    My name is Leonard Shaefer. I am a photographer, writer, artist, and instructor with over 30 years behind the camera. When I look through the lens I am searching for new ways to share my experience. The images I create are heavily weighted toward nature. I’m drawn to evanescent sunsets, the assemblage of landscapes, and the serendipity of searching out subjects in the wilderness.As a photographer I have worked in Real Estate, with National Fund Raising Organizations, and the News Media, It is fun to leisurely search out that perfect shot for personal use, however, I thoroughly enjoy the challenges and outcomes of being on assignment. When your photos have to be their best, and you are telling someone else's story with the images, there are no second chances. If a mistake is made when shooting for my own pleasure then I have missed a great shot. When that mistake is made on assignment then someone is losing a once in a lifetime memory.

      So, you have your digital camera and you are taking some pretty good photographs by now. Your friends, and even family say, you should get those photos put on a card, or a calendar. After some thought, you want to go ahead and get those postcard-perfect shots submitted somewhere and make a little money while you are at it.

      This book explains the methods used to submit photographs to Micro-Stock, and Stock Photography agencies. I also explain some easy ways to protect your photos from online theft, your legal responsibilities, and much more.

      Stock Photography agencies use websites to showcase photographs – your photographs. They advertise their business, fight for top search engine rankings, sell photos, and basically do all the work. For allowing them to sell your photographs you get a cut of the sale price.
