About this ebook

A new boy in the district. Ronnie and her girlfriends Katie and Jasmine think Drake Demento is something special. It is odd that he is never around during the day and unfortunate that his family are so unpleasant. He seems to have found Jasmine’s missing cat, but now Jasmine is unconscious and in hospital.

No one is going to take any notice of a superstitious old grandmother who believes that the Demento family are evil vampires. And if there are no such things as vampires, just people with odd dietary habits, Ronnie and Katie have to somehow manage to rescue the missing people and animals from a very dangerous place.

Margaret Pearce

Margaret Pearce was born when the population of Australia was seven million – now it is some twenty-two million. Like many Australians, her forebears immigrated in the 1850's to find a better life for their children, part of the largest diaspora of the times. At seven when she found a lurid science fiction magazine, her unsupervised reading started. The cover had an almost naked female in a large wine glass and an interesting alien drinking her blood from a tap below. She has since been hooked on science fiction and fantasy. She completed a commercial course before being launched on an unsuspecting business world as a typist, stenographer and secretary before falling into copywriting. When she married, she commenced writing and even while raising children, found time to publish. When children grew, she decided to study for a arts degree as a mature age student and become a teacher, but writing continued to dominate her life. The Author lives in an underground house in the Australian bush, where she maintains her love of writing.

PDF free for honest reviewThis was a fantastic, quick, and adventuresome read! I sat down to read this book and found that after starting it I just couldn't put it down. The plot was amazing, the characters were beyond amazing, and the writing by the author was, you guessed it...amazing! I have nothing bad what so ever to say about this book. Ronnie and her friends meet Drake at a dance and Ronnie is smitten by him. They soon become friends, but there is an air of mystery and wonder about Drake and his weird/mean family. The family has odd behaviors and even odder attitudes to people visiting Drake or the house. When animals (pets and strays) start to go missing Ronnie and her friends wonder, by his actions, if Drake knows more about what is going on that he is letting one. But why would he cover up an animal heist? And what would his family want with all those animals anyway? Things get even weirder when Ronnie's little brother and his friend go missing. Where did the boys go? Are they in danger? Again Drake seems to be acting odd. What's the connection? When Ronnie's friend is found "out of it" and with memory loss, everyone wonders what is going on and how do they make her better? The girls soon find out there is much more to Drake and his weird family than meets the eye, and that perhaps people should not ignore superstitious old ladies that seem to be talking about things that don't exist. Perhaps they are more sane than anyone realizes. I just couldn't get enough of this book and found it to be a very easy and quick read once I started it. I got sucked in to the drama and mystery and paranormal of it all very fast. I loved seeing how things played out with the plot. This was a very well written book and deserves high praise in my opinion. There was never a dull moment, nor was there ever a time I just wanted to put it down and forget about it. The time I did have to put it down I was very excited and anxious to come back to it and see how things turned out for the friends. The characters were very well developed also, making the book that much better. I think characters make or break the book, and Ronnie, Katie, Jasmine, and Drake definitely "made" this book! Was a nice read involving paranormal read that I think anyone would enjoy if they are in to paranormal or vampire books.5/5 Stars!!!
