    I grew up in South Yorkshire, England, before emigrating to South Australia at the age of sixteen. My writing ambitions began as a child, when I became notorious in my class for writing short horror stories that would probably have them calling in the child psychologists nowadays! I have written everything from non-fiction ebooks to published short fiction, and served as script editor on two proposed horror feature film scripts for an LA based director. In terms of fiction I have written dozens of novellas, including more than 70 stories in the "Ian's Gang" sci-fi adventure series. I still live in Queensland, where I work as a freelance writer.

      CHAPTER ONE

      The giant bat circled, turning toward the gang.

      Chester Shaw ran toward his young daughter, but kept a respectful distance. Kate - don't! Don't do it! It's me, Daddy. Think what you're doing! You don't have to do this, honey. Fight. Fight her!

      Doctor Jenkins turned to the cult. Stop him, she ordered.

      Steve Botham swung his machine-gun up. Just fuckin' try it, he said dangerously.

      None of them moved.

      Honey! Think who you are! You're Kate Shaw, you're a good girl! Chester pleaded. Kate blinked. A good girl? she asked plaintively.

      The giant bat vanished.

      So far... Jenkins seethed. I'll not be stopped now I am so close! She picked up the sacrificial knife again and ran at Chester.

      Kate turned, fire in her eyes. Chester backed away as power exuded from her. "Oh no, you don't, you bitch!" she shouted.

      Jenkins literally imploded into an orgy of blood of puss as Kate's psychic force smashed into her.

      But she was not dead. She rose to her feet, a grotesque figure. Look at me! she shrieked. Kate realised she no longer had a face. I will return! You can hurt me, Kate, but you cannot kill me, and you cannot stop me. I will return - and you shall die! Jenkins' mouth bulged. From it emerged a cat. A black cat, fur coated with bile. Fangs bared, it leapt for Kate's throat...

      ... Kate awoke, screaming.

      The door opened, and the light came on, revealing Chester. His expression was not one of surprise. Again? he asked.

      Kate nodded. You have to find someone, Dad.

      Ian's Gang haven't re-formed yet, Kate. And with Wilburts on extended leave, the army just aren't interested, Chester explained.

      Then find someone else who'll help us, Kate looked him in the eye. Find them - before it's too late.

      Morning.
