INTRODUCTION
I am bringing together a lot of history of Rajasthan that few know but as stories. This is my research and shows my love for Rajasthan, which has contributed immensely to India as it is doing now. This book is an easy way for readers to get a lot of information that they may not find otherwise. But this is history that changed the history of this state and that of India.
Rajasthan, an introduction.
Enchanting, this abode of the kings and its people are a handsome race with bravery etched in every grain of their body and minds. Nature has colored it with few colors but they are not hard to find, you will experience them everywhere in clothes, buildings, frescoes, murals, jewelry etc. Architectural designs speak of a skill and dexterity that draws you like a magnet. There is a spirit of romance, valor and faith.
Rich in heritage, that is seen reflected in the havelis, forts, palaces, serene lakes, sand dunes, forests and mountains all living together. The region is full of surprises and unexpected changes in the terrain that appear and disappear like a mirage in the desert. Vibrant, colorful, royal to boot, musical, filled with arts and crafts and stories of bravery that defy logic and imagination.
Rajasthan is the favorite destination for tourists. Every year over six lakh foreign and 125 lakh domestic tourists visit this state. There is everything to see here from the desert sands to lush jungles filled with wild animals, rivers, lakes, hills; historical sites filled with forts, palaces and stories of Rajput bravery; temples that are ancient as well as new can be found here. Vibrant and colorful, the magnificence of Rajasthan captures the heart and mind of one and all.
The largest city in this state is Jaipur which is also its capital. It contains 39 princely states that were ruled by Rajputs and became a part of Rajputana and later Rajasthan. The Gurjars or nomads formed the local people in these states. A few sections of the Rajputana from the Sumel-Tappa region were added to the state of Madhya Pradesh
This ancient country is older than the Indus Valley Civilization, the ruins of which can be found in Kalibangan in Hanumangarh district. Between 35-405 BCE the western khsatrapas were ruled by Sakas – Rajasthan, Gujarat, Sindh and Maharashtra. The rule of the Indo-Scythians was followed by the
