I would like to take a moment to introduce myself I am a Tarot Reader. I have had an interest in Tarot and divination for many years and continue my studies daily. I am a member of the American Tarot Association as well as an endorsed reader for The Tarot Guild, an international group of divination artist. I do what is considered intuitive reading. This means that I look at the cards and listen for what they have to say through my sub-conscious thought. The cards are a tool to guide my thoughts in the direction of your answers. The cards use symbolism found in many layers and together we will find the message. But what is my tarot story? I had set aside reading the cards for several years. Life just got in the way and my interested found me heading in many different more main stream directions and then one day! Bam! Or should I say crash! I was involved in a serious car accident. The cars were destroyed but the people were ok for the most part. I was rushed to the hospital and went through the standard x-rays and exams only to be told, your injuries are all muscular, no bones involved and you do have a brain tumor you might want to have that looked at. Wow what a shocker. Skip ahead a few years, the tumor is now removed and I’ve been left with some residual side effects the most bothersome is not being able to verbally communicate my thoughts. I would be able to see the word and words I wanted to use but couldn’t for the life of me get them from brain to enunciation. Now you are going to ask what does all of this have to do with tarot already! I picked up the cards after I had a reading done. I felt like there was something more I was to know, somehow that reading wasn’t quiet finished for me. It prompted me to find a deck and start working with the cards again. And here is what I discovered, the cards help distract my left (logical) brain, by occupying the right (creative) brain thereby allowing my thoughts to flow smoothly to my spoken voice. It’s still not perfect but it is so much better. And because the cards were so instrumental in my recovery I wanted to use them to help others in their recovery whether it is physical like mine, or mental or emotional. And what does all of this have to do with the books I write. My speech processing wasn’t the only form of communication effected by the tumor and the surgery. My skills at a keyboard are also lost. It may not seem like much but I used to be able to type 90+ words per minute with over 90% accuracy. Now I’m back to the hunt and peck method of typing. If I want to use the letter “L” for instance, I know it is located with my right hand ring finger but I swear I’m just as likely to strike the left hand index finger knowing I have the right key only to find the “G” where my “L” should be. So it’s back to the drawing board for me, Mavis Beacon here I come. And for those of you too young to know who Mavis Beacon is, she’s as close as your nearest search engine.
