are, IN THE NAME OF JUSTICE let us submit to them, without murmuring one word.

First, I would ask whether the members of the British House of Commons are the democracy of this province? If they are, they are either the people of this province, or are elected by the people of this province, to represent them, and have therefore a constitutional right to originate a bill for taxing them: it is most certain they are neither; and therefore nothing done can be said to be done by the democratic branch of our constitution. I would next ask whether the Lords who compose the aristocratic branch of the legislature, are peers of America? I never heard it was (even in these extraordinary times) so much as pretended; and if they are not, certainly no act of theirs can be said to be the act of the aristocratic branch of our constitution. The power of the monarchic branch we with pleasure acknowledge, resides in the king, who may act either in person or by his representatives; and I freely confess that I can see no reason why a PROCLAMATION for raising money in America, issued by the king’s sole authority, would not be equally consistent with our own constitution, and therefore equally binding upon us with the late acts of the British Parliament for taxing us; for it is plain, that if there is any validity in those acts, it must arise altogether from the monarchical branch of the legislature: and I further think that it would be at least as equitable; for I do not conceive it to be of the least importance to us by whom our property is taken without our consent; and I am very much at loss to know by what figure of rhetoric, the inhabitants of this province can be called FREE SUBJECTS, when they are obliged to obey implicitly such laws as are made for them by men three thousand miles off, whom they know not, and whom they never have empowered to act for them; or how they can be said to have PROPERTY when a body of men, over whom they have not the least control, and who are not in any way accountable to them, shall oblige them to deliver up any part, or the whole of their substance, without even asking their consent: and yet, whoever pretends that the late acts of the British Parliament for taxing America ought to be deemed binding upon us, must admit at once that we are absolute SLAVES, and have no property of our own; or else that we may be FREEMEN, and at the same time under necessity of obeying the arbitrary commands of those over whom we have no control or influence; and that we have PROPERTY OF OUR OWN, which is entirely at the disposal of another. Such gross absurdities, I believe, will not be relished in this enlightened age: and it can be no matter of wonder that the people quickly perceived, and seriously complained of the inroads which these acts must unavoidably make upon their liberty, and of the hazard to which their whole property is by them exposed; for, if they may be taxed without their consent, even in the smallest trifle, they may also, without their consent, be deprived of every thing they possess, although never so valuable, never so dear. Certainly it never entered the hearts of our ancestors, that after so many dangers in this then desolate wilderness, their hard earned property should be at the disposal of the British Parliament; and as it was soon found that this taxation could not be supported by reason and argument, it seemed necessary that one act of oppression should be enforced by another, and therefore, contrary to our just rights as possessing, or at least having a just title to possess, all liberties and IMMUNITIES of British subjects, a standing army was established among us in a time of peace; and evidently for the purpose of effecting that, which it was one principal design of the founders of the constitution to prevent (when they declared a standing army in a time of peace to be AGAINST LAW) namely for the enforcement of obedience to acts which, upon fair examination, appears to be unjust and unconstitutional.

The ruinous consequences of standing armies to free communities, may be seen in the histories of SYRACUSE, ROME, and many other once flourishing states; some of which have now scarce a name! Their baneful influence is most suddenly felt, when they are placed in populous cities; for by a corruption of morals, the public happiness is immediately affected; and that this is one of the effects of quartering troops in a populous city, is a truth, to which many a mourning parent, many a lost, despairing child in this metropolis must bear a very melancholy testimony. Soldiers are also taught to consider arms as the only arbiters by which every dispute is to be decided between contending states; they are instructed implicitly to obey their commanders, without inquiring into the justice of the cause they are engaged to support: hence it is, that they are ever to be dreaded as the ready engines of tyranny and oppression. And it is too observable that they are prone to introduce the same mode of decision in the disputes of individuals, and from thence have often arisen great animosities between them and the inhabitants, who, whilst in a naked defenseless state, are frequently insulted and abused by an armed soldiery. And this will be more especially the case, when the troops are informed that the intention of their being stationed in any city, is to OVERAWE THE INHABITANTS. That this was the avowed design of stationing an armed force in this town, is sufficiently known; and we, my fellow-citizens, have seen, we have felt the tragically effects! THE FATAL FIFTH OF MARCH, 1770, CAN NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. The horrors of THAT DREADFUL NIGHT are but too deeply impressed on our hearts. Language is too feeble to paint the emotions of our souls, when our streets were stained with the BLOOD OF OUR BRETHERN; when our ears were wounded by the groans of the dying, and our eyes were tormented with the sight of the mangled bodies of the dead. When our alarmed imagination presented to our view our houses wrapt in flames, our children subjected to the barbarous caprice of the raging soldiery; our beauteous virgins exposed to all the insolence of unbridled passion; our virtuous wives, endeared to us by every tender tie, falling a sacrifice to worse than brutal violence, and perhaps, like the famed Lucretia, distracted with anguish and despair, ending their wretched lives by their own fair hands. When we beheld the authors of our distress parading in our streets or drawn up in a regular battalia, as though in a hostile city, our hearts beat to arms; we snatched our weapons, almost resolved, by one decisive stroke, to average the death of our SLAUGHTERED BRETHERN, and to secure from future danger, all that we held most dear; but propitious Heaven forbad the bloody carnage, and saved the threatened victims of our keen resentment, not by their discipline, not by their regular army; no, it was royal George’s livery that provided their shield, it was that which turned the pointed engines of destruction from their breasts. The thoughts of vengeance were soon buried in our inbred affection to Great Britain, and calm reason dictated a method of removing the troops more mild than an immediate recourse to the sword. With united efforts you urged the immediate departure of the troops from the town; your urged it, with a resolution which ensured success; you obtained your wishes, and the removal of the troops was effected, without one drop of their blood being shed by the inhabitants.

The immediate actors in the tragedy of THAT NIGHT were surrendered to justice. It is not mine to say how far they were guilty! They have been tried by the country and AQUITTED of murder! and they are not to be again arraigned at an earthly bar: but surely the men who have promiscuously scattered death amidst the innocent inhabitants of a popular city, ought to see well to it that they be prepared to stand at the bar of an omniscient Judge! and all who contrived or encouraged the stationing of troops in this place, have reasons of eternal importance, to reflect with deep contrition, on their base designs, and humbly to repent of their impious machinations.
