      CHAPTER ONE

      Annie was feeling like a diva this morning. There was a pep in her step and a swing to her hips that made her felt invincible. She had gotten the best sleep ever the night before. Thanks to the bonus she finally got last Friday, she’d taken herself on a shopping trip and a day of pampering and purchased a new suit and had her hair cut in fierce style. She normally wasn’t the type to spend her hard earned money on frivolous things like expensive suits and salon haircuts by high rated stylists, but she felt that after all of her hard work, she deserved it. She had busted her ass on the Clayton’s project for the past four months and it had all finally paid off. Annie had not doubted herself one bit but, this project was time consuming and difficult to piece together. She thought about how fortunate she had been to be promoted in a company dominated by men and was able to prove she deserved those promotions.

      When she got up this morning, she knew today would be different. Today is going to be a great day. She told herself. She looks at her reflection in the mirror with approval. Her hair cut compliment her oval shaped face, her olive skin was glowing and she was working that suit. With the success of her project and her new style she felt good, only one thing was missing...

      As Annie headed towards her favorite coffee joint, Ben the concession stand owner whistled at her.

      You’re definitely going to get him today, Mamasita Annie! You look great!

      Annie waved at Ben and smiled. Thanks Ben!

      He was always telling her that today day would be the day she would meet her guy. Annie appreciated Ben’s encouragement and well wishes. She was not getting any younger and at thirty- three years old, most of her friends were married and having kids or divorced and single again. Here she was, on an endless search for Mr. Right. When would he turn up? Annie knew that she had to be patient, but she wouldn’t be upset if he showed his face sometime soon.
