After the failure of Shelby’s speculation in the stock market, he decided to sold off Tom and the slave girl Eliza son Harry to set off. Tom was a faithful Christian, resigned himself to adversity, submissively to hear and obey, but Eliza took his son to escape. Her husband, George, also could not stand his cruelty, fancily absconded. The plot of the novel revolves around the encounters whenTom changed his masters for several times and Eliza and George struggle for freedom.
