About this ebook
Festival is a science fiction fairytale. A collection of dream fragments tinged with gothic horror. An Elizabethan festival set in some other world.
...For beneath this climbing girl don’t the skeleton giants roam? See how they tower over the people, as tall as the very castells themselves. Tonight, when the sunset reddens the sky, when blood has been shed, when the offerings have been made. Tonight these spectral giant’s with their silver grinning skulls will glow as they walk in the moonlight – For this is The Festival of Atonement...
There will be blood and death and celebrations for the coming year. The jesters and their honour guard are ready, the executioner’s blade has been sharpened, the monks are well versed in their theatre, the bears and cats and parrots have been mustered. The children are waiting.
