About this ebook

The Myth of Heroe is a book of short lessons interspersed with a mythological story of a young child cast into a forest to fend for her/himself. The lessons and the story mirror each other. The story in short, is about learning to survive in the most dire of circumstances. The child grows up alone and has to learn what to eat and how to defend her/himself. The story is actually without gender so that each youth can, if they would, picture themselves as Heroe. Heroe fantasizes about the land of the golden lights that is settled across a raging river. When Heroe is old enough and strong enough, she/he fashions a canoe so that she/he cross the dangerous waters. It is a life or death moment and Heroe's canoe is swept up and over the vast waterfall. But Heroe does survives and comes to discover that she/he is the child of the King and Queen of this golden land that for so long she/he wanted to visit. Heroe was kidnapped and brought to Creeden with hopes that she/he would be devoured by the creatures there. The story is about survival and finding within, the majestic self that overcomes adversities of all kinds.
The Lessons interspersed range from learning to be authentic 'you' to being financially savvy.

This book is dedicated to my dad, Paul M. Washington who inspired me to be a thinker and to have ambition, and to my mother, Christine F. Washington who showed me how to express every emotion with freedom and wisdom, and who gave me my artistic soul. I love you madly, as Grandma Mary would say. Also, this is dedicated to my oldest brother Marc Washington who when I was a wee girl, bought for me books to read even though he was a poor college student and far from home. I never told you, but those books kept me spellbound and excited my imagination. And finally but certainly not least, this book is dedicated to all the children and teens out there who don’t have any real family to speak of, or anyone to really talk to. Just remember, the deeper your pain, the mightier and stronger the life that grows from within.

    Introduction

When you were or became an adolescent you also came into a burst of energy unlike anything you will ever experience for the rest of your life. The level of your energy and the power it yielded or yields, has the potential to create a path that may change the very world we all live in. Consider these next few lines a history lesson for those of you who don’t know these things. But in 1450, Italy experienced an era called the Renaissance. Renaissance means rebirth. You may wonder what was given birth in Italy? It was the birth of a new era. It was a time when artists created paintings, sculptures and architectural feats that changed their world. What these young artists created is still changing the world as their works continue to be celebrated by new and upcoming artist’s and by the masses of patrons who are inspired by and appreciate art. Art and technological advancements come from the creativity of the mind and alters the trajectory of a society. It is said that when the creation of the arts cease in a nation, it is a sign that the society is in its death throes.

The Renaissance was fueled by youths much as you. Their skills were honed in their youth and the passion they experienced as they learned these skills eclipsed all else. Often these young artists would leave both mother and father to study with a renowned master, so great was their desire to create that they forsook all. These were the young and talented youths who were filled with a thirst to learn their trade because they believed that there was every possibility that they would reach the level of genius. They were on fire and focused and their passion caused them to create art, new ideas and architecture that is responsible for their celebrity even till this day, so many centuries later.

The reason every nation in the world sends adolescents into their wars against other countries is because at your stage of development, you are like a neutron bomb! When you get into a car and speed down an empty highway, that’s the creative energy inside you bursting to come out is some way, in any way. When you get on the auditorium stage, your creative energy is what inspires you to sing your heart out to the point where you don’t even see the people sitting there in the audience. It is so powerful it can take you to another world! Your creative energy will fill you with a belief that you can do anything, live through anything, and conquer everything! And these comments are all true. Nations send you to war and terrorists look for young recruits your age because both females and males at this stage of life are the missiles of energy, of belief, and of the power it takes to create change. When they send you off to do their bidding, it is so that you can change history by making your nation, your tribe, clan or whatever, the victor in the battle, thereby changing the trajectory of power. Listen, they could easily send men and women who are in their 30’s both stronger and wiser than you, but they don’t. They send you because you have something more valuable than strength and wisdom. At your stage of development, you have balls, sorry girls, there’s no word for you, but this refers to you too, you have the kind of balls I’m referring to, as well. And this is more valuable than muscle because it takes balls to change anything. Now, add wisdom or skill to that, and you have the formula for genius!

Some of you were made to be warriors, to actually go off to fight for us or to be the police and firemen that protect us. But even if this is not the case, you were born to realize your own unique and creative power and to unleash it onto the stage of the world. What your particular skill is, what your particular genius is, is for you and the Universe/God to decide. At this stage of the game finding out what your particular genius is should be the most important thing in your life. Why? Because you are like a fireball, and if you don’t find wood to burn, you’ll burn down the neighborhood and end up in prison, or worse-dead. In addition, if you begin now at this stage of your life, when you reach your late 20’s and 30’s you may very well be a force to be reckoned with. If your drive is not pointed in the direction of your unique talent, your thinking is off, or your home life is such a negative distraction that is has taken you off your square. Not to worry though, a negative home life can give you even more fire, positive fire, fire that says I’m too important to burn trash; I need to find some real wood to set ablaze.

As you continue on, you will note that I sometimes refer to the path of loser’s or the path that loser’s take. If you are on that path that I am referring to, I am not calling you a loser anymore then if you are on the road leading to a Mall am I calling
